'Did they catch on to my plan? I honestly expected a chase. It would have been more fun to take them out one after the other.' Tim thought, as he retraced his steps back towards where the slave traders were.
On getting to the spot that he bolted from minutes ago. He was surprised by the emptiness that greeted him.
The slave traders had left their spot. Supposedly they had resumed their journey.
"Shit. Are they really that cautious?" Tim said, as he looked at the trail that was left behind.
'They probably figured that I can't take them all on, that is why they decided not to chase.
That has to be the reason. It is a smart decision. They want to force my hand.' Tim thought as he stealthily moved towards their supposed location.

"Sir, are you sure that the boy will still come for us. It has been over an hour, yet we have seen no signs of the kid." The guard said as he looked at one of the leaders, Taz for a reply.
"You have to be patient. He will return. And when he does return, I will give him a pain far worse than he can ever imagine." Taz said with a devious grin on his face.
It was not the first time that he would be involved in a situation such as the one that he was in presently. Everyone that tries or wants to be a hero always comes back.
As for the thing that Tim did to Ottis's body, he was not too worried. This was a world where with mana, almost anything could become possible. So, seeing a black smoke completely devour a dead body in a single sweep was not too fascinating.
'So far, we have reached just half of our destination. This trade that we are going for. I hope it will not be a waste of my time." Idah the other leader said, as he looked around with caution.
Of the two leaders, he was the most cautious. Although it was Taz that suggested that they should not pursue but resume their journey. Idah was in charge of the group's safety in general.
"I will be ready for the kid anytime he shows up. We must not be lax even though the kid appears to be extremely weak, he might have some tricks up his sleeves.
This is definitely not the time to slack off I tell you." Idah said out loud in an effort to make the guard to be on high alert.
The group that had been moving for hours along the cleared road path suddenly stopped.
In front of them was what they would have never imagined in their lives.
In front of them was Ottis. It was the Ottis that they witnessed being swallowed whole by a black smoke.
"Is this some sort of illusion that is making us see the dead." Idah said, as he moved forward a little to make sure that he was not hallucinating.
"It is your loyal servant." Ottis said, as he bowed his head in respect in a unique way.
Taz eyes widened when he saw Ottis bow to Idah. The way he bowed to Idah was not something that was public to the group. It was only known between the leaders and Ottis.
"Ottis my loyal slave. Is that you? Why do you look different? What happened, we thought you died.
No, we clearly saw you die, so why don't you explain to me what is going on." Idah said, getting down from his mount and moving towards Ottis to get a better look at what he was seeing.
"Yes, when I was swallowed by the smoke. I immediately knew that something was wrong. I was supposed to be dead, but I was not.
I continued to remain in the land of the living. It was confusing at first, but I decided to ignore my confusion and meet up with the team. So I used a shortcut to catch up with the group." Ottis said, in a convincing manner.
Any layman that knew Ottis would believe his story just from the mere way that he delivered the story.
But unfortunately, Idah saw through everything.
At a close distance from Ottis, Idah Immediately swung his sword with a terrifying speed. SWOOSH
Sharp wind blade immediately flew out from Idah's very blade and went for the head of Ottis. In a single motion, Ottis bent his back hurriedly and evaded the attack.
"Damn, that was worth a try." Tim cursed out with a hushed sound.
He had summoned Ottis and tried to use him to take out one of the leaders of the gang by surprise but his surprise attack was a bust.
His plan was to initially use Ottis skills and spells to attack, but it turned out that how could not use Death Embrace on someone that was 12 levels higher than him.
It was a big bummer for Tim, but he had to move on. At the very least, he had a level 14 Summon that he could call on at any time.
His main goal now was to take out the two leaders. Thankfully his summons where not much of a brain dead summon.
They actually retained their intelligence and demeanor. Thanks to that he came up with a plan to catch at least one of the leaders off guard, but it seemed that his plan had failed thanks to the cautious leader.
"Idah what the hell do you think you are doing? Do you want to take out our best soldier." Taz who was surprised by Ottis's arrival was further shocked when he saw Idah attack Ottis.
Taking advantage of the mess and confusion that was going on. Tim two thorns on his hands, dashed with a terrifying speed towards Taz.
It was going to be the perfect sneak attack. He had run the numbers, once he takes out the strong leaders, the remaining gang members should be a walk in the park.
