Chapter 85 - CHAPTER 93

Of course, unifying the entire wizarding world isn't an easy task — it requires careful, slow planning.

The first thing he had to do was make a name for himself in the wizarding world — for example, by sending a dark wizard wanted by Ministries of Magic across the world straight to prison.

"Are there any Aurors here? I've captured a dark wizard!"

Carl carried the unconscious Old Manu and walked toward the Ministry of Magic's reception desk, calling out in a clear voice.

The moment the owner of the Diagon Alley herbal shop, Tom Foley, turned up with a captured dark wizard, it immediately drew the attention of all the wizards in the hall. Everyone turned to stare at Carl and Old Manu.

"Oh, Merlin, isn't that the dark wizard Manu Angel, who's been wanted for more than twenty years!"

"I heard he's a wanted criminal in fifteen different countries. I can't believe Tom Foley captured him!"

"Mr. Foley is from the Foley family — one of the twenty-eight Sacred Families. I always suspected there was more to him than meets the eye."

Manu Angel may not be as infamous as Grindelwald or Voldemort, but for years he successfully avoided capture and made a name for himself in the dark side of the wizarding world.

So when Carl appeared in the Ministry's main hall with Manu in tow, many older wizards immediately recognized him.

Noticing this, the receptionist witch quickly filled in a piece of paper, tapped it with her wand, and it flew off toward the magic lift in the form of a paper airplane.

"Please wait a moment. Mr. Theseus will be here soon."

Theseus Scamander — currently Chief Auror of the British Ministry of Magic and a war hero from the First World War — was the older brother of the renowned magizoologist Newt Scamander.

The details about Theseus flowed through Carl's mind — a mixture of the original Tom Foley's memories and knowledge from his previous life, when he'd gotten a preview of future events.

"Mr. Theseus is here in person — I'm relieved!"

Carl nodded casually.

A few minutes later, a group of Aurors pushed their way through the crowd, clearing a path. Among them was a tall, handsome wizard in his 30s — Theseus Scamander.

"Hello, I'm Theseus Scamander. On behalf of the Ministry of Magic, I want to thank you for helping us capture this man, Manu Angel!"

Theseus carefully inspected Old Manu and nodded to himself. The face was a perfect match. He extended his hand in a show of appreciation.

Carl handed Old Manu over to the Aurors and shook Theseus's hand.

"It's what I should do as a wizard. Compared to your contribution in the First World War, Mr. Theseus, this is nothing!"

Though the First World War was a Muggle conflict, it also drew many wizards into its battles. Pure-blood wizards were a small fraction of the community; many witches and wizards were Muggle-born or of mixed ancestry. During the war, numerous wizards fought to help their Muggle relatives and friends and to keep the peace — without letting ordinary people become aware of their magic.

Because of his power and service, Theseus Scamander was recognized as a war hero in the wizarding community.

"Crack!"

At the moment their hands met, the Daily Prophet's photographer pressed the shutter.

Once Old Manu was safely in Ministry custody, Torquil Travers, Director of Magical Law Enforcement, called in Carl and rewarded him with 1,000 Galleons.

The next morning, Barry went to Diagon Alley to buy the Daily Prophet. On the front page was a large, magical photo of Carl shaking hands with Theseus. The headline read:

"The Evil Black Wizard Manu Angel and the Righteous Wizard Tom Foley — War Hero Theseus Scamander Shocked!"

The article was a dramatic retelling of the story made up by Carl — although it seemed a little exaggerated. His showdown with Manu was described in vivid detail, emphasizing his brave resolve to confront a dark wizard in the name of justice.

"Although it's a bit over the top, the image has been successfully established. Overall, it's not bad."

After putting away the newspaper and asking Barry to keep an eye on the shop, Carl Apparated back to the Ministry of Magic.

This time when he walked through the Ministry's entrance, nearly everyone turned their heads to look at him. Some young witches, in particular, gazed at him with a mixture of admiration and curiosity.

"Good morning, Mr. Foley. How can I help you today?" The receptionist witch's tone was gentler and more friendly this time.

Carl nodded with a charming smile. "I'd like to rent a Portkey."

"Please fill in this form… Oh, Mr. Foley, you're going to New York?" The receptionist glanced at the destination and sighed. "I hear it's not very peaceful there lately. Please be careful."

"I have a friend there, and the shop isn't busy right now, so I thought I'd check in on him."

Carl nodded casually, took back the form once it was stamped, and walked toward the magic lift.

Today was December 2nd. If his memory was correct, in a few days' time, the renowned magizoologist Newt Scamander would be finishing his year-long journey and making his way back to New York — marking the true beginning of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
