Chapter 1 - Breakfast Before School

A bedroom was painted with an Ultramarine paint. On it's wall, a few picture frames were hanged as a decoration along with a coat hanger near the door. A large bed took out a corner of the room and next to it was a small table. Near the window, there was a long study desk and a book shelves besides it.

On the large bed, lay a young man in his teenage year, staring at the ceiling with no sign of getting up at all. He had a rather... peculiar dream.

Not a weird kind of dream like most teenagers constantly had every now and then.

But a peaceful dream.

However, no matter how hard he tried to recall it, his mind refused to. It was as if he never dreamt of it in the first place. But Olive knew that was not true.

He just felt it...

That was why Olive stared at the ceiling for quite a while. He didn't get off the bed until a man's voice was calling out his name out.

"Olly! Get down here and eat your breakfast!"

After sometime, he sighed and slowly rose, getting off his bed.

He didn't immediately exit his room and ate his breakfast first, but instead went to the bathroom — that was attached to his bedroom and went to the sink and looked at his reflection.

Olive has a long brunette hair as smooth as a silk, brushing his ears lightly. His eyes were shaped like an almond with a beautiful, long eyelashes alongside two brown pupils colored like a lovely dark honey. As for his face... it was gorgeous... his fair skin, straight nose and long eyelashes gave him more of a delicate look instead of a rugged one.

Very much so that he could probably rival a models.

If he wasn't so short!

What was the use of a heavenly face if he was short? Not that there was something wrong with being one. But a dead gorgeous face and a short height was not a good combination.

Why?

Because it made him look comical rather than stunning. That was why it was so easy for him to be ridiculed by others. Given that his face was overshadowed by his comical figure.

How tragic.

'Ah! I'm not short, I'm just... a late bloomer.'

At least that was what he convinced himself. The truth being, he himself wasn't sure about it.

Ignoring the incredulous thought, Olive then resumed his intention getting in the bathroom before.

...Usually he would style his brunette hair in a middle part in front of the mirror, with one side of the hair covering his brow and another side just on top of it. But he was not planning to comb it... at least not yet, so he washed his face with a lukewarm water instead.

Exiting the bathroom, Olive then took a quick glance at his bedroom.

He gazed at it, feeling reluctant to head out. With a sigh, Olive then exited the bedroom, hurriedly descend the stairs and went to the kitchen.

When he arrived at the kitchen, and immediately saw a man in his late-forties sitting on a chair, eating his breakfast on top of the kitchen counter, and a man in his twenties cooking a pancake on a stove.

The man in his late-forties was cladded in business suit and his raven black hair with a bit of greyish hair on the side was neatly tidied which made him looked sharped and austere. His face was calm with a few wrinkles here and there along with a goatee.

Everything about him scream of discipline and wealth.

Sensing someone was approaching, the old man looked up from his breakfast and saw Olive sat next to him.

He looked at Olive for a few second, then smiled and asked:

"What took you so long to get down here, son?"

It was his father, the old man in his late-forties was in fact, Olive's father. Well, not his biological father, but nevertheless he was aware of it and his father didn't even tried to hide the fact that he was not his biological son.

Maybe it's for the best. After all, if his father kept it a secret, there would be a lot of drama when he eventually find out the truth — and even Olive wouldn't want that... how frustrating would that be?

The same story goes for his older brother, Eddie, who was currently cooking a delicious breakfast for him.

Hearing his father question, Olive turn to his father and answered;

"Oh, nothing. I just washed my face first."

His father didn't said anything but just looked at him with a faint smile.

A moment later, a plate of delicious pancakes, topped with maple syrup and fruits was served in front of him. Without thinking much, Olive took the utensil and ate it.

'Ah, what a delicacy.'

And indeed it was. The pancake's outside was crusty but the inside were soft. The maple syrup that was poured on it, gave the pancake an even sweeter flavor along with the fruits on top of it... And did he tasted?

Cinnamon?

Apparently, Eddie tried something new by putting a bit of cinnamon on the pancakes.

'Not bad.'

Currently, Olly was savoring the delicious pancakes — which was enough to made his thought wander off. So that was why he didn't noticed that someone was glaring at him...

Eddie looked at Olly for a few seconds, and noticing that he didn't sense his gaze he cleared his throat.

Hearing that, Olive looked up and saw Eddie who had just served him breakfast, was looking at him with a rather smug face.

Eddie appeared to be in his early-twenties and wore a butler suit. He has an auburn hair with a bang that covered most of his forehead. He also has a beautiful captivating emerald color eyes that seem to glow under the dim sunlight.

