I still remember the day Callum—our first son—ran through the courtyard, shouting excitedly that the triplets were finally walking on their own. I had been in my workshop, surrounded by flickering candles and spell books older than some civilizations, trying to perfect a potion for Lucien's insomnia. (Vampires well hybrids like Lucien, it turns out, can still get stressed enough to lose sleep.)
Callum burst in, breathless, his hazel eyes wide. "Mom!" he gasped, "They're walking!"
