City Y, Central Hospital.
In front of the cardiology ward, Jiang Shuya stood alone in the corridor, her face a picture of anxiety.
It was not yet one in the afternoon when Dai Ning arrived at the ward.
"How is he?"
Dai Ning intentionally lowered her voice, and only then did Jiang Shuya notice Dai Ning had arrived.
She lifted her head and said, "He's still asleep most of the time, awake twice in between, but then he closed his eyes again soon after."
Dai Ning's face, too, was etched with worry.
Dai Feng had been an army veteran and was always in good health. His only issue was a short temper, prone to quarreling with Jiang Shuya over trivial matters, with their marriage worsening over the past two years especially.
A few days ago, they argued again over some trifles. Jiang Shuya did not give in as usual, and the two almost came to blows, stopped only by their housekeeper's intervention.
