Chapter 10 - [09] Unfaithful priest(III)

Held by both of my hands, the small stone dragon refused to answer anything at all.

"Could you tell me about that prophecy?".

"..No".

1 minute later

"At least tell me who created this dark world".

"The knight did it".

"who's the knight?".

"I have no idea".

2 minutes later

"Isn't it cold here? let me heat the room for you". A small fireball was casted around us-

"I can also use magic". A bluish fireball appeared alongside mine.

3 minutes later

"... To be honest, I'm Asriel Dreemurr you can tell me that prophecy".

"Dear Lightner, such an obvious lie can't deceive me".

After three minutes, the dragon hadn't told me anything at all. It left my hands and flew slightly above my head.

"Anyways, why are you so curious about a prophecy". Intrigued by all my questions, the dragon let itself rest using my head as a pillow.

"I heard a weird prophecy before and now I'm a bit worried about the future".

"What is that prophecy about?"-

"It talks about three heroes banishing the angel's heaven".

My words were ensued by a small silence.

"What kind of fanfiction have you been told?". The dragon asked me with a dumbfounded tone.

"Isn't it accurate dear librarian?". I asked in the most innocent tone possible.

"The prophecy talks about 4 heroes and there's no such thing as the angel's heaven".

"But librarian, isn't the prophecy about saving the world". At my words, the librarian stopped moving around my head.

"..Lightner, these happy endings can only be seen in fiction". I wanted to refute his words but he shut me.

"Anyways, I still have to give you the magic imprint".

"But-".

"Stay still".

I felt something akin to electrical shock as magic freely traveled across my body.

"It's done".

Strangely, after that I couldn't notice any changes. Shortly after, the dragon gave me a mirror and when I saw my own reflection, nothing changed.

"You can't tell the difference right away, but if you infuse some magic to your right eye you'll notice it".

I did what the dragon told me and put some of my magic to my right eye. Then, A small symbol glowed in an orange light, I looked at it for a moment before giving back.

"Dear dragon, could you teach me some magic?". He did this on a whim while I would probably need hundreds of tries just to imitate it. I could sense the start of a mentor and student bond, but my delusions were quickly shattered.

"I can't, or more accurately I won't".

"Why not? I could clean your library".

"Lightner, teaching you magic would only make me a little more hopeful".

I couldn't understand what he meant by that, so I asked it and what followed was a short silence.

"...This dark world was created a long time ago, for you lighters, our time runs differently than in reality. But for me, a darkner, time is as steady as it could get, and as time passed and my ignorant self started to get too curious."

As the dragon continued his tale, its gaze was lonely.

"Imagine having a tool to decipher your reality in an instant, anyone in their right minds would use that right? Well, when I used that tool I learned about the prophecy, a truth so sour it made me almost lose my mind".

Hearing that, I started to feel a little colder.

"So, to distract myself I decided to learn magic, that alone isolated myself on this library".

"Do you think isolation is the best for you?".

"That's what I want, this library is meaningless as no matter what I do, nothing would change. I want to forget and ensure nobody has to carry the weight of truth, at least in this dark world".

He had given up before even trying, how devastating could a prophecy be?

"Teaching you magic would only ignite a spark on me, a slight sense of hope that would make the naive me think that things can be changed".

I wanted to respond but no words left my mouth.

"You should leave already, it's rude to keep your boss waiting". As the dragon turned its back to me, I started putting my mask back and activating the symbol on my right eye, but before leaving I told him what I thought.

"Were more similar than you think, how can you be so sure that your actions won't change the future, in my opinion you could only say that there's no hope left after trying your best".

"... For someone from a cult that acknowledges that your world isn't reality you truly are positive".

"Even if this world isn't real, it doesn't make it meaningless, let me ask you, do you truly think this dark world is meaningless?".

"...".

The small stone dragon just remained in silence as I started leaving, but soon after it teleported in front of me.

"Prove it".

The dragon looked straight into my eyes before it continued.

"Prove me you're capable enough to change fate, only then I'll teach you everything I know".

"How can I do that?".

I couldn't hide my smile at the possibility of learning more about that prophecy.

"The shadow crystals, bring them to me before the last scene of the prophecy plays".

Another piece was added, and so retrieving shadow crystals was added to my to do list, the only problem was that I didn't know when or where another dark world would be made. The dragon acknowledging my lack of response.

"I won't give any details Lightner, don't you think this is a good challenge?".

I could see how the dragon was grinning as if of making fun of me.

"Don't underestimate me librarian, the first thing I will do after getting those shadow crystals will be stealing all of your books ".

After threatening it, the dragon just laughed and teleported me outside the library.

"It seems you befriended that librarian".

The bishop greeted me and we started heading back with the others. Seeing how lively this dark world was made me wonder how a dark world on the orphanage would look like. 'I probably can't make dark worlds anyways'.

***

When we returned with the others they kept talking about their 'research'. William approached me and told me that they were studying ways to go outside the world, he told me about how before the cult was divided the main thing they did was studying the soul and ways to use it's powers.

He told me about how they had a theoretical to create a connection between us and the true world, when I asked him what the method was, he told me that it consisted of using 7 awakened human souls.

"Haha! Don't make that expression, we won't go down that route". It seemed that this wing wasn't really dangerous for the world, to me it resembled more of a research group than a cult if we ignore the outfits.

"What does the 'real world' look like?". I asked this question out of curiosity as to what he would answer.

