Oh! Merlin above!
Finally, he's learned a spell that's somewhat interesting!
As for why this spell isn't on Flitwick's list...
Well...
Let's just say that no one would normally use such a terrifying spell in a proper dueling match.
At this moment, Snape slowly walked toward Devrow through the swirling dust.
His face was expressionless, but if you looked closely, you could see a hint of triumph in his eyes.
"Do you concede? Or would you like me to cast another curse?" Snape asked coolly.
Devrow curled his lip. Of course, he knew what Snape wanted — to force him to admit defeat and beg for mercy.
"You psychological freak!" Devrow spat.
Thanks to the Shield Charm, he wasn't seriously injured. He nimbly pushed himself up from the ground.
Right now, a battle raged in Devrow's mind.
Should he stick to the original plan... or give Snape something bigger?
Suddenly, a wave of dizziness hit him.
Devrow clutched his forehead.
"Damn it! My magic is about to run out again!" he cursed inwardly.
Actually, it wasn't that Devrow's magic was completely depleted — it had simply crossed a certain threshold.
At this stage, he'd suffer a lot of pain but could still cast spells.
It was similar to that morning when he animated all the stone piers, which knocked him out cold afterward.
Considering the new spell's consumption rate, Devrow made a judgment:
"It seems I can only continue with the original plan! What a pity. I really wanted to blast that old bat into the sky."
He looked up at Snape.
Suddenly, Devrow waved his wand.
"Lapifors!"
As the spell was cast, all the broken wood, rocks, and scattered weapons in the classroom floated into the air.
Snape raised an eyebrow.
Clearly, he hadn't expected Devrow to know a spell of this level.
He immediately reacted.
"Protego!"
Yes, for the first time that night, Snape used a Shield Charm!
Whoosh!
Devrow pointed his wand directly at Snape.
The floating debris surged towards Snape like a violent storm.
Crackle! Crackle!
The noise echoed through the classroom.
When the dust settled, Snape was still standing unscathed.
A neat circle surrounded him — the area within spotless, while the outside was littered with broken stones, sharp weapons, and wood chips.
Snape looked up at Devrow, who stood opposite, smiling faintly and still aiming his wand.
Snape sneered, shaking his head.
"Using a trick that's already been seen through? Ridiculous."
"Expelliarmus!" Devrow shouted.
"Expelliarmus!" Snape countered.
Both chose to attack at the same time.
The difference was: Devrow aimed at Snape directly, while Snape aimed at a corner of the classroom.
Bang! Bang!
Two loud noises rang out!
A table in the corner exploded into wooden fragments.
Meanwhile, Snape was hit squarely by Devrow's Disarming Charm.
He flew backward with an incredulous look on his face, his wand flying out of his hand.
"Professor, some tricks are only effective once they're seen through," Devrow said triumphantly, brushing dust from his robes.
He flicked his wand, summoning Snape's fallen wand toward himself.
But at that moment, Snape suddenly bent over and sat up.
He clenched his fist in the air.
"Stupefy!"
Three sensations flooded Devrow instantly.
First, the infinitely magnified red light before his eyes.
Second, the system's sweet notification sound:
[Ding!]
[New spell has been added to the library!]
Third, the furious roar in his heart:
"Someone cheated!!!"
— —
Huff!
Snape lay panting heavily amid the classroom wreckage, his whole body aching.
He gazed at the unconscious Devrow lying opposite him, a deep shock in his eyes.
He thought back to the Transfiguration, movement skills, depth of spell accumulation, and even tactics Devrow had displayed.
This was definitely not the level of a student who had just begun learning dueling.
Moreover, Devrow was still only a first-year.
Snape couldn't help but click his tongue.
"Hell," he muttered. "I almost lost here. This kid is a monster...
Now it seems no student at Hogwarts can match him.
Of course, even so, he still can't beat me... for now."
He frowned.
"The most annoying part is that he can instantly master my spell techniques. His understanding of spells might already be approaching my own."
"If Dumbledore hadn't gone out today, he would've been thrilled to witness this."
Snape rubbed his temples.
He had a strong premonition:
If he fought Devrow a few more times, he would no longer be his opponent.
After all, Devrow would definitely learn all his techniques.
"This kid is too shocking," Snape sighed.
"But thankfully, he hasn't learned the Exploding Curse yet.
If he had, he might have really used it — and it's one of the most dangerous Dark Arts, not some common curse."
After resting and adjusting himself for a while, Snape stood up.
He walked over, picked up Devrow's wand, and poked Devrow's stomach with the tip.
The next moment, Devrow floated into the air like a puppet.
Snape retrieved Devrow's wand and tucked it securely at his waist.
Then, he waved his wand, causing Devrow to float out of the ruined classroom.
Ha!
Snape exhaled slowly.
He glanced at the mess around him and shook his head.
"Luckily, I set up a Soundproof Charm beforehand."
Then he waved his wand again.
"Reparo!"
— —
When consciousness returned, Devrow slowly opened his eyes.
A familiar ceiling greeted him.
This was probably the second time he'd seen this view in two days.
The morning sun streamed through the infirmary windows, casting a warm glow on the floor.
Devrow felt a strange sense of peace.
He scratched his head and sat up, looking around.
As expected, Snape had sent him back to the school infirmary.
Next to him lay a red-haired upperclassman, hand wrapped in thick gauze.
He looked utterly exhausted.
It was Percy Weasley!
Still, Devrow wasn't in the mood for conversation.
He frowned, recalling what had happened the night before.
"Damn it. I didn't expect Snape to hide wandless magic up his sleeve," he muttered bitterly.
"In high-level battles, you can't be like Harry — always relying on a single Disarming Charm.
You'll eventually fall."
Still, despite losing, the harvest from one night was enormous!
Devrow eagerly opened his system panel.
Three new spells were added to his library:
[Spell Library: Splitting Spell (Proficient), Wandless Magic (Entry), Exploding Curse (Entry)]
Incredibly, the Splitting Spell had already reached Proficient after just a single use.
It seemed his overall spell mastery had improved — meaning the number of times needed for practice had dropped too.
"Good!" Devrow grinned to himself.
"I'll find a place to practice the Exploding Curse later and push it to Proficient level.
Next time I see Snape, I'll give him a real explosion!"
Lying back on the bed, he lazily stretched, feeling content.
He pressed a hand against his forehead.
Then he suddenly remembered something —
Hiss!
Today was the day Quirrell would demonstrate the three Unforgivable Curses!
I'm late!
