Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: The So-Called Fated One

"Fated One, huh," Hearing Sora mention this title, Rosse instinctively let out a sneer.

'Doing things recklessly and still being able to laugh and make it to the end, who else could it be but a Fated One?'

"An enemy?", Sora could feel Rosse's hostility toward the Fated One, her eyes showing a thoughtful look.

"The founding of the World Government was the result of overthrowing the previous Fated One," Rosse spoke leisurely, not at all hesitant to reveal the background of the Fated One.

Fated One, Joy Boy, Sun God, Nika.

These terms only held meaning for ancient relics from 800 years ago. In the current Celestial Dragons, very few still believed in them.

"I see," Sora's expression turned to realization, naturally associating it with the blank 100 years.

Due to the difference in educational exposure, even though both had the Brain-Brain Fruit abilities, Sora's way of thinking was completely different from Vegapunk's.

Vegapunk might evaluate things through the lens of freedom, good and evil, but Sora's thoughts leaned more toward analyzing the essence.

In her understanding, since the dynasty or power established by the previous Fated One disappeared in less than a hundred years, it indicated a problem within its core.

If it could be overthrown, that meant this so-called Fated One was merely a victor under the tide of history, not someone who truly emerged in response to fate.

"Then does the Kozuki Clan need special attention?", Sora asked softly.

Since the Fated One could be killed, and the World Government had already killed one before, then there was no need to pay excessive attention.

Moreover, no one knew when the next Fated One would appear.

"Kozuki Clan, Gion, do you know anything about this clan?", Rosse gave a light laugh, his gaze turning to Gion.

Gion had lived in Wano Country since childhood and was one of the few who yearned for the outside world, hence left Wano.

"The Kozuki has always been the ruling clan of Wano Country, served by the five great Daimyo clans: Amatsuki, Shimotsuki, Fugetsu, Uzuki, and Kurozumi. Wano is extremely closed off and remains in a sealed state to this day," Gion didn't know much about Wano either, only things her family had mentioned, which she now relayed.

"Isn't Kaido currently in Wano? He's an outsider, right?", Sora was a bit puzzled.

She had heard before about the conflict between King and Gion, and also knew Rosse was heading to Wano to find Kaido, but from what Gion said, Wano seemed to already be in an invaded state.

"The consequence of closed borders is often being forced open by guns and cannons. Kaido is one of those with weapons. If not for the people of Wano being stubborn and still longing for the Kozuki Clan's rule, he would've taken over long ago," Rosse said with a chuckle.

"With how strict the Kozuki Clan is, they might not even live to see the day the Fated One descends," Gion crossed her arms, her words sharp.

She was quite familiar with Wano but had little fondness for its system.

Especially the Kozuki Clan. According to her family, after hundreds of years of inheritance, their values had become distorted.

Compared to the Kozuki Clan, Rosse might actually count as a normal person.

"Speaking of Kaido, Lord Rosse, the person you were looking for has been found," Gion looked toward Rosse and said, "Gecko Moria, who was defeated by Kaido in Wano two years ago, lost his entire crew. He is now wandering the first half of the Grand Line."

"Get someone to contact him, tell him I'm inviting him to go to Wano again," Rosse said with a light laugh.

"He's probably already scared out of his mind by Kaido," Gion shook her head.

"Doesn't matter. As long as he still remembers the hatred for his crewmates, he'll definitely join me. If he still refuses, I don't mind taking his head," Rosse shrugged casually.

This version of Moria was far from the degenerate one twenty years later.

Even though Moria lost his entire crew, he himself still had strength.

Even if he couldn't reach S-rank combat power in the future, reaching the level of a Yonko commander or vice admiral was easily within reach.

There weren't many such strong individuals in the entire world, let alone the fact that Moria had just experienced failure, making it the perfect time to recruit him.

"Leave this to Spandine. Tell him he's less important than Moria. If he fails to recruit Moria, cut him down. If he succeeds, promote him to the Joint Chiefs of Staff," Rosse said calmly.

A task like this required someone capable.

After all, not everyone could pull off recruitment like this.

Among those he knew, Spandine was the most suitable.

With that mouth of his that could talk the dead back to life, so long as it was used properly, it would definitely be effective.

After all, in the pirate world, people like Spandine, with brains, slick tongues, and the ability to bend and adapt, were truly rare.

Rosse didn't mind having a few scumbags on the team. If Spandine tried anything, he had countless ways to deal with him.

"Got it," Gion's expression clearly showed her disgust toward Spandine, but she also understood that someone had to do these dirty and tiring tasks.

Moria was, after all, a great pirate who had once roamed the New World. Even if he had become open to recruitment after defeat, it wouldn't be easy to win him over.

"As for Wano, keep sending more people. Whether it's infiltrating the Beasts Pirates or disguising as Wano citizens, anything works."

As for Wano, Rosse decided to just keep sending people.

Kaido was in Wano and wouldn't run, so there was plenty of time to make a move.

If nothing unexpected happened, there would still be a year before Kaido made a move, plenty of time for Rosse to reach Wano slowly.

In the future when he entered Wano, both Kaido and the Kozuki Clan would be his enemies. He planned to reap the spoils from the sidelines.

That was also why he wasn't in a rush. If he went too early, he'd likely be surrounded and attacked.

Right now, Kaido wasn't at his peak, but at least had S- level strength. Kozuki Oden was about the same, slightly weaker than Kaido, but still far beyond A-rank.

Two S-rank powers. With Rosse's cautious nature, he had to prepare thoroughly.

"One more thing," Gion hesitated, then reported, "News came in today that the Red Count appeared on the Grand Line and killed someone on Drum Island. His current whereabouts are unknown."

The Red Count was a powerful figure rivaling legends like Whitebeard and Golden Lion. According to Rosse's ranking system, he was at least an S-rank power.

"Appeared on Drum Island?", Rosse frowned slightly, sensing something was off.

When his gaze swept over to Gion, a thoughtful expression appeared on his face.

"What is it?", Noticing Rosse's look, Sora asked softly.

Being stared at like that, Gion also felt uneasy, returning a confused look to Rosse.

"According to the World Government's intelligence network, due to being alone, the Red Count's body has entered a decline. Right now, he desperately needs a fruit that can maintain his peak," Rosse said.
