Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: One Word—Perfect

[Su Xiaoqi: @Zhu Zhuqing, how was my performance? Look at the expressions on their faces—especially Dai Mubai. His face is turning green! I almost couldn't hold in my laughter.]

[Zhu Zhuqing: How can you be so bad? But… thank you for standing up for me.]

[Su Xiaoqi: Oh, come on. That was just a warm-up. If I stay here long enough, I swear I'll tear Shrek Academy down piece by piece.]

[Lu Linglong: You two seem to be having so much fun. I'm honestly a bit jealous.]

[Sakata Gintoki: Ginsan doesn't care about any of that. I just want to know—what does Zhuqing look like in real life?]

[Su Xiaoqi: One word—perfect.]

[Sakata Gintoki: How perfect?]

[Su Xiaoqi: "Kuro Zetsu" perfect.]

[Sakata Gintoki: ??? Masaka... you've seriously fallen for her, haven't you?]

[Su Xiaoqi: Of course it's you who caught the reference, Gin-san.]

[Lu Linglong: What the heck are you two talking about in code now?]

[Su Xiaoqi: Nothing really. Oh right, anyone want some of Douluo Continent's local specialty sausages? Super delicious, really fragrant—Zhuqing just wolfed down several.]

[Zhu Zhuqing: …]

[Sakuragi Hanamichi: Brother Su, I want one!]

[Lu Linglong: Count me in. I'd love to taste some food from another world.]

[Su Xiaoqi: Sakuragi, there you are! But why are you calling me "Brother"?]

[Sakuragi Hanamichi: Youhei said you're really strong and told me to build a good relationship with you. Plus, you're older than me anyway.]

[Su Xiaoqi: You're really honest, huh? By the way, have you entered Shohoku High yet?]

[Sakuragi Hanamichi: I just graduated middle school. Brother Su, can you teach me how to chase girls?]

[Su Xiaoqi: That's it? Easy stuff. But I'm a bit busy right now. Just remember, if you want to chase girls—first learn to play basketball, and go get a buzzcut.]

[Sakuragi Hanamichi: Got it, I will!]

[Su Xiaoqi: Alright, time's about up. I've sent the sausages in red envelopes—one for each of you, everyone gets one. Catch up later.]

Zhu Zhuqing watched Su Xiaoqi sneakily send sausages to the group like a thief and whispered, "Let's see how you explain things once they find out where those sausages came from."

Su Xiaoqi grinned. "It's fine. Who knows, they might actually love them. Anyway, we've been out 'going to the bathroom' long enough. Let's head back and see what's happening."

Zhu Zhuqing, out of habit, wrapped her arm around Su Xiaoqi's and said, "You're so good at chasing girls, yet you say you've never had a girlfriend. Liar."

Su Xiaoqi chuckled bitterly. "I only know the theory. And after watching the story unfold, chasing someone becomes much easier. The advantage I have is just too big."

Zhu Zhuqing huffed coldly. "Don't believe you. You're full of bad ideas."

When the two of them returned to the previous location, Ning Rongrong quickly ran up and said, "Su Xiaoqi, I've made up my mind. I don't want to study here. This place is too scary."

Su Xiaoqi looked ahead at Tang San and Xiao Wu. Xiao Wu was still trying to convince Tang San to leave, while Tang San stood silently, deep in thought.

As for Dai Mubai, that idiot was standing off to the side, arms crossed. From his expression, it was obvious he was in a terrible mood.

Now Su Xiaoqi faced two choices: one, leave Shrek Academy with Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong; two, stay and continue stirring things up according to the original plotline.

Both would earn him points, but after some careful thought, Su Xiaoqi chose the latter.

Points weren't the main concern. What he and Zhu Zhuqing needed most right now was time. Once they grew stronger, they could act however they pleased. Until then, following the original story was the safer option—and it would also allow him to sabotage their future opportunities.

"Ning Rongrong, I talked with Zhuqing just now. She said she doesn't want to give up halfway. It might be dangerous, but she doesn't want to quit."

"I thought about it and realized she's right. Even though the graduation rate here is low, who says we can't be among the ones who make it?"

"And besides, everything I said earlier was just my own speculation. What if your senior misremembered the numbers?"

"You're just a young girl running around outside all alone—it's dangerous. Why not go check out the last exam first? What do you say?"

Ning Rongrong lowered her head, deep in thought. At that moment, Tang San stepped forward and looked at Su Xiaoqi with a smile. "My friend, I think you make a lot of sense. I've decided to stay and see how things go."

"Brother!"

Xiao Wu panicked upon hearing this. But before she could say more, Tang San gently patted her head and smiled. "Xiao Wu, if I can't even show a little courage, I'll never accomplish anything in life."

"Don't worry. No matter what danger we face, I'll protect you. If anyone wants to hurt you, they'll have to get through me first."

Xiao Wu threw herself into Tang San's arms. "Brother, you're the best. Since you're staying, I'll stay with you."

Su Xiaoqi watched the scene unfold, feeling a wave of goosebumps. Seriously, Tang San, you're a 40-year-old man across two lifetimes. How do you shamelessly sweet-talk a young girl like that?

Then again, if he really thought about it, Xiao Wu—being a rabbit spirit beast—was technically way older than Tang San.

Noticing Dai Mubai looking their way, Su Xiaoqi turned and said to Zhu Zhuqing, "Zhuqing, will you always protect me too? You know I can't survive without you."

Zhu Zhuqing's face darkened. If anything, it's you who's more likely to protect me, Mr. Saiyan. She gave him a small pinch, then replied softly, "I will—unless I die."

Su Xiaoqi mimicked Xiao Wu's tone. "Zhuqing, you're so good to me. Wherever you go, I'll follow."

"What a loser," Dai Mubai cursed silently. Zhu Zhuqing, I'll get you back eventually—and I'll do it right in front of Su Xiaoqi.

Just then, Ning Rongrong looked up. "Su Xiaoqi, I'll listen to you. I'll stay for now and see how it goes."

Dai Mubai said, "Since you've all made your decisions, follow me."

Under Dai Mubai's lead, the group arrived at an open clearing. Sitting in a chair was a middle-aged man who appeared to be dozing off.

Both Su Xiaoqi and Zhu Zhuqing recognized him as Zhao Wuji, one of Shrek Academy's teachers.

Unlike in the original story, Dai Mubai didn't immediately call out to him. Instead, he walked over and gently nudged him awake, then whispered something in his ear.

At first, Zhao Wuji's face lit up with excitement, but it quickly turned grim. Once Dai Mubai finished speaking, Zhao Wuji stood up from his chair.

"I'm your final exam instructor. My name is Zhao Wuji. My spirit power level is 76. My Martial Soul—Vigorous Vajra Bear."

"If you can pass this test, you'll be admitted to Shrek Academy. You'll be given one stick of incense worth of time."

Zhao Wuji extended a hand, pointing to Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong. "After the incense burns, the three of you will team up and try to withstand my attacks for half an incense's time. If even one of you makes it to the end, you'll all pass."

"As for the other two—your exam is to endure one incense of time under Mubai's attacks. If you survive or defeat him, you pass."
