I couldn't understand anything. How did we come back to the room we just exited?
And I was sure that we didn't walk in circles because the curve we saw was only enough to hide the door from us. It was a slight one.
"Enter the room," the man said as he opened his hand, demanding that I give him the gun.
Not having any other options, I handed the gun and slowly entered the room.
The man I shot was not here, but his blood was still on the floor and the wall. They probably just removed his body.
Luke and the man entered the room following me, and he closed the door.
I silently went next to the chair I was sitting in before and waited for Luke.
As he arrived at his chair, the man also came closer to the table and handed me the revolver.
"Sit down and continue the game," he said.
"Okay, but take the extra bullets out first," I said after sitting down.
Luke also sat down and looked at the table silently. He had already given up on life. You could understand it from his facial expression. Like a man who lost everything, he was waiting.
The man put the gun on the table.
"I will not take any bullets out. Please, continue the game."
"You have to, I put the other 4 bullets in the cylinder. The game requires us to use 2 bullets because of the number we chose," I said.
"Then let me remind you of the rules of the game," he said.
He moved to his left, showing the wall behind him where the rules were stated. The text hasn't changed, and the rules were still there
"As you can see, the rules mention that, before you shoot your friend, you have to spin the cylinder for the fairness of the game. It never mentions that you have to check and only have the chosen number of bullets inside it. Since you, yourself, modified the bullet count, we will not do any modifications and will continue as it is. Please, spin the cylinder and shoot," he said.
"If you refuse to shoot, I will do it in your stead, but with a fully loaded gun, unlike last time," he added as he reached for his gun and pulled it out.
Then lifted his arm, pointing the weapon toward the ceiling, and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The sound startled me.
"You can't! We have to play with 2 bullets. Right?" I started to panic.
I was about to fall into the hole I dug for them.
Luke was not reacting. Not in any way. I was not moving or talking.
"Luke, say something. That was the rule, right?"
I didn't know what to do.
"Hey, say something. Wall man, you. Psycho! I am talking to you. That was what we agreed on, right? 2 bullets, right?" I was trying to convince him to lower the number.
"Does it even matter?"
"Huh?"
I looked at Luke as I heard him speak.
"Does it even matter how many bullets there are?"
"Of course it does. We cho-"
"You said it yourself, but you don't understand it now. We are done, Daniel. We are done," he said, slowly lifting his head.
"The one who dies here is the winner. Because if game 3 is like this, I don't even wanna know about other games."
"If I die here, at least I won't have to suffer more," he continued without changing his tone.
I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to react. Deep down, I knew he was right. I knew that the moment I entered this game, my fate was sealed. But…
What if I could escape? What if I could survive this?
"Is there really no other way?" I whispered as I looked at the wall.
A new text had appeared. A text that I wish I hadn't read.
"I thought you were the smart one, Daniel. You disappoint me. Dying here would be the best option, considering that suffering will end with it.
But also remember this. We have a deal. If you find who I am, you will be free."
As I finished reading, new text appeared under that with writing noise.
"From what it looks like, you are not going to shoot. So the man standing next to you will shoot.
And yes, I knew you would try to escape. Sorry, but it is impossible."
After I read the text, I didn't know how to react. I felt everything and nothing at the same time. I didn't even move my gaze away from the wall until I heard that noise.
Bang!
