Alexander's POV
It has only been one hour since dad started telling me the thing he has done and I am scared to shit. Dad began from the worst because those were the ones he remembers while he was trying to find the file where everything Micheal has done was written, it was a file that was beta was responsible to fill, so that the next beta doesn't have to start from the scratch and dear lord, he didn't spare any details.
While dad was talking about what Michael did in the first month he came, someone knocked on the door and I sighed in relief, but was terrified again when I felt that it was Michael. I could smell his scent. It was so nice.
"Come in," Dad said, looking at the door.
He entered, closed the door behind him, and took a seat beside me on the chair opposite Dad.
"You called me, head alpha?"
"Yes, it's time to discuss both of your duties," Dad closed the file and leaned back in the chair.
"What do you mean, Dad?" I frowned. What did he mean?
"Alex, you will be taking your position as the head alpha." he turned to look at Michael, and we knew what was coming. "Michael, you will be taking your position as the luna of the pack."
"When?" Michael asked. He seemed unfazed, but internally, he was as surprised as I was.
"In a few months, start preparing. Do you have a replacement for you in your mind?" Dad asked Michael, who shook his head.
"Not yet, head alpha, but if you say, I will start searching for one. I can handle being the luna and the beta together if you want. He was acting so professionally, but inside he was falling apart, and so was I.
"It would be too much work. Find a replacement for you."
"Yes, head alpha. But are you sure I can be the luna?" This question from him surprised me and Dad both.
"Of course you can! Did anyone tell you otherwise?!" I growled. Who dared to think that my mate isn't capable enough of becoming a luna of my pack! The pack he has been working and staying in since he was eighteen.
Michael patted my thigh and shook his head, "No one told me that. No one objects to me becoming the luna."
"Then what is the problem?" Dad asked with a frown. I am wondering the same. What is the problem?
"I am a beta, I can't give an heir, and Alex is the only child you have, head alpha. The pack would also need someone who can give them an heir, another generation for the pack."
"The pack has a lot of orphan pups; we can always adopt one of them," I said. I didn't like the way he was talking about himself, but I will deal with that later when I have him alone.
"I agree with Alex, Michael. This is not traditional, but it works; it is a member of our pack at the end of the day."
"As you say, head alpha. I will start looking for my replacement," Dad nodded at him.
"You are dismissed," Dad waved Michael away, who gave him a curt nod and a pat on my head and left.
"The pat on my head was not professional! He was being so professional with you!" I huffed, whereas Dad laughed.
"Maybe because you are his alpha, he finds it hard to be professional around you. He always did" now that dad said that, he did! He would always act at least a little bit unprofessionally when I was around him, and only with me!
"Now, should we get back to 'why you should be scared of your mate' file?"
I gulped, "It doesn't seem like I have a choice."
"You don't, son. Now, we will talk about how he beat an alpha to almost death one month after coming to the pack."
"He is scary..." I gulped. My mate is scary, "But most of the time he was either protecting himself or the weak," that made me smile a little.
"Yeah, but he won't hesitate to beat you."
"I know." I took a deep breath and started mentally preparing myself for what was about to come. "Let's start again!"
"Okay!"