"Our leader claims that it is more ordinary than anything we imagine". That answer was quite interesting, I would also describe my world like that.

Their meeting was quite short as they only discussed their own findings and movements from the 2nd wing, the wing of fear. William told me about how they were in 'war' with them, as we possessed a lot of the theory about souls and such.

William told me that this meeting was optional as their normal meetings were held once a month, that was why there weren't almost any high-ranking cultists besides the bishop.

"Let's discuss a direct message from the archbishop". (Talking about rankings, this archbishop is basically the leader of the wing and my boss).

The whole room went silent as everyone was looking at the bishop. Then he took out his phone and played the audio.

"The first wing is moving, be prepared for any surprises".

This statement was followed by silence as the entire dark world seemed to be mute. I didn't exactly know what the archbishop meant by 'moving' but it made me slightly worried for my safety.

"The first wing hasn't really done anything since the leader left, we don't even know where they are located so hearing this puts us on edge".

William offered me an explanation as the meeting came to an end. We started heading back as everyone left the dark world.

***

After a long night I arrived back at the orphanage, Lyanna asked me about why did I arrive that and I told her I was with Alina, he seemed to believe it pretty easily and told me to eat dinner before going to bed.

After enjoying some pasta I went to sleep and while in bed I started thinking about everything that happened.

I successfully infiltrated the true fear church but at the same time got tangled up in its internal conflict. Also I learned about the existence of dark worlds and a prophecy that probably has a bad ending. Additionally, there's a roaring knight and possibly the leader of the True Fear Church has been transmigrated too.

The situation is getting more complex, but it's alright, there aren't any direct world ending threats yet except Frisk and Chara, I hope that stays like that for a long time. With that, I finally fell asleep.

That day I had a weird dream, I walked around the city but the whole world was drained of its color. No one was there, I tried to find anyone but the only thing that I could hear was the wind. I went to the rooftop of a building to see if I could see anything.

Then I saw it, White fur, white clothes and two small horns. It was me, I was there, walking away from the city. Then everything started to get blurry, he then proceeded to turn around and our gazes met.

His eyes were glowing with a deep blue hue, the whole dream started collapsing, before waking up he seemed something. Somehow, I heard what he said even though we were far away from each other.

What I heard was...

"Morning!". As Lyanna woke me up, I started forgetting about the dream, as I tried recalling what happened the only thing that came to my mind was a white world, devoid of any color.

***

After School I went to work and as always Alina came too, after being in t6he cult for some weeks my bond with William strengthened.

"Have you finally achieved what you wanted?". Alina, drinking her usual mocha, asked me.

"Yeah, there's no need to stalk him anymore".

"Aw, at least we could stalk him whenever were bored".

"You were the one that told me stalking is bad".

"That was before, now it0s different".

I decided to stop bartering with Alina as I was supposedly working, before attending another customer Alina grab me by the sleeve.

"Tell me, what did you discover?". I sighed as I needed to keep that a secret.

"Sorry, It's a secret". She pouted a bit.

"You're really a bad friend, I think that our friendship won't last long, except if you compensate me".

"Alright, what do you want?". With a victorious grin Alina demanded.

"You'll have to buy me an ice cream".

"Deal".

The next day was Saturday, so me and Alina met at noon. Before that I bought her a mint ice cream, which was her favorite. When I arrived at the park she waved at me and I gave her the ice cream.

She analyzed it for a few seconds before facing me.

"Zen, is this a joke?".

The ice cream was as big as her pinky finger and the actual mint ice cream was the size of a marble.

"I don't know what you mean, this is just an extra small ice cream for your extra small body".

If a gaze could kill, her gaze would be that of a dog with a stupidly big knife.

"Pfft". A small chuckle almost escaped my lips as I couldn't contain my laughter.

That day Alina was strangely cold to me, I wonder why?

***

The day started with heavy rain, the only thing that could be heard from the streets were the constant waterdrops plummeting to the ground. This was the perfect day to stay at home, but sadly the 3rd wing had a meeting today and I had to go.

Everything was dark and the clouds covered the sky, on a day like this the last thing I wanted to do was going out. But alas, I told Lyanna a shitty excuse and met William.

Together we went through the Mistwood forest and reached his cabin, then headed towards the cave. (Having a glowing magic tattoo was surprisingly helpful in dark days).

After entering the dark world, I went towards the library as usual, and the small dragon greeted me. The first time I entered, I thought the books were about magic, but surprisingly a good 90% of them were just stories, the dragon librarian really was a glutton reader.

"Welcome Latte".

"Hello Grey".

In the cult, we addressed each other by nicknames. It could be whatever you wanted so mine was Latte, this one was inspired by William, who's called Coffee

After that the meeting started and members discussed their findings, they were really helpful to me as they also investigated magic, some even taught me new ways to use it.

It seemed that today was just another normal meeting, until someone entered screaming. The bishop, calm as always asked him.

"What's the matter Windmill?".

"Th-they're here, they came after us!".

As I started heading outside with some members, I could understand what the commotion was about.

The cloaked figures from that day, the one's kidnapping monsters and humans in the hopes of summoning a God, the wing of fear appeared.

But what shook me the most was the one in front of all of them, with a pristine white cloak and a carefully designed mask, they were clearly different from all the others. For some reason I could feel a sense of unease from them.

"Don't you think you have been hidden enough time, second wing?".

With these words the night really started.
