Song Jialun's POV
As my father and I walk on our way out of the main gate, we can't stop thinking of the discussion that occurs during the court meeting.
"What do you think, Father? Are there possible wars that will break out in different tribes surrounding our empire?" I ask.
We both stopped and faced each other. "When it comes to stopping wars and invasions, these events will always be possible. All we can do is to be prepared and make sure that our people won't suffer."
We start walking again. We showed our gate pass and left the imperial ground. As we headed back to our manor, we saw my wife standing in a corner of the market, eating haws.
"Lin'er!" I called.
She looks to her left, and our eyes meet. She raises her palm and waves. I think she's on patrol. "Let her work," Father commented.
"Wait for me in that noodle shop, Father. I'll talk to her a little while," I remarked. He smiled and tapped my shoulder.
