Lyra's POV
My legs ached terribly, my joints on fire, yet I sat up and folded them into each other. Pain radiated through the nerves in my back as I straightened my spine, sitting up straight, like a pencil.
I shut my eyes and shut my mind to every noise around me. I shifted my entire focus to the world inside of me, to the chaos and the pain, and carefully, I reached for Lisa.
I rummaged through the catalogue of memories in my mind, searching for Lisa. I had to reach deeper and deeper into my mind. But finally, I found her, and I stumbled into her consciousness.
I rolled on the floor, tumbling mildly on the hard concrete floor. Thankfully, the injuries Varin inflicted on me didn't follow me here, and I struggled to my feet.
