Chapter 43 - Chapter 18: Beast for A Beast Part 3

"Even if we die here, it matters nothing, but…" that person paused, looking towards the blade in their hand and taking a deep breath. "Earlier, we were powerless, so we ran, but now I don't want to run.

" They started moving towards the herd of beasts and turned towards him for the last time and added, "If we died, what change will it do? We all are already ready to die anyway."

"But… but this death is… I mean this death… this…" that person tried to say something but failed to do so. They moved their head to see that person from the last time, but they were still standing calmly in their place. They felt something around their feet and looked down and burst into cries and tears.

"Why… why is this happening? What do you all want, and why us? What have we done? Why?" they roared, seeing the head of the person taken just a few minutes ago with them. Their face was still spilling blood, but it had a calm smile on it.

"Why have you all died? Why are you all smiling?" they fell to their knees. "Don't you have family, children? Why are you fighting?"

"For the future, for possibility, for a chance," a person behind him said and struck a few beasts with their blade, and then they faced the same fate. The beasts were playing with him, but something changed when his eyes' color started to change.

The beasts playing with the corpses of the Yava Viskans looked towards him, and the beast playing with him suddenly started roaring in excitement.

"If we died, will it change anything? But if she does, then the only chance of resistance we have dies because…" before he could complete his sentence, beasts started to peel his skin and body apart. After eating his flesh for a few minutes, they spat it out in disappointment.

That person was trying to stand on their feet but was so afraid they tried their best, but their legs wouldn't work.

Meanwhile, Carciyan reached in front of her, where Tlenion was already present.

"What is going on there, Carciyan?" Tlenion asked, holding him by his shoulder.

"There is… I mean there is something happening… Yes, something… I mean…" "Return to your senses, Carciyan. They sacrificed their lives and will continue to unless we succeed, so gather strength and face the truth. We have no time for this."

Carciyan wiped his tears and tried to stand without support. His eyes were still wet, but he was ready, but when the battle reached his ears, he closed his eyes. "Carciyan, be strong," Tlenion muttered, hoping for him to accept it.

"Carciyan, I tried my best to move her, but it appears like she is frozen in her place, or more like stuck on the ground. Something strange is going on here, but I can't find what is wrong."

"Okay, so we pull her by strength or dig the ground. What do you think?" Carciyan asked Tlenion, trying to ignore the battle cry, but his tears, which he quickly wiped, were showing his failure.

Tlenion put his hand on Carciyan's shoulder and hugged him tightly. He shouted, "CARCIYAN, this is not your fault! This is their decision, and you have no right to stop them. What was their sacrifice worth? STOP THINKING ABOUT THE FALLEN!"

Tears started rolling across Carciyan's face, but this time Tlenion held his hand firmly, letting the tears follow. "Forget those faces, forget you ever knew them. Remember your duty, ALETAR CARCIYAN.

You too are a Yava Viskan, like that boy, that fallen man, and those fallen before you and going to fall after you. Remember who you are, what you are, what do you think you are?"

"I am… I… I am a failure," Carciyan tried to look into Tlenion's eyes but failed.

"Who are you, Carciyan?" "I am a person who failed to protect my people, I failed their trust," Carciyan shouted in his face and then burst into tears.

"Who are you, Carciyan?" Tlenion repeated the question again and again until Carciyan answered, "I am a failed Yava Viskan, a failure."

"Failure or success does not matter.

You are a Yava Viskan, so fight! Fight for hope for the people of Yava Viskans, rise for the people of Yava Viskans, and rise for the fallen soldiers' hope, and rise for the name of our ancestors."

Carciyan looked into his eyes with self-doubt. "Can I…?" But his sentence was cut short by Tlenion's words, "Rise, Descendant of Commander ALETAR VERANG!"

Carciyan looked towards Tlenion in shock and muttered, "How do you…?" but shook his head. "I am sorry, I wasn't aware my decision would be the reason for their deaths.

I am really sorry, but now…" His eyes were glowing with the same look his fallen warriors once had in their eyes, and the glow of energy was so powerful that the air started to shake.

"Let's do this, Tlenion," he said, looking towards Tlenion, who nodded his head in acceptance. Another beam of light appeared in the area, covering Tlenion in the same energy as his friend, but it was a bit less than Carciyan's energy.

Meanwhile, as they were talking, many more Yava Viskans had fallen. Only a few of them were alive, and the rest were either dead or being eaten. All the brave Yava Viskans had already died, as the battlefield wasn't once filled with their screams except for battle cries, but things started to change now.

The final Yava Viskans brave enough to fight had fallen on the ground with the same smile, and now the beasts started attacking the fallen Yava Viskans' bodies, pulling them apart.

As time passed by, their speed and cruelty only increased. The beasts ate their bodies for a few seconds and spat them out in disappointment before moving on to the next.