His handsome face, with a straight nose, sharp jawline and thick eyebrows made him rather captivating along with his lean physique and an average height.

...Both of them looked at each other for a while. After a few second Olive finally grew impatience and ask.

"What?"

Eddie, still looking at Olive, scowled and answered with a dissatisfied tone.

"Don't you have something to say? About, you know, the food?"

Olive blinked.

'Oh, so that what he's upset about.'

He shook his head feeling a bit annoyed, and answered with indifference.

"Nope, nothing whatsoever. Why?"

Eddie looked at Olive for another few second. Clearly dissatisfied by his answer. He was obviously waiting for a praise, but Olive was not giving it nor was he planning to.

Eddie, realizing that his patience was futile, sighed.

"Oh, forget about it."

Hearing that, Olive continued to focus on his food.

'Sorry, but I'm in no mood to hear all your gloating, you cocky bastard!'

The delicious pancakes deserved all the praise, true. But if Olive had praised Eddie's pancakes, that bastard older brother of him would gloat about to no end. And Olive was in no mood for that.

'I'm sick of it!'

His father, hearing the conversation between his two sons, chuckled.

"Just eat your breakfast, you're going to be late for school. Oh, and I'll be coming home late, so you two have dinner without me. And Oliver, don't forget to help your brother clean the storage, I gave the maids the day off, so you must help Eddie."

"Uh-huh got it."

***

After eating breakfast, Olly went up to his room and took a shower. Meanwhile their father — Jeffrey Lockson —already went to work.

In the kitchen, Eddie was washing the dirty plate and the utensil.

'I just cooked him a rather delicious breakfast, couldn't he at least praise it?'

To be honest, Eddie was still salty about Olly's lack of answer. But he just shook his head deciding that it was not worth thinking about it.

After finishing the dishes, Eddie wiped his hand and went to the living room, waiting for Olly... Every morning, after breakfast, Eddie would wait for Olly in the living room to send him off to school. And since he work as a butler for his father, it was his job to drive him to school.

Jeffrey Lockson had adopted Eddie for a long time since he was five years old, unlike Olly and Esther — twins, who had both been adopted as a baby with an unknown parents.

After adopting Eddie and the twins, his father took care of them, fed them, spoiled them and put a roof under their head. Eddie had always been grateful and want to repay the gratitude, so when he asked his father on how he should repay him, he suggested that Eddie should work as their butler.

To be honest, Eddie had always thought that he can do more than be a butler. But since that was his father's wish, he didn't object it.

Eddie entered the spacious living room and studied the interior.

They lived in a penthouse on a skyscraper called Lockon's Tech where their father work.

Eddie always wondered why did their father, chose to lived in a penthouse located on the building of Lockson's Tech instead of cozy house next to a beach or a nice bungalow on the ground. And his father's respond was;

"Because I find it time consuming to go to work if we live far from the building."

A pretty straightforward answer, but also made sense somehow.

The penthouse they lived in was vast and luxurious, like a manor stuff inside a building. Inside, the interior was spacious, with a large living room along with a massive window that took one side of the room's wall, revealing the thriving city outside. There were also the kitchen, dining room, a toilet and hallway with a storage that was attached at the end of it.

On the second floor, there was the master bedroom, the guest bedroom, Olly's bedroom, Eddie's bedroom, the library and another spare of bedroom that used to belong to Esther — who was currently studying in a another state in a prestigious school.

After half an hour, Eddie finally heard Olly exited his bedroom. He turned his head and saw Olly — who was wearing a grey hoodie, a pair of jeans and a black backpack on his back — currently descending the stairs.

After Olly arrived few steps in front of Eddie, he asked to make sure his brother didn't forget anything.

"You ready?"

"Yeah."

Olly murmured.

"Good, then let's go, you're going to be late for school."

With that, both of them went to the vast hall of the penthouse, where the elevator is located and headed to the parking lot.

It was time for Olly to go to school.

To head for the parking lot, they would have to take an elevator and stop a couple of floors. They can't just head. for the ground floor since the elevator to the penthouse needed to be separate so that people can't accessed it whether by hijacking or accidentally.

Currently they still have a long way to go down.

Eddie doesn't have anything to do to pass the time, so he wished to talk to Olly. But he noticed that Olly was in no mood to talk, so he kept quiet.

On some occasion, Eddie wished he could hear his brother's thought. And if Eddie could hear it right now he would've heard Olly said:

'God, can't I just not go to school for one day?'
