The sounds of sirens blared loudly, shards of broken glass were scattered across the roads of what was once a busy downtown district. Buildings were damaged to the point where you could see their frames, everything drowned by the heavy rainfall.
Screams echoed loudly, hordes of people ran for their lives, the sounds of a blood curdling screech cancelling out the terrified screams of civilians. Police cars surrounded a monstrously tall creature, it's mist like body resembling shadows. Officers surrounded the creature, setting up barricades to keep the creature in one place.
"Call in a SWAT team! We need as much backup as we can!" screamed the leading officer into the transceiver. "It's a damn Shade!" He continued. After cutting off the receiver, he shouted at the other police officers, "Open fire now! Empty every goddamned magazine you have!" Not a second passed, the sounds of gunfire echoed, gunpowder smoke filled the streets as bullets rained upon the Shade. The relentless assault of bullets blew multiple holes into creature's body.
The officers ceased their fire, gazing at the Shade's bullet filled shell, the officer began to celebrate, thinking they had killed the beast. The leading officer shouting once more, his tone now of fear rather than a voice of command, "S-Shit! It's regenerating, the d-damn thing is regenerating." The other officers looked up, their expressions shifting from those of celebration to horror, the Shade reforming into what it was. As soon as it regenerated, it let out a monstrous, no, a furious roar, it's hands forming blade at the finger tips, swinging it across the barricade, killing several officers in the process. The leading officer, now mortally wounding from the sweep, made a last resort call, his voice fleeting now, struggling to speak his thoughts into the phone, "Shade.... South District....Arcaea City....Downtown." With that he fell lifeless to the road. His phone, showing the name of who or what he called, I.R.I.S.
The Shade began a rampage destroying everything and anything within its sights. It then stopped, refocusing on the escaping civilians, rushing at them with subsonic speeds, lunging at a teenage boy, preparing to devour him. Suddenly, the Shade is launched back with considerable force, the boy looked up, seeing only the silhouette of a teenage girl, his age, with medium length white hair, holding what seemed to be a naginata, she looked behind her, making direct eye contact with the boy, "Are you alright?" She asked, her voice calm and collected. "Y-Yeah, I'm alright." The boy answered, still a bit shaken from his near death experience. "Go." She told him calmly, "I'll handle everything from here." Without saying much else she rushed towards the Shade at superhuman speeds, leaving the boy a bit awestruck.
He stood up, unable to look away, both from fear as well as a bit of fascination, watching as the girl and the Shade battled. In the fight the girl did as much as she could, maneuvering to dodge the Shade's relentless attacks. Using her naginata, she cut across its middle section, managing to sever both of the arms. She then touches the creatures chest, a blast of fire erupting from her palm as she burnt the Shade in two. Its halves fell to the ground, seemingly lifeless. The boy watched, amazed at the display of power. The girl landed safely back on the ground and with a quick flick of her wrist, the naginata reconstructed into a simple glove. She put her right hand to her ear to put on a communication device, in her calm voice, she said, "Shade neutralized, Send in the clean up department." She then shut off the intercom before beginning to walk away from the Shade's body.
She noticed the boy still standing there, which caused her expression to change from stoic to annoyance, in one swift move, she almost instantly appeared right before him, startling him slightly, "Why are you still here?" She asked, an irritated tone and expression evident. "I told you to run away." She sighed, trying to calm herself down, "What's your name? At least tell me that if you're not gonna explain why you're still here." She inquired. "Kaneshiro Ryu." He answered, his voice a bit shaky. "Hirose Tsuki." She said. "Now, Ryu. We now both know each other's name. Now answer me. Why are you still here? I told you to go." She grabbed the collar of his black t-shirt, her amber eyes appeared to stair right into heterochromatic blue and green eyes. "Tell me."
He stared at her, his expression changing from one of curiosity to a cold demeanor, "I-" Ryu was cut off by Tsuki gasping, only moments before blood began to drip from the corners of her mouth, they both looked down, a blade like appendage piercing through the side of her torso, blood gushing from the wound. Ryu looked behind her, his face a mix of shock and horror, only to see the Shade which they both thought Tsuki had killed, standing there, arm piercing right through her. The Shade flung Tsuki into a nearby building, breaking several of her bones, leaving her unable to move. Ryu looked shocked, he looked up, now seeing the Shades attention focused on him, it salivated at the mouth, the sight setting off something in Ryu. The swung a punch in both an act of bravery and of desperation, the Shade caught it, only to break his arm resulting in a cry echoing from Ryu. The shade kicks him in the stomach, causing Ryu to cough up blood as he was sent flying back.
The shade's onslaught did not end there, it leapt into the air grabbing Ryu, only kick him down into the road, the impact causing a small crater to form in the road. Ryu crawled out of the rubble, his body covered in bruises, his clothing a bit tatter, blood trickling from his head. He could barely move, the Shade closing in on him, preparing to deal the finishing blow. "Shit..." He coughed up more blood, his eyes growing heavier. He looked around, desperate for anything to save him. His eyes eventually locked on to electrical wires, still connected to a post. Thinking briefly before coming up with a plan, "If this doesn't work, I'm screwed." He thought to himself before barely managing to stand up, limping towards the wires.
The creature began to chase after him, only to hit with a ball of fire from behind, lying there was Tsuki, her arm shaking, as she struggled to lift it, her expression was pained, passing out right there. Eventually Ryu managed to get to the wires, a spark of electricity circled his palmed as he touched it. He remained unharmed, the current from the wires not affecting him. He locked onto the creature and with the remainder of his strength, he threw the wires at the Shade, only for it to catch the wires without even taking a glance at Ryu. However, he stayed determined, Ryu gripped the wires tightly, as large surges of electricity surged through the wires, causing the shades to erupt in a flashing yellow light as it slowly withered to nothingness. Ryu strained as he kept up the high voltage onslaught of electricity as the Shade screeched in agony, Ryu's hands bled as they were burnt severely by the heat produced by his desperate attack. He couldn't take it any more, the electrocution of the Shade stopped. Ryu's hands were charred, blood continued to drip from his body, He fell to his knees, his eyes shook, he looked at the husk of the Shade, watching as it withered away. "It's over..." Ryu thought to himself, "It's finally over.." He muttered to himself. He began coughing intensely, blood spurting out each cough. "Fuck." He whispered to himself, his throat hoarse from the frequent coughs as he collapsed to the floor, passing out from the blood loss and exhaustion.
Minutes passed until the clean up department came rushing in, they surveyed the area, checking to see if the Shade still persisted. They eventually encountered the unconscious bodies of Tsuki and Ryu, their actions turned urgent as they quickly pulled the two into the back of the vans, reporting back to HQ as quickly as they could, "Emergency, Rank 3 Soldier Hirose Tsuki and a civilian have been found, their vitals are weak and they need immediate medical attention, transporting to the medical wing of Head Quarters." said one of the crewmen, as they locked the van doors and drove off at high speeds rushing to save the lives of Tsuki and Ryu.
