Synopsis
Notice!!! - The book is going under major revision. Tame or be Tamed?... How about choosing to Devour the enemy Beasts? Luel, a 25-year-old guy who suffers from early retirement due to his poor body condition caused by too much working stress at his past jobs, decided to livestream his days of playing the famous VRMMORPG RAIDS ONLINE. It was only supposed to be a pastime, a recreation activity for Luel to gain his confidence to become a part of society once again, and a way to possibly earn some income before his savings reach not just zero but negative as well. However, as Luel became stronger as a player and more popular as a live streamer, he slowly realized and uncovered the truth behind what he thought was just a game.

Chapter 1 - Re: Prologue

RAIDS ONLINE – Ragnarok Artificial Intelligence Defense System Online

In a distant future, creatures known as Ragnarok Beasts will emerge from within the Earth and bring about its destruction, wiping out all lifeforms—including the human race.

However, not all hope is lost. As humanity's greatest creation, a massive artificial intelligence megastructure built on the Moon, known as RAIDS ONLINE, initiates a countermeasure to change the fate of the Earth.

By linking itself from the future to the past—specifically to the day it first came online—RAIDS ONLINE manages to communicate with humanity in the present and transfers their consciousness into the distant future, where they inhabit avatars it has created, known as Devour Beast.

As the Devour Beasts defeat and absorb the powers of the Ragnarok Beasts, RAIDS ONLINE is able to analyze their data and determine the locations of Ragnarok Beasts lying dormant within the Earth, awaiting the day they will awaken and bring ruin to the world.

Armed with this information, humanity of the present can locate, contain, and eliminate the Ragnarok Beasts—altering the future and saving the Earth.

This was the synopsis written on the back of the box for the famous virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game (VRMMORPG) known as RAIDS ONLINE.

It was only a game… or so the players thought.
