Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : A Reason

"I want you to survive",

He says, Clyde senses no feeling of deception from his word but he has no reason to trust him either.

'You want me to survive? What a joke",

Clyde said to his face, the first person who ever care about commoners died hundreds of years ago, no one cares about the weak in this world. So why would a guy like Mr. Burg give a chance to a guy like him to improve. Mr. Burg opens the door with the sole intention of leaving but still allows the vial to remain with Clyde. As the door opens he halts and stare at me through the Conner of his eyes.

"You better improve your manners when talking to those older than you....young man",

He leaves the room and Clyde remains still unmoved by his display of a chance to grow stronger.

......

Inside Mr. Burg's office he contemplates whether what he did would be of no other effect with the idea of proving his theory even with the chances of success is soo low around 1%. He stares through the window clear signs of the approaching night could the seen outside at this he pulls out a folder and within this folder is by far the information the school has about Clyde. Though he is poor in the practical aspect he excels at the theoretical part. From what Mr. Burg has studied of him so far it seems he is honing not only his intellect but his physique in addition. Perhaps it is possible to create a weapon out of him, a weapon that that existed eons ago.

...St. Gillian Orphanage...

..........

"What would I do if I became stronger than anyone?",

This is a question Clyde normally threw around as a joke to lighten up his mood with a lot of daydreaming.

*Knock

He knocks upon the door of the old orphanage before he walks inside, the knocking is a bad habit from his days off pranking the sisters and mother Rosa. Upon his entry he is met by sister Anne the youngest among the four remaining sisters, there is a smile on her face which is highly stressed to hide the black bags under her eyes. Running an orphanage in an time like this is not easy, money is going out but none is coming in. There have been some cut backs but still it is barely on it's feet, most the sisters left. Clyde does not blame them after all who would board a sinking ship but the few loyal remain still offering free service.

"How are you C?",

She comes over and ruffles his hair quite a bit, right now he can tell her smile right now is genuine. Her dark eyes sparkle slightly behind her brown bangs, she is petite but still has enough height to tower over Clyde who is still growing.

"Good",

He replies shortly just hoping to at least get some warmth and continue the conversation. She raises a brow trying to be a little skeptical about it all, so far among the 41 orphans in the building I am the only one with quite a tad to write about. Just a tad can be less at times but nothing more.

"You got bullied again, didn't you?",

"Nope,"

"Really",

"I was being sarcastic",

"You can be sarcastic?",

He tilts my head slightly to the left as if in question.

"Why can't I ?"

She shakes her head and whispers "nothing" under her breath.

"Can I help out with anything?",

He asks in an attempt to change the topic to which is shook her head and gives the same reply.

"Before you go can I ask you about something?",

He looks her in the eye then lowers his gaze, the question he wants to ask is one that might make him shape another path one void of from the need to get stronger.

"What would you do if you were give a chance to be stronger than anyone in this world?",

She looks at him bewildered by not the question but also by Clyde himself. She grabs his hand then leads him outside.

"Do you see those stars?",

She asked and he nods in reply she then points to another star one that shines brighter than the others.

"You see that star, it is the brightest among the stars and also the loneliest, if one day you try to set yourself apart from others by chasing after power or even wealth a time will come when you will realize there was no meaning to your goal. Why would I want to be the strongest when no one can challenge me to a normal battle. At this stage a feeling of deception arrives on the concept of power. Why shine brighter than everyone and lose everything in return.",

She pauses and looks at Clyde directly.

"When I awoke as a beast tamer I didn't follow that dream, I followed that of caring for others instead. The road to power is made from the blood, tears, bones and sweat. Such a road comes with cost no matter how good ones reason to follow it maybe.''
