Elara Voss:
The day started ordinary enough—at least, as ordinary as life could be while hiding in a secret castle, married to a vampire hunter, and carrying the unborn child of a half-vampire. I woke up with a vague sense of unease that I tried to shake off. Ronan and Lucien had decided to venture out for supplies, leaving me behind in the hidden castle's relative safety.
Safety.
It felt like such a fragile concept, especially now that my belly had grown round, a constant reminder of the life stirring within me. Still, I told myself everything would be fine. Ronan and Lucien were strong, they'd be back soon, and this castle was shielded by wards that should keep unwanted guests away.
I tried to pass the time as best I could.
