Chapter 221 - Chapter 221: Speed Through The Jungle!

"Yeah…I don't know what It was though…sounded like someone screamed my name…" The Captain responded, sweeping his legs over the side of the bed, grabbing his pants, pulling them on before grabbing a shirt and his sash and hastily pulling them all on.

Turning around, Leroy shook the bed frame of the bunk, waking up the navigator On the bottom bunk. "Kirk! Kirk!" He said in a hurried voice.

"Wh-What!" The navigator pushed up in bed, a simple tank top on, worry in his voice

"Screams. Get to the Whip staff, pull the palm closer to the shore!" He spoke rushing over to the mast in the middle of the room, slapping it and waking up the rest of the crew from their slumbers

"What is it leroy?" Raven asked, a silk nightgown on, sleep mask pushed to her brow.

"No time to explain, someones calling for me! I think it might be Lantis!" He spoke as he and Dezzi both scurried up the latter, pushing open the hatch to the the top deck.

Jeanne began to awake at the sudden noise, looking over the crows nest where she'd been sleeping, enjoying the humid air. Bonnet On her head

"Leroy? Whats going On?!" She asked in the aame tone as kirk "Jeanne! See if you can see anything on the coast!" Jeanne rarely ever heard Leroy Like this, especially giving an order. "Aye aye"

Moments later, with the crew all awake, and sails set, Jeanne called out from a top the nest "I dont see anything!"

"Dezzi, come with me! He may be hurt! You guys golly But make sure their isn't anything out here!" He said jumping over the edge, bare feet landing into the sand before sprinting off Into the forest at an astonishing speed! Dezzi keeping up from behind!

"Not going too fast for you, am I Dez?" The Question seemed like sarcasm. But the Captain wanted to make sure that the Rabbit Mink didn't fall behind "Not at all!" They Responded. They were certainly putting in far more effort to keep up with their Red Sashed Captain, but if Leroy was worried about whoever it was out there, Dezzi was going to make sure they stuck close

The Flora of the thick jungle brushed past them, birds with large beaks fluttering feathers as the two rushed through the Thicket of Plants and trees.

"You think they'll be okay?" Noir asked the others as Kále began walking through the Thicket where Dezzi and Leroy had gone off to "Hey Urchin! Where are you goin'?!" Noir Questioned "Leroy said for us to make sure the Beach was clear! Make sure whoever's in there isn't also out here!" While the Captain's Words weren't very specific, the Chef was used to deciphering just what they meant

A small twinge of annoyance crossed the First Mate's brow. "Who you callin' Urchin?!" Spinning on his heel he spoke briefly "Wherever he goes. We go. We'd be going this way anyway."

"Try not to fall behind…" Kále finished as he began walking deeper into the Jungle

"He does have a point." Raven said, crossing her arms beneath her chest. "He is the Captain. And Whether or not we like it. Our best bet is to be there for him."

"Yeah…" Kirk agreed next to Raven. "Even if he can be an Idiot. He's still our Captain. Jeanne!" Kirk called out above to the crow's nest. "We Clear?"

"Seems like it! I see smoke about half a kilometer inland!" The Smoke was barely visible. A result of Lantis' keen survivalist skill. As the Markswoman spoke she puffed into Steam and reappeared down below. Adjusting the Magnifying goggles back to atop her bandana. Eyes shifted to a small sailship that was pulled ashore.

"Let's get going- We wouldn't wanna miss the action." Jeanne gave a smirk

The Captain and Doctor rushed through the bramble, and into a clearing. The Amber light of the flickering flames from a dimming campfire in the middle of the opening. The tall jungle trees cast long gangly shadows that crept across the ground.

Dezzi came to a stop, ears that had been at attention folded back, eyes widening as their shoes knocked up dirt from the abrupt stop. The Captains Barefeet doing the same

Before the Two, a massive beast that towered at a solid 3 meters tall loomed behind the dimming blaze, arms, and legs made of thick roots and spindly vines, Dry Stalks like Straw poking out and intertwining the wood like ligaments on a muscle, Despite the Spendily and thin appearance of the shape, the clothing that the Figure wore was pulled tight across the wood, rippling across the fabric like cut and flexed muscle on an expertly chiseled physique

The Head of the Figure was like a ragged sack, yet was a part of the bramble and mess of straw, wood, and roots-like skin, eyes torn out against the fabric-esque skin with a small blaze burning bright deep within.

The Shape held in their extended arm, the Limp body of Lantis, Blood soaking the sharpened roots that pierced in and out of the stomach of the Elderly man like a Tree's roots bursting through moist soil, his intestines surely shredded!

Brizman, the Shape in Question, Turned his fiery gaze to Leroy and Dezzi, a long tongue made of a stripped piece of root stuck out the side of the ragged and torn mouth, stretched into the shape of a smile. Smoke and embers flowed from his mouth as he spoke in a deep raspy voice

"Seems like we've got company!" With one fluid motion Brizman tossed the limp body of the Antiquarian across the clearing! Eyes locked on Leroy!

In a dash of tremendous speed Leroy intercepted Lantis! Catching and Cradeling him Close! Skidding to a stop! Dezzi ran up behind him. "Lantis! Lantis! Can you hear me? I'm here!"
