Kei nodded and left.

Sensing what was about to happen, Hayate's tail started wagging furiously. He barked twice, unable to contain his excitement.
Off to the side, Shadow watched, a flicker of envy in his sharp black eyes.
"Don't worry," Kei murmured. "Your turn will come."
He turned his attention to Hayate's status page.

From the larger ingot, exactly 100 grams melted into a blue glowing liquid and rose upward, hovering before surging into Hayate's head like a stream of divine energy.
"Woof! Woof!!"
Hayate howled and reared up, taking on the posture of a divine beast howling at the moon.
Whispers of wind rose instantly, building in power until a visible whirlwind surged around his body.
The cyclone danced around him like a warrior's cloak.
Mighty. Majestic. Storm-bound.
"Screeeee!!"
The friction between crosswinds generated a piercing shriek.
It was a signal.
The swirling winds responded like an army receiving orders.
And their target—Hayate's lungs and throat.
He inhaled.
His body inflated.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
Then—compression.
In the blink of an eye, his body snapped back to normal. But his eyes—his eyes were different.
They glowed with an emerald light, as if a storm now rested behind his gaze.
