The house had been quiet for days, too quiet. King was starting to think maybe Leonard wasn't coming back, he was glad. He was able to do whatever and he delegated all of his tasks, the easier ones, he was glad, he hoped the vacation would take longer.
But it didn't, Leonard came back.
The call came in just before noon. One of the guards said Leonard had arrived an hour earlier, walked straight into the estate like he owned the place, which he did and asked for King by name. No extra words, no questions.
Just: "Where is he?"
That was enough to have King leave the training room and head straight for the main house, a low tension building in his chest. Leonard never just asked, he was summoned, and the way he said King's name… it didn't sit right. There was something else in the way he said it, like there was a cloud that was gathering above his head.
