Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

Author's Note: Sorry for the late update. I had to edit this chapter first. Also, thank you to anyone who has decided to read my story, and I hope you all are enjoying it.

Verayah POV

"Why did you bring her here?" I heard a soft voice.

"What else was I supposed to do?" a male voice responded.

My head pounded as I blinked my eyes open.

A deep voice spoke, "You could have discussed this with us first before doing something so rash."

I lifted my head from where I sat. There were 4 people standing and facing away from me. Where? What happened?

The soft voice spoke again, "Did anyone at least see you?"

"No, she was in the garden by herself. The boy left her there."

The memories poured back into my mind and I straightened my back as I examined my predicament. My wrists were tied behind me and bound to something made of wood. I tried turning my wrist to loosen up the bindings, and I searched to my side to find something to free me but it was dim in the room I was in.

"She's awake."

I snapped my head back toward the group of people to find one of them with dark green eyes staring down at me. My eyes widened and my heart skipped as the rest of them turned around to look at me.

"Shoot," a man with brown hair pulled a dagger from his thigh.

I flinched as he walked closer to me. I opened my mouth, but he quickly covered it with his hand and forced the dagger against my neck.

"Scream and I will slice your throat open."

His voice sounded familiar. He was the one in the garden.

"It's not like anyone would hear her. They're all at the ceremony, remember?"

I looked toward the soft voice and saw a short woman with a frown on her face.

"Hey."

I looked back at the brown haired man.

"Do you understand me?"

My heart pounded quickly in my chest as I nodded. The man continued to stare into my eyes and proceed to push the dagger further against my neck. I held my breath and closed my eyes.

"That's enough. You're scaring her."

The pressure on my neck and mouth was quickly released, and I opened my eyes.

"That's the point," the man stood and glared down at me.

The man with dark green eyes stepped in front of the glaring man and bent down towards me, "Are you sure this is her?"

The short woman stepped forward and handed him a familiar looking lamp, "See for yourself."

He took the lamp from her, turned it on, and flashed it on my cheek.

The man's green eyes widened, "Amazing."

He lowered it and examined my neck, "How is this even possible?"

I cleared my throat and the man's green eyes stared into my own, "What do you want with me?" I said in a soft voice.

My heartbeat rang in my ears as he stared at me. His eyes shifted from my neck and back into my eyes. Why did I open my mouth?

The man turned the lamp off while still keeping his eyes on me, "We don't want anything."

I knitted my eyebrows, "Then why-,"

"It's just your existence isn't good."

My existence?

"I'm sure they told you that you're going to destroy the dragons and save us all, right?"

The man raised an eyebrow at me but I kept my mouth shut.

"It's quite the opposite. You are a sign that you're going to destroy us and humanity."

I frowned, "No, I wouldn't. I haven't even received any combat lessons. I want to be a heal-,"

The brown-haired man laughed, "That's exactly his point. How are you going to save us when you can't even protect yourself? The council is stupid to believe in such a prophecy."

Is the prophecy wrong? There has to be some truth to it since they kidnapped and all. But they have a point. I can't command an army or fight like our knights. I have never even held a sword. How am I supposed to save anyone when I couldn't even prevent myself from getting captured?

"You have been lied to," the green-eyed man spoke.

"The prophecy you know has been changed over time. The translations in different lands are even different."

I opened my mouth, "Then what's the truth? Who am I? What am I supposed to do?"

He opened his mouth but was interrupted by the short woman, "Why are you even telling her all this? What we need to do is figure out what to do with her."

I clenched my jaw as the man stood up, "You're right. I was just hoping-,"

"Hoping for what? She can't help us. You know what we have to do," the brown-haired man said.

The green-eyed man frowned and placed his hands on his hips, "That is out of the question."

The brown-haired man raised an eyebrow, "Is it really? With the amount of stuff we have already done, I'm surprised we haven't got thrown in prison yet."

The woman spoke, "Yeah and that's because I have to keep cleaning up after the both of you."

All three of them began to argue amongst themselves.

What is he talking about? They're not going to kill me, right? That wouldn't be right. I haven't done anything to them or anyone.

The rope rubbed against my wrist as I moved them. If I could get loose then, maybe? I froze as I heard the words that came out of the brown-haired man's mouth.

"Come on, what's a little more blood on your hands going to do?"

"I hate to admit it but he's right. What else can we do with her?"

The man looked at me and I stared into his green eyes. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. Is he really going to? My eyes began to burn as the man sighed and looked away from me.

"Alright," he said.

The brown haired man pulled out his dagger and began walking toward. My heart raced as I tried moving away from him but I stayed bound to the wood behind me.

The woman spoke, "Not here."

The man stopped and glanced behind him, "Then where?"

"We are too close to the ceremony. We need to go into the forest where no one would find her."

I spoke, "Hey?"

"That's too risky, someone might see us and what makes you think she will willingly come with us," They ignored me.

"Hey. I-I won't say anything."

Both of the men stared at each other. Why aren't they looking at me? Do they not want to face what they are about to do?

"Please," I searched my brain for something to say. Anything to convince them to let me go.

"I won't become the savior. I won't do anything," tears filled my vision as the realization of me not making out alive dawned on me.

"Please, my mom and dad. They're going to be devastated. I'm there only child-,"

"Shut Up!" the brown-haired man yelled at me and ripped a piece of his sleeve.

My eyes widened, and I froze as he made his way to me. He forced the piece of his sleeve in my mouth and tied it tightly around the back of my head.

Tears slid down my face as he gripped my jaw in his hand, "Listen, you're going to die so why don't you pray and hope you make it to heaven."

The man stood up and turned toward his group, "What is the plan?"
