Flain joined Flor and Itai because he wanted to ask Flor something.
"That green ring I have on my hand strengthens poison-based attacks. So I wanted to ask if there's a poison affinity and whether it's taught at the academy," Flain asked.
"It is taught. If you want, I'll show you where," Flor said with a smile.
"Hey Flain, that Third Eye teacher was really something. Even though I don't focus on close combat, so senses aren't as essential for me as for a warrior, I still found it interesting. I was thinking about what kind of magic you and I would choose, since necrotic isn't forbidden here. I liked dark. Poison doesn't sound bad either, but I'm leaning more toward dark," Itai chimed in.
"Poison affinity is the most advantageous for me since it'll be much stronger than other types because of the ring. So my choice was clear," Flain explained.
