Back at the Omega Black Empire, Luna Rose and Teresa performed the spell for protection. No vampire could get into the premises, nor could any other supernatural being enter. After Teresa was done with the chanting, she went to her own territory—the Alpha Mega Empire, which was deeper in the forest. The same protection spell was cast on the other empires as well.
The Alpha Mega Empire was the largest, with five hundred thousand members, followed by the Omega Black Empire. The Alpha Mega Empire was created especially to protect Luna. Teresa was doing her best, learning spells and everything else she could. The original female lead and Teresa had been friends since childhood. Luna had been abandoned and picked up from the streets by a street mafia gang. The original female lead was raised by a small mafia gang who killed to survive.
Teresa's parents were part of that mafia gang, together with Lena and Rose's parents. The gang loved Luna and cared for her, sending her on missions and training her. One day, a group of vampires destroyed the gang, but the kids were spared. The original female lead was nine years old at the time. From then on, Lena, Teresa, Rose, and Luna lived together, forming their own gang and surviving by stealing.
Evan was the girl the original female lead helped, and from there, they became friends. But Luna started gaining power and distanced herself from them, making it clear she was the boss. When the gang first started, they swore to themselves that they would only steal. But Luna began killing. She gained power and wealth. The Alpha Mega Empire was the first empire she built. After that, she bought the company. And now, look at her—she had been consumed by power and money, losing every trace of humanity in her.
Luna (the bookworm) went back to the mansion together with Teresa. She was so exhausted after the long night of finding the spell. She went to her room to catch some sleep while Teresa went to the room where she normally made potions. She tried making a lot of the same potion.
By evening, the maids had prepared dinner and arranged everything perfectly on the dining table. Luna came to the dining room, seeing everything was ready. She was wearing a long black dress, and her hair was tied up in one bundle. She slowly sat down on one of the seats the maid had pulled out for her.
"Where is Teresa? Isn't she coming for dinner?" she asked one of the maids.
"She is in one of the guest rooms resting," a maid replied.
"Send for her immediately," Luna demanded, and the maid bowed and left.
Minutes later, Teresa arrived and took a seat at the other end of the table.
"Come on, let's eat," Luna smiled warmly at Teresa.
"You've worked all day long, so get a lot of rest after eating," she said, and Teresa could only nod. She was just happy that Luna had been kind to them these past few days.
They began eating in silence. Suddenly, a little girl ran toward Luna and pushed the food she was about to eat from her spoon. The spoon fell to the floor along with a bowl of food. Some of the food also spilled onto Luna's chest.
She looked at the little, cute girl standing and just staring.
"I'm so sorry, please, please, she's just a kid. Have mercy," an old maid came immediately, begging on her knees.
"Please, have mercy, have mercy," she sobbed. All the maids around felt sorry for the little kid. The original female lead wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone who did such a thing.
"Boss, let it go, she's just a kid," Teresa begged as well.
"I'm hungry! I'm so hungry. I want to eat that food," the little girl cried, pointing her finger at the food on the dining table.
"Are you crazy?!" the old woman said, slapping the little girl, who only cried more.
"Who owns this child?" Teresa asked firmly. "Wait, she's a vampire," Teresa gasped, looking at the kid.
"Vampire?" Luna repeated. "Where did you find this kid, old woman?" Luna demanded. She hated vampires with a passion, and the girl had said she was hungry.
"I saw her on the street when I went to get groceries," the old woman explained, still kneeling with trembling knees. "Please punish me instead. She is just a homeless kid," the woman cried.
Luna ignored her and stood up. She walked over to the little girl and gently knelt on one knee. All the maids watched.
She then petted the little girl's head.
"Kid? Are you hungry?" she asked, and the girl nodded.
"What do you want to eat?" Luna asked, afraid the girl would say "blood."
"The food over there," the girl said, and Luna breathed a sigh of relief. Though vampires drink blood, they also eat food. Blood is just what stimulates their blood cells to function as vampires. Without it, a vampire cannot survive.
"Okay, come. Let's eat together," Luna said, and all the maids were confused. Teresa was happy—Luna was starting to act like she did when they were kids.
Luna led the girl to the dining table, helping her into one of the chairs. She took some porridge soup and placed it in a single plate, handing it to the girl. The little girl took the spoon and slowly scooped the porridge, putting it in her mouth carefully.
"Do you like it?" Luna asked, and the little girl nodded.
"It's so good. Thank you, sister," she said, and Luna froze. No one in her entire life had ever called her that.
"She's not your sister," Teresa said, not wanting to anger Luna and risk her hurting the kid.
"No, she is. You can call me sister, okay?" Luna said, and the girl smiled.
"Okay, sister," she said as she continued eating. Everyone was surprised, including Teresa.
Soon, they were done eating, and the maids cleared the table. Luna was still sitting, wiping the little girl's mouth with a napkin.
"Will you read me a story?" she asked. Luna was overjoyed. She was just happy she had a little sister.
"Yes, of course, dear," she said, smiling slightly. She didn't mind that this girl was a vampire. All that mattered was that she had found someone she could love.
"I love stories a lot, and I know a lot of them," she said to the kid.
The next thing…
"Please, please! No, no!" the girl cried.
"What is the matter, dear? Did I hurt you?" Luna asked, utterly surprised at the girl's sudden behavior.
"You okay?" she asked, and apprehension was evident in her eyes. Teresa stood up and went to the little girl, gently holding her shoulders.
"What is going on with you?" Teresa asked.
"People are crying," the girl said, and Teresa finally understood. This girl was a vampire and could hear things from afar. That could only mean one thing—vampires were here.
"Boss, we need to leave. I think the girl can hear vampires outside."
