Chapter 106: Wind Chime Grass A Completely Uncoordinated Master and Disciple

"Not bad. In terms of strength and defense alone, you already have an advantage of at least ten levels compared to spirit masters with ordinary martial souls. However, during your third strike, if you had been just a bit faster, you could have dodged the counterattack. You'll need more practice on that."

Guang Ling nodded in approval, but he also pointed out the flaw in Xiu'er's battle performance.

"Understood, Master." Xiu'er's face turned serious again.

"Alright, someone come and heal them both." Guang Ling called out, and two soul masters immediately stepped forward one a food type spirit master, the other a healing type. After checking Xiu'er's injuries, they also gave her some guidance on what to watch for during her medicinal bath that evening.

"Now do you understand why we weren't worried about Xiu'er jie's endurance?"

Han Li turned to Dugu Yan, who was still looking a little dazed.

"Yeah… Xiu'er jie no, Xiu'er has always trained like this?"

Dugu Yan looked at Xiu'er, who was now sitting sweetly and smiling softly as she received treatment. Her expression was complicated.

"Yeah, there's no helping it. That's just how her martial soul is. We can't afford to hold back just because it seems tough. But once she gets even stronger, she'll likely reach a point where spirit masters of the same rank or even one rank higher won't be able to break her defenses. Compared to before, she's already taking way less damage."

Han Li's voice unconsciously softened as he spoke, and he waved toward Xiu'er, who was looking their way.

"In that case, I'll train the same way. My grandfather can pay for it."

Dugu Yan clenched her teeth as she declared her decision. Then, realizing what she had just said, she blushed and added shyly, "I mean… if that's okay…"

Han Li was momentarily stunned before laughing helplessly.

"You focus on long range attacks why are you trying to train like Xiu'er? Your training should be similar to mine. But don't worry, after today, Master and the training team will evaluate your abilities and tailor your regimen accordingly."

"Mm, I also need to train for aerial combat. You should, too. We can do it together. But forget about the money your grandfather and you are already following me. This is nothing for me to cover. Don't feel bad about it. After all, I need people, not money."

He winked at Dugu Yan playfully as he spoke, making his meaning clear.

"No way. Our family has three people you can't be the one paying for everything. My grandpa only has me as his granddaughter. If he doesn't spend money on me, who else is he going to spend it on? I'll write him a letter about it later."

Dugu Yan was stubborn, but when it came to making her grandfather pay, she had no reservations.

Seeing that she wouldn't budge, Han Li gave up on arguing. Fine, he'd just send Old Poison a card along with the carriage delivery.

After all, when they first met, the old man had nearly given up his entire fortune for her future. Han Li had looked into it most of Dugu Yan's family wealth was in fixed assets. Cash flow wasn't exactly abundant.

It would be a waste to let him sell off properties in Heaven Dou City, one of the three most prosperous cities on the continent. That wouldn't be a good deal.

Once the healing was complete, the five of them moved toward the guest hall.

The two girls lagged behind, whispering to each other.

Han Li, on the other hand, turned his attention to Qing Luan. It had been a while since he had seen his senior uncle. At the offering hall the other day, they had only exchanged brief greetings.

"Senior Uncle, you haven't taken the Earth Dragon Gold Gourd yet, right?"

"No. Your Lion Senior Uncle tested it, and the results were good, but as your master said, it doesn't have much effect on us. However, it should work well for your Crocodile Senior Uncle since it aligns with his cultivation path. Hopefully, it will help him break through."

"Why? Are you having second thoughts, or do you actually need the Earth Dragon Gold Gourd for yourself? If that's the case, just take it I don't need it."

Qing Luan spoke calmly and even pulled out the gourd, handing it back to Han Li.

"Senior Uncle, you misunderstand me. I would never take back a gift. Keep it. I don't need it. But here this is for you. I set this aside specifically for you. It's not quite an immortal herb, but it's close. And it matches your attributes perfectly."

Han Li smiled wryly as he pushed the gourd back toward Qing Luan. Then, he took out a flower with a bell shaped crown white at the base, fading into a soft purple at the edges.

"Senior Uncle, this is Wind Chime Grass. It carries a wind attribute and naturally produces soundwave and spiritual attacks. Like this "

He tapped the petals lightly with soul power, causing a gentle ringing sound to echo. Faint ripples spread through the air before dissipating.

"It's perfect for you. Take your time studying it there's no rush to consume it. I've treated it in a way that will preserve its vitality and potency for a month and a half. Once you've finished your research, just wash it and eat it whole. But be careful do not chew it."

Han Li pointed to the roots wrapped in Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well soil and explained the consumption method in detail before finally stopping.

"Alright, then I won't stand on ceremony."

Qing Luan accepted it without hesitation, storing it away in his spatial item. Unlike Guang Ling, his storage tool wasn't large, which was why he hadn't asked Han Li for any plants before.

Han Li didn't say much else. Though he called Qing Luan "Senior Uncle," their relationship wasn't much different from that of master and disciple.

Later, he planned to go through Chrysanthemum Douluo's botanical records to prepare additional herbs for his senior uncle. Even if Qing Luan couldn't break through in one go, Han Li could at least push him to rank 97 through sheer resource investment.

Guang Ling, watching from the side, smiled. Seeing his two closest friends getting along so well made him happy.

"When you go into seclusion later, let me know. I have a surprise for you once you come out."

Guang Ling suddenly remembered something and turned to Qing Luan.

"A surprise? What kind of surprise?"

Qing Luan was intrigued.

"Ah, don't ask. If I tell you now, it won't be a surprise anymore. Let's just say I found something interesting for you. Trust me you won't refuse this time."

Guang Ling put on a mysterious expression and shot Han Li a meaningful look.

Han Li was completely lost.

What was his master even talking about? Why was he getting dragged into this?

Still, seeing Guang Ling's insistent eye signals, Han Li simply nodded.

Fine. He'd ask his master about it later.

Hopefully, it wouldn't be some big, dramatic scheme. If necessary, he'd report it to Grandmaster Elder before things got out of hand!

Qing Luan glanced at the completely uncoordinated master and disciple duo and chuckled. But he didn't ask any further.
