Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Friends, Let's Walk Together for Life

Chapter 117: Friends, Let's Walk Together for Life

A day later, Lynn came to Vivaldi Bank again.

Vimme was not there.

He had been invited by a foreign noble who had settled in Novigrad to the noble's house to appraise some antiques.

A human bank clerk led him to the VIP room.

He also told him that Vimme had found the people he needed and had arranged for them to wait in the VIP room.

So Lynn pushed open the door of the VIP room and walked in.

However, to his surprise, he recognized half of the people Vimme had found.

The dwarven squad that had been part of Istrade's caravan guards was sitting around the table in the VIP room, playing Gwent.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, everyone except the two players who were still engrossed in their Gwent game turned their heads to look.

The leading dwarf's face was a mixture of surprise and joy.

"Lynn?"

And the surprise on Lynn's face was no less than his.

"Yarpen Zigrin? What are you doing here!"

Yarpen laughed heartily and stepped forward to give Lynn a strong hug.

Yarpen's dwarven brothers also recognized Lynn and gathered around him.

"Master Vimme introduced us. He said there was a kind-hearted employer who needed some people to help repair a castle. It just so happens that my brothers and I used to do this kind of work in Mahakam."

Yarpen turned sideways, glanced behind Lynn, and then his gaze returned to him. "So, does that mean you are the employer?"

Lynn nodded.

"I also didn't expect that the professional craftsmen Master Vimme introduced to me would be you guys."

Yarpen crossed his arms and laughed loudly.

"Ha! Dwarves never boast! Since we're here, it naturally means we are the right people for this job, no one else."

"Lucas Corto is the son of a stonemason, Yannick Brass is the son of a carpenter, and Xavier Moran's father is a bricklayer."

"As for the brothers Paulie Dahlberg and Regan Dahlberg, and myself, although we are all descendants of warriors, dwarves are born to do this kind of work. What humans can do, dwarves can only do better."

"How about this? For the sake of our past battles together, I guarantee you here that if we don't do a good job, we won't take any money, how about that?"

Since Yarpen had put it this way, Lynn dispelled the doubts in his heart.

"Alright, deal."

"Haha, that's more like it."

Lynn shook hands with Yarpen and his dwarven brothers one by one.

Then he turned to the other group of dwarves.

"Hello, employer. I am Zoltan Chivay, and these are my brothers."

"Munro Bruys, Figgis Merluzzo, Yasson Varda, Caleb Stratton, and Percival Schuttenbach."

Percival Schuttenbach was not a dwarf.

Beneath his soaked hood, instead of a tangled beard, there was a sharp, long nose.

Undoubtedly, the owner of this rather distinctive nose was a true native of this continent, a gnome.

After Zoltan finished the introductions, Lynn nodded. "Welcome to you and your companions as well, Master Chivay."

The witcher's words made the dwarves laugh heartily.

Of course, it was good-natured laughter.

"Ha, too formal! Just call me by my name, just like you call Yarpen. We dwarves are different from elves, we don't have so many formalities and roundabout ways."

"Then, you can just call me Lynn."

After some small talk, Lynn finally understood why Yarpen and the others were here.

It turned out that after the previous escort mission, Istrade had also extended an olive branch to Yarpen.

But after discussing with the other dwarves, Yarpen unanimously decided that it would be better to find another job.

So, they rejected Istrade's offer and left with a large bag of gold that Istrade had paid them.

The reason they came to Novigrad was that they believed they could find decent work in this city of desires.

Moreover, generally speaking, in large cities with frequent population flow, discrimination against minority groups would be much better than in underdeveloped and backward places.

So, they came to Novigrad.

No dwarf who came out of Mahakam didn't know Vimme Vivaldi.

After happily drinking for a few days in a Novigrad tavern, Yarpen and the others found Vimme, hoping the latter could introduce them to a job.

And it just so happened that Vimme had also been entrusted by Lynn to help find some stonemasons, carpenters, and bricklayers.

So, Yarpen and his group were brought over by Vimme.

As for Zoltan and his group, their situation was similar to Yarpen's. Because they couldn't stand being controlled by Elder Brouver in Mahakam, they hadn't returned since leaving Mahakam.

They weren't craftsmen, but as Yarpen said, dwarves were more talented than humans in this kind of work.

So they came along as well.

After chatting for a while, Yarpen rubbed his hands together, and his eyes sparkled with anticipation.

"So, Lynn, can you tell us about the details of this job now? Where do we need to work?"

The witcher nodded. "I don't know if you have any impression of the name Kaer Morhen?"

The dwarves exchanged glances.

"Kaer Morhen?"

Yarpen frowned in thought.

"Isn't that the headquarters of you Wolf School witchers?"

Lynn had only said it casually, but he didn't expect Yarpen to have actually heard of it. "You know it?"

Yarpen shouted with his loud voice.

"More than that! I'm not one of those youngsters in their twenties. Although I've never been to Kaer Morhen, I clearly remember that there used to be many more witchers bearing the wolf head medallion than there are now."

Then, his voice lowered.

"Later I heard that there was a terrible massacre at Kaer Morhen. Those mobs, like they were slaughtering non-humans, almost killed all the witchers in that castle."

"After that, the number of witchers became fewer and fewer."

"So, Lynn, do you want us to repair the castle of Kaer Morhen?"

Lynn smiled and asked.

"Yes, how about it? Can you do it?"

"Of course we can!"

Next, Yarpen, Zoltan, and the others discussed the detailed specifics of repairing the castle with Lynn.

Considering that Kaer Morhen was located deep in the Blue Mountains, the wood and stone needed for repairs could be sourced directly from the Blue Mountains.

And other necessary tools and supplies would be purchased directly in Novigrad.

Normally, they would have to rent at least several wagons to transport these tools and supplies to Kaer Morhen.

But Lynn had a magically enchanted pouch with the space of an entire villa inside, so it wouldn't be so troublesome.
