Seeing Hannes get up, Guan Yuming, who was hiding outside the restaurant, quickly left. "If I had known, I would have taken the pictures with my phone myself. Now, I missed the chance to capture Hannes meeting his lover in secret."
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Guan, this is my fault, I apologize."
Upon hearing Sunday's apology, Guan Yuming felt bad immediately. "Forget it, it's not your fault, it's mine for not figuring out how to use it properly. Ah, what a pity."
Little did he know, the photos had already been taken. William just didn't want him to know about it.
Hannes walked out of the restaurant with a heavy heart, completely unaware that a car was following him. He went straight to a farm in the countryside. As soon as he arrived, his nephew Morrison Hannes and some of his men were there to greet him.
Bringing Morrison into the farm's study, Hannes poured two glasses of whiskey. Initially, he wanted Morrison to meet Richard Bromley, the commander of the anti-air division. But now, with William involved, Hannes considered telling Morrison to meet William first but remembered William's words to carry on as usual. After thinking it over, he dismissed the idea and said, "I need you to go to London and meet someone for me."
"Who?" Morrison responded.
"Commander Bromley."
"Bromley? The one from the anti-air division?" Morrison looked at his uncle in surprise. "But he's..."
"Stop, Morrison. I know what you're about to say, but I didn't orchestrate the bombing in London. I'm not going to take the fall for someone else. You're the person I trust the most, and only you going will show sincerity. Tell Bromley I've already found a lead, but I need more time."
"I understand. I'll head out right away," Morrison nodded.
"Be careful. This is more complicated than we thought. It's not just about the bombing anymore," Hannes added cryptically.
Seeing his nephew's confusion, Hannes didn't elaborate further and instead emphasized, "Be careful. No one can know you're meeting Bromley."
"Don't worry, I'll be discreet."
"Good." After sending his nephew off, Hannes took out his phone and called William.
"Hello, did you just send your nephew to meet Bromley?" William said as soon as Hannes answered, shocking him. Morrison had only left a minute ago, and William, all the way in London, knew about it already. "Damn it, did you bug my house? Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Haha, relax. I'm not interested in such outdated methods. But your little lover flew straight to London after separating from you. Hannes, what do you think the public would say if they found out your lover is part of the anti-air faction?"
If that happened, Hannes would lose his position. And with Morrison going to meet Bromley, if the UD got wind of it, Hannes could end up dead. "Fine. What do you want from me?"
"First, send me a picture of the back of your ears. I'm not joking, nor am I messing with you. This is important. Once I'm sure you're clean, I'll explain."
Seeing how serious William sounded, Hannes thought it over and said, "Let's do a video call. That way, I can be sure it's really you."
"OK." A few minutes later, they connected on video, and Hannes relaxed when he saw that it was indeed William. "Hello, Mr. Devonshire, it's good to see you."
Hannes then proactively showed the back of his ears to William.
"Nice to see you too, Mr. Hannes. Let me cut to the chase. I've heard the Valentine Group has a chip factory in Ireland. I want you to take it out."
"That's it?"
"I mean completely destroy it."
"Damn it, are you crazy? That factory contributes $300 million in taxes to Ireland every year and provides 21% of Europe's mobile phone chips. Destroying it would drive all of Ireland mad, and they'd investigate thoroughly. If they found out I was behind it, my outcome would be far worse than now."
"No. Once this is over, I think you might end up being seen as a hero. Let's meet in person. Some things are better discussed face-to-face. Lastly, remember this, Hannes. This concerns many lives. If you dare to inform Richmond Valentine, I guarantee I'll take out your daughter. Because if you really betray us, it won't just be your own life at risk; you'll be threatening me and the entire world."
"Damn it, what's going on?" Hannes was bewildered. As a deputy minister, he was essentially just a glorified enforcer. Since when did saving the world become his responsibility? After a long pause, he said, "Since it's so serious, if you're free, you're welcome to come to my farm, and we can talk in person."
"Do you have any good Macallan whiskey at your place?"
Hannes was stunned for a moment. Weren't they just talking about saving the world? How did this turn into a conversation about Macallan? Is this really William Devonshire?
However, as Ireland's deputy security minister, it wouldn't be difficult for him to get some Macallan, which was produced in Ireland. "I do, even Macallan 40-year-old if you want."
"OK. Get it ready. I'll be there in half an hour. By the way, I noticed your bulletproof vest is an older model. Want me to bring you a new one as a gift?"
Hannes remembered that his current bulletproof vest was from William's company, and he was tempted. "I couldn't possibly accept."
"Don't be shy. If you feel bad, just gift me some Macallan reserve in return. It's settled then."
"Uh..." Before Hannes could say anything else, William ended the video call.
Sitting there in silence for a few minutes, Hannes stood up, opened the study door, and shouted to his trusted aide, Nicky, "Nicky, come here!"
Nicky, who had been helping in the kitchen, quickly put down his knife and walked over to the study. "What's up, boss?"
"I remember the Thomas family has a lot of Macallan reserve. Take some people and bring all the bottles over. Also, call twenty men to come here, just in case anything happens to disturb my important guest. And remember, you have half an hour. This needs to be done in half an hour."
Nicky quickly shook his head and refused. "Take all of Thomas's Macallan? No way, boss. He'd shoot me on the spot."
"Tell him I'll pay 1.2 times the market price. If he doesn't agree, then tell him not to come to me for help in the future. And if he has problems, I'll make sure to side with others against him."
"Got it. If you put it that way, there'll be no issue," Nicky nodded and headed out with two men in two cars.
Half an hour later, at 7 p.m., the roar of a high-powered motorcycle echoed through the farm.
Just as Hannes was waiting, his phone rang. It was William. "I'm here, Mr. Hannes. Tell your men to clear the way. I don't want anyone else to know about our meeting."
"OK. Come on in. I'll be waiting for you at the farm gate."
