Watching the two black bears killing the pirates left and right before the city gate from the city wall, the gathered defenders of Ocean City were intrigued by the two beasts' unleashed power. The city defenders were not sure if they were on the winning side, but at least they were sure that they did not want to be the ones torn apart by the two black bears.
The pirates fighting before the closed gate tried their best to defend themselves, but despite their combined strength, they were still no match for the two beasts. The pirates stabbed, they sliced, they plunged sword after sword and shot arrow after arrow at the two beasts, but the two beasts remained unhurt, and their killing rage continued, ripping whoever was close to them apart with their strong, deadly claws.
Watching from the city wall, Lim Peizhi said, "That must be Renshu's doing."
"Why are they out of the city?" Huang Yueliang asked, puzzled.
"We will find out when they arrive here," Lim Peizhi replied, his gaze fixed on the battle.
The two wild beasts viciously attacked the pirates in the front row, forcing the pirates to stop their arrow attacks and focus on immediate defense.
A pirate rushed into Xu Baohai. "Boss, we can't kill these two beasts!" he shouted, desperate.
"You can't kill dead things," Qingyu said sexily, a cruel smile on her face. "The only way to kill the beast is to kill the person who summoned it." She smiled sexily. "But don't worry. The longer the beast stays, the more difficult it is for the person who summons it to control it. Once two hours have passed, the beast will be confused and will attack anyone he sees. The person who summonses it will not let the beast stay longer than that."
"I have enough lives to spare and keep those wild beasts company," Xu Baohai sneered, undeterred by the casualties.
Meanwhile, on the city wall, Guo Baiyu, Zhao Renshu, and Ping'an, along with Du Aiguo, arrived at the end of the city wall. It was deserted, completely unguarded.
"There is no one here," Du Aiguo observed, surprised.
"Because everyone is at the forefront," Guo Baiyu replied, indicating the sounds of battle from the main gate.
Ping'an took out her whip. She wrapped the whip around one of the pillars and then pulled herself up the wall. After a while, a rope ladder fell down. The three men climbed up the city wall.
"This unguarded post is a threat to us," Guo Baiyu stated, surveying the empty section.
"Xu Baohai may not know this," Zhao Renshu mused. "If he knew, he would have secretly attacked us already."
"Let us regroup. Renshu," Guo Baiyu said, his voice urgent.
Zhao Renshu cast a spell and put it on the wall, creating a glowing barrier. "You don't have to tell me," he grumbled, though he obeyed.
At the main gate, Guozhao Zhiqiang watched, a grim awareness settling over him. The summoned black bear, a colossal force of nature, was nearing the end of its allotted time. "I must remove the beast at the two-hour mark," he stated to a lead officer, his voice clipped with urgency.
"Why, young hunter?" the Lead officer asked, bewildered. "They are doing a great job!"
"The longer they stay after that, the more difficult it is to control them," Guozhao Zhiqiang explained. "They can turn on us if they become confused." He turned around and saw his two masters and his Shimu walking towards him. He ran towards them, relieved.
Guo Baiyu asked, "Did you bring it?"
"Yes," Guozhao Zhiqiang replied. He reached inside his robe, took out a single, shiny, clear orb, and handed it to Guo Baiyu.
Guo Baiyu took the orb and started walking towards the middle of the city wall, where hunters and soldiers were doing their best to protect the city, battling the pirate's bombardment.
"Are you going to do what I am thinking you are about to do?" Zhao Renshu asked worriedly, approaching Guo Baiyu.
Guo Baiyu looked at Zhao Renshu and replied, "Yes."
Zhao Renshu approached Guo Baiyu again, his face grim. "Is it even possible?"
Guo Baiyu sighed and said, "Desperate times require desperate measures."
Guozhao Zhiqiang looked at his two masters and asked Ping'an, "What are they talking about?"
"I have no clue," Ping'an confessed, equally confused.
The Ping'an, Zhiqiang, and Du Aiguo followed Guo Baiyu and Zhao Renshu.
"Peizhi?" Du Aiguo called out, seeing his brother-in-law.
"Aiguo," Lim Peizhi replied, relief flooding his face.
