Chapter 416 - Chapter 18: Royal Audience (I)

As always, Giliath demands your power stones!

*

The nobility, at least in Western Zemuria, is quite dominant. It is especially so within Erebonia. Most of its regions are split up into provinces, to which it is ruled by nobility. These nobles particularly fall under what are called the "Four Great Houses". Cayenne Dukedom, Albarea Dukedom, the Rogner House, and the Hyarms House. These nobles ultimately responded to His Majesty the Emperor, who stood at the very top of the chain. But when it came to governing and such, these nobles would maintain the region they were assigned to.

As far as Heimdallr goes, it has a cabinet known as the Imperial Diet, which is mostly governed by its Governor. The father of another Class VII member Machias Regnitz would come to hold this position. But there stood a position above that, which was the highest one could achieve inside the Imperial Diet.

The seat of the Chancellor.

To which my father, Giliath Osborne, will ascend to. He will earn quite the moniker for himself in the coming years.

The Blood and Iron Chancellor.

But this will be a story for the future. It is S1187 right now, and my father becoming Chancellor is not set to take place for a few years at least. I still have some wiggle room to work with, growing up and all that fun stuff. And training!

And after that, no doubt will my life become turbulent.

That's it as far as Erebonia is concerned. As for Liberl, things are quite different here.

Nobles were much more scarce here in Liberl. They don't play a dominant factor. It is mostly the Royal Family, or in this instance, the Auslese Family.

Yours truly just happens to have Auslese blood running through his veins. My mother is in this family, apparently.

As for what Queen Alicia does, she holds an event called the Royal Assembly, which takes place once a year. She gathers up all the mayors across the land who supervise their respective city, and discuss politics and outcomes. All that jazz. Even the Dean of Jenis Royal Academy partakes in these affairs. This school is where most royalty of Liberl attend, and it will likely pertain to me too.

That pretty much sums Liberl up in a nutshell. This country is far more tight-knit than Erebonia is, and that is due to how big Liberl is. It is one of the smaller countries. Not the smallest though.

I will add one point, and that is the Royal Army. Cassius Bright is one of its top-brass right now, holding the position of Colonel. He doesn't hold the highest rank. There are figures who hold the rank of General, just like my father. The top dog leading Liberl's Royal Army goes by the name General Morgan. He is quite old, but hasn't kicked the bucket yet. He is still on active duty. Whenever this guy decides to retire, Colonel Bright will likely take up the reins.

It is a shame that won't come to happen, as the Hundred Days War is looming on the horizon. It is none other than General Morgan who will lead Liberl in combat against Erebonia, while Colonel Bright acts as the head tactician. It was thanks to him Liberl was able to turn the tide into their favor, and ultimately come out on top.

It will be interesting to see how things develop from here. After all, I'm now in the middle of all this. An external factor, and a lost prince. Will things play out the same?

I felt a strange, imposing air waft around the room, making the atmosphere a bit stifling. But at the same time, I felt strangely familiar, as if it was a sense of dejavu. It was as if I was returning home after a very, very long visit.

A few moments passed by in silence after Giliath requested me to watch him, in an attempt for this to be a "lesson". We'll see what the old man is cooking. All this while, I saw him remain polite and quiet, contrary to how he behaves back inside our home. Perhaps it was the soldiers lined up on each side that made this an official greeting. The two from earlier were not present, unfortunately. They've been given duty to patrol Grancel City. They haven't returned since then. That meant the white falcon Sieg wasn't here either.

Back to where we were walking earlier, I saw Giliath take slow and steady steps. It was as if each step held significance. He never went out of turn as he held me. He moved all past the soldiers, and calmly waited.

Moving back to present time, Colonel Bright was the first to speak, which introduced us. He then retreated from the Throne Room, leaving just the two of us. Father still did not act yet.

There was one surprising figure I wasn't expecting to see beside Queen Alicia. It wasn't Princess Klaudia. She was likely still residing in her private quarters. I did see Hilda dismiss herself shortly after Colonel Bright bid us farewell, likely to tend to Princess Klaudia. It truly was just father and I presently before Her Majesty. That is, if we don't include this person I wasn't expecting.

I am curious about Princess Klaudia's situation and whether or not she has caught wind of our arrival, but seeing her not present here, it's possible she hadn't yet.

With Cassius out of the picture for now, I could only sigh, observing this new aged man before me. He had a full beard and mustache. He was also wearing the soldier's uniform as the others did. The only difference was that he was wearing a cape. It flew downward, bearing Liberl's crest. The white falcon. He also held a red shawl on his left shoulder.

This man is General Morgan, one of Liberl's only active Generals residing in the Royal Army. Even Cassius Bright stood beneath this man as a subordinate. General Morgan could bark orders at Cassius and follow them. Father didn't seem fazed by this man's presence though. Both of them carried a similar amount of aura. That made sense as both of these figures were Generals!

During this moment of silence, Father took a couple steps. He bent his left arm, forming a fist. Bringing his left arm to his chest, and placing his right arm behind his back, he bowed. I'm guessing this is a form often used when greeting one another. Father remained polite, and finally spoke out to Her Majesty. His voice was both firm and strong.

"Allow me to extend my utmost gratitude granting this royal assembly here today, Your Majesty. It is with great honor to grace us with this unannounced visit. For that, you have my deepest apologies.", Giliath began to say. "I am Giliath Osborne, as you've heard by now. Brigadier General of the Erebonian Empire Imperial Army. The feats you've had under your name know no bounds. It truly is an honor meeting you today. I extend my heartfelt greetings.", Giliath continued, finishing his introduction. Boy was he formal alright. I underestimated him when he instructed me to observe this.

This did beg the question, though. Was this his first visit with Her Majesty the Queen, or have they met before? I am not sure if we ever found out about this in the games. To do this introduction, my father placed me by his side. Seeing as I was back down on the ground, I mimicked his gesture, and also bowed. General Morgan raised his eyes seeing me do this, but remained silent. If he spoke now, he would be speaking out of turn. He knew that he served under the Queen.

"I-I also give my heartfelt greetings to you, Your Majesty!", I said, deciding to follow suit. Hearing that, I saw my father crack a smile. I wasn't sure if Queen Alicia was expecting me to say anything, but she also smiled.

In response, we all saw Her Majesty suddenly stand up from her throne. Releasing a hidden pressure herself, that smile vanished, and she turned serious. Just like that, this royal assembly had begun!
