The civil war in the land of noodles raged for nearly two months, a conflict that left thousands dead and many more wounded. The sudden withdrawal from Kumogakure put an end to Daimyo Chikara's attempts to quell the rebel uprising, forcing him to make the only possible choice: abandon his nation and go into exile in the land of lightning, allowing the capital to be taken by the rebels and a new government to emerge under Shinsuke's leadership.
Touki sincerely thought there would be a different outcome, though he doesn't complain about the fact that the Divine Order gained another nation under its control. Indeed, while a war raged in the Land of Noodles, a quiet and peaceful coup d'état took place in the Land of Tea, where one of the Daimyo's sons wrested control of the nation from his elderly father.
The man couldn't help but feel a little pride in having two entire nations under his control, even if they are two of the smallest and least populated in the world. The first demonstration of his power was to have the new ruler of the Land of Noodles order the immediate withdrawal of Konohagakure's ninja from the nation, something the village complied with in less than 24 hours.
For two months of war and several more of preparation, Touki dedicated most of his time to crafting artifacts, with the famous hand cannons taking up almost all of his effort. While he didn't actually participate in the actual manufacturing of the weapons, he had to implement thousands of programs into them, to the point that he and Suki now almost memorize the hand seals used. The program used is an extremely simplified version of the shotgun he once used on his travels, which operates on an explosive principle and uses a minimal amount of energy, taking less than 10 seconds to recharge. But that's not all, as he managed to craft a fully optimized version similar to his sniper rifle, which he used to arm a handful of apostles, who were tasked with killing several Kumogakure jounin in the final battles around Sakon City.
The battles with Kumo were a valuable source of information for the Divine Order, both for testing weapons and tactics, as well as the strategies needed to defeat the ninjas. Touki tested all kinds of explosive devices, most of them made with explosive tags and designed to be easy to construct, from hand grenades to antipersonnel mines. The results were surprising, as these simple devices were responsible for causing the greatest number of casualties among the ninja ranks and allowed the rebels to hold out until Kumogakure decided to use its jutsus of mass destruction.
Thanks to the information obtained, the Divine Order has begun a complete restructuring of its military forces, emphasizing far more innovative uses of explosives, improved hand cannons, and anti-ninja tactics far superior to those used by the rebels in the war. Touki also suggested new types of military technologies and an industrial approach to the manufacture of weapons components, such as mass production and the electrification of metallurgy—very modern by the current standards of Naruto's world, but not impossible to implement.
In the same field of technology, Touki found, on one of his many trips to the capital, the surprise of discovering that there is a company completely dedicated to electronics and computer systems similar to his old world, although much more focused on medical research (Which explains in a certain sense the advanced electronic instruments that Orochimaru and Danzo possessed in the anime). Needless to say, the first thing the man did was buy the most advanced computer they had in the store, something like a model from the 70s or 80s in his old world, capable of being programmed in a fairly primitive language, although familiar to him, leaving him quite confused about the real technological level of this strange world.
Dusting off his old programming knowledge and learning how to use a computer with only a Japanese keyboard, Touki set out to begin an ambitious personal project: to create a program to aid him in his currently stalled research into hand seal combinations, which have slowly become inhumanly difficult to predict. The man knows it will be arduous work and will take a long time, but he believes it's the only way to take the next step toward discovering new powers and abilities.
On a separate note, Suki has made tremendous progress in her eye skills, now able to open them for several minutes without tiring and even using some basic ocular powers, such as analytical vision and some types of genjutsu. The girl says she feels like she's in heaven, finally like a normal person, at least when she opens her eyes, and able to enjoy the things she's always dreamed of, such as watching sunrises, sunsets, flowers, her favorite sweets, the faces of her family and other familiar faces, which she can unfortunately only gaze at hidden away through the window of her house, so no one will know she has new eyes.
Suki and Izumi have begun to get along quite well, with the latter being the most interested in seeing the former's new eyes used to their full potential, so she has taken it upon herself to train her in the Uchiha clan's techniques. Touki isn't entirely sure why Izumi is so interested in teaching Suki how to use her eyes, but he suspects that since they both now possess the Sharingan, she may feel a natural affinity, or simply want to keep everyone associated with her clan close.
The atmosphere in Konoha has been volatile over the past few months, with the war and rumors of a possible international escalation. Even the children have been worried, mainly by stories from their parents, arguments at the academy, and the news in general. The village is fairly primitive in its means of communication, but it still has local newspapers and receives weekly copies from the capital. War is a sensitive topic for the generations who lived through the last great ninja war more than a decade ago, and this infects the younger generations with enormous apprehension, despite the fact that we are talking about a place that ironically thrives on conflict.
More than 3,000 ninjas were dispatched to the border as the war seemed to take on a new dimension, with the near-total destruction of a city and violent retaliation by the rebels against Kumogakure and the capital of the Land of Noodles. The people of Konoha expected the worst, with their village and the Land of Fire drawn into the conflict. When the war ended so suddenly, it caused everyone to breathe a sigh of relief that almost made them celebrate as if it were their own victory. No one had to mourn the loss of a loved one, and no one had to experience the horror of this new kind of conflict.
But when detailed information about what really happened in the Land of Noodles and the true nature of the conflict that erupted became known, Konoha as a whole began to realize that a new way of waging war had arrived, one that made the ninja far more vulnerable than ever.