"Where is Yuehai?" Du Aiguo asked, concerned for his wife.
"She is safe," Huang Yueliang reassured him.
Guo Baiyu and Zhao Renshu stood in front of the enemy, now at a vantage point from the city wall.
"Baiyu! This is a crazy idea!" Zhao Renshu said madly, arguing with Guo Baiyu. "What if he refuses?"
Guo Baiyu calmly said, looking at the enemy hordes below, "I believe he will come."
"Who will come?" Lim Peizhi asked, confused by their cryptic conversation.
"I don't know," Ping'an replied, her face worried. "I don't even know that Zhiqiang will be here."
The rest of the defenders on the wall were confused and didn't know what Guo Baiyu and Zhao Renshu were arguing about. Guo Baiyu and Zhao Renshu kept arguing back and forth between the two of them, their voices rising.
Zhao Renshu angrily shoved Guo Baiyu back and shouted, "You will not risk your life to stand between the ten thousand pirates and this city wall!"
The disagreement quickly intensified, and the two were at each other's throats.
"Do you have a better idea?" Guo Baiyu shouted back, shoving Zhao Renshu back just as hard. "Please tell me if you do?"
This was the first time everyone who knew Guo Baiyu had heard him yell. Everyone was shocked. The two people quarreled in the past, but it was always Zhao Renshu who did the yelling.
Ping'an walked up and stood in the middle of the two, placing herself between their heated argument. "Baiyu, Renshu, please don't quarrel." She looked at them, her voice pleading. "Tell us what's going on!"
Zhao Renshu frowned angrily. "Stupid Baiyu intends to use a magic circle to create a gateway and teleport the Centaur soldiers here. He wants to use the city wall as a gateway!"
"This has never been done before," Ping'an said, stunned. She held Guo Baiyu's right hand. "I won't let you."
Zhao Renshu gritted his teeth angrily. "King Shammek is very firm with us; except protecting the northern fortress, he has nothing to do with mainlanders. If he refuses, it is impossible to escape the enemy, and you will die!"
"If King Shammek refuses to come," Guo Baiyu said, his gaze fixed on the horde below, "I will hold them back as long as possible, and you will lead as many people as possible out of here." He turned to Ping'an, his eyes softening. "When I knew I might save them, I couldn't let these innocent people die." He stroked her right cheek and kissed her forehead. "Please forgive me."
Ping'an gave him a faint smile, understanding his resolve. "Regardless of whether I agree or not, I know you will do this." She smiled, a sad acceptance. "You go do what you have to do without worry."
Guo Baiyu kissed Ping'an and smiled at her. "Don't follow me. It's not fair for Renshu." She nodded at him. He took her whip from her waist and handed it to her. He grabbed the end of the whip and, without hesitation, jumped down from the city wall, heading straight towards the pirate army.
The friends stood on the wall shouted in unision, "Baiyu!"
"Peizhi, evacuate this city as soon as possible!" Ping'an commanded, her voice urgent.
"What happened?" Lim Peizhi demanded. "If I don't know what happened, I will not leave the city!"
"Baiyu is trying to create a portal gateway to teleport the Centaur soldiers here," Zhao Renshu explained quickly, pointing down at Guo Baiyu.
"Is there such a creature?" Lim Peizhi asked, astonished. "No one has actually seen it. I have only read about it in the history of Waterfall City!"
"Centaur are real," Zhao Renshu confirmed. "They are not immortal. Eating their flesh will not make anyone immortal."
"Since there is a magic talisman to create a portal," Lim Peizhi suggested, thinking quickly, "let us make it here on the wall, and then send all these people out!"
"This method does not work for everybody," Zhao Renshu explained, shaking his head. "Only mythical creatures, spirits, demons can venture through the portal entrance."
Guozhao Zhiqiang looked at Ping'an, a dawning realization on his face. His eyes widen and voice shaken, he asked, "Shimu... Does that mean I am not a human?"
Ping'an nodded, confirming his unspoken question.
"I believe your first master suspects that you are not entirely human," Zhao Renshu added, looking at Guozhao Zhiqiang, then frowning. "Now... The only question is, will the Centaur soldiers come?"
