"I..."
When Alex heard Jim Bronn's greeting, he looked at him with a smile and was about to reply—but before he could speak, the sound of car horns blared behind him.
Honk honk honk...
Alex paused and turned to look back, immediately seeing a sightseeing bus heading their way.
"Dear tourists, we are now at the famous Zoldyck family base, Mount Kukulu..."
The sightseeing bus pulled to a stop near Alex and his group. The door opened, and a smiling female tour guide stepped out to introduce the site.
Behind her, a stream of tourists poured out of the bus. Each one looked at the Trial Gate with expressions of awe and curiosity.
Naturally, they also noticed Alex and his companions. Without exception, the men were captivated by Shiba and Mia, while the women cast admiring glances at Alex.
Handsome men and beautiful women attract attention wherever they go.
Because of Alex's group, the tourists' curiosity about the Zoldyck family was quickly overshadowed.
Of course, not everyone was distracted.
"Out of the way!"
Among the tourists, five or six rough-looking men and women suddenly shoved their way forward aggressively, pushing people aside and heading straight for the Trial Gate.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
"You can't just push people around!"
"Who are they? What are they trying to pull?"
Tourists shouted in protest, some stumbling to the ground and glaring angrily at the intruders. But in truth, no one dared to pursue them—these people were clearly dangerous.
"What's with these guys? Are they here to start trouble with the Zoldyck family?" Shiba asked in surprise as she and Mia approached Alex after the bus's arrival.
"They don't have any traces of aura. Looks like they're just regular people," Mia observed in a low voice, watching the group head for the Trial Gate.
Alex crossed his arms, intrigued by the scene. "Not everyone understands what the Zoldyck family is about. In the underground world, even a single photo of a Zoldyck family member can fetch a high price. With such a bounty, there will always be those blinded by greed."
"They're pretty bold," Shiba said with a chuckle, brushing her hair back.
The ignorant fear nothing—and that was exactly what was playing out.
Alex hadn't expected to encounter such a scene during his visit. It reminded him of the moment Gon and his friends first arrived in the original story.
But given the Zoldyck family's notoriety, it wasn't surprising that people kept showing up, hoping to profit off them despite the danger.
"Move aside! I'll blow this damn door open!"
The group of five or six wasn't empty-handed. They were carrying bags and cases, and one of them pulled a rocket launcher from a box.
With a loud shout, he hoisted it onto his shoulder, aimed at the Trial Gate, and fired.
BOOM!!!
The rocket exploded against the gate with a thunderous blast. Flames and smoke filled the air, obscuring the view.
"Ahhh!!!"
The sudden explosion sent the tourists into a panic. Some screamed and dropped to the ground, while one ran back to the bus in terror.
In contrast, Alex and his companions remained calm, watching coldly.
When the smoke cleared, the gate stood completely unscathed.
"What?! How is this possible? Why didn't that stupid door break?!" the man with the rocket launcher shouted in shock.
"Looks like they've got some real defenses. Makes sense—this is the Zoldyck family we're talking about," another said with a sneer. "Get the grappling hooks. We're climbing over!"
Clearly, they had come prepared—not just with explosives, but with climbing tools too.
They tossed grappling hooks that latched onto the top of the Trial Gate, then began scaling the ropes. One by one, they climbed up and dropped down inside.
"He doesn't seem concerned at all that people are breaking in," Mia said, nudging Alex's arm and nodding toward Jim Bronn nearby.
From the arrival of the bus to the rocket attack and even the intruders climbing over the gate, Jim Bronn hadn't reacted at all. He just stood there smiling.
"You'll see soon enough," Alex replied knowingly.
Almost as if on cue, a blood-curdling scream rang out from inside the Trial Gate.
"AHHH!!!"
It was abrupt—and just as abruptly, it ended.
At that moment, Jim Bronn casually returned to the guard station. When he came back out, he was carrying two metal buckets.
Creak...
A small door beside the Trial Gate opened inward, and a ferocious claw tossed out skeletons—bare bones wearing only tattered clothing.
"Ahhh!!!"
"Run!"
"There's a monster in there!"
The tourists near the bus shrieked in terror again. This time, they all scrambled back onto the bus in a frenzy, including the female tour guide.
VROOOM!!!
The engine roared, and the bus took off at racing speed, fleeing the scene with remarkable coordination.
