Just when happiness reaches its peak, tragedy ensues.
In the middle of the night, James Black discovered Jane Sampson had developed a fever.
James had grown accustomed to sleeping with Jane in his arms, and he awoke to her murmuring in the middle of the night. When he opened his eyes, he felt the abnormal temperature of the person in his arms.
He called out to Jane, who opened her eyes in a hazy state, looking at him with a particularly pained expression. Her voice was weak as she said, "James, my head feels so heavy, my nose is stuffed up, I can't breathe."
James got up to take Jane's temperature and saw it was 39.5 degrees Celsius. He was so scared that he hurriedly dressed Jane, drove the car, and took her to the hospital.
By the time they arrived at the hospital, Jane was delirious with fever, clinging to James, crying and refusing to let go of him. Only then did James realize how difficult it was to pacify Jane when she was sick.
