Chapter 23 - Chapter 21

"Don't be sad. He said all that cas' he's used to being the dominator but you stood up against him." Ashley added.

"Did he call my mom?"

"No, he didn't. He should be ashamed of himself by now. I haven't even spoken to him yet cas' he's gone hiding but I will."

Bree nodded and shrugged. Then, she smiled.

"Thank you, Ashley. I really appreciate your support. All the time."

"Yes, Bree. Anyday. So, uh, will you be able to attend the church service today?"

Bree made a sad face and shook her head.

"You need to rest. I'll make breakfast."

When Alejandro saw Bree walk out of the apartment, he didn't know what to say but he was quick to check himself and still his jaw, irritated at himself. At everything.

Bree didn't seem to notice him. She got in the backseat and Ashley's followed suit.

She didn't even look at him one moment like she used to and that irritated the hell out of him.

But he tried not to show it so he kept his eyes in front.

His sister gave him a shoulder squeeze and a 'Good Morning' but Bree wasn't even conscious of the room. She was listening to music from her Earpods.

Likely loud music at that.

Jeez.

And the moment she sat in, she went into a deep eye-closing fest. Blocking him out.

Ashley noticed Alejandro glaring from the rearview mirror and bit her lip so she wouldn't laugh.

It came out as a smirk.

She looked out the window.

The drive to the campus was too silent and improved the ongoing tension.

Ashley tried to talk but Alejandro wasn't giving her the listening ear for one second.

He was really good at it.

Bree bolted out of the cybertruck the instant that it stopped and marched off into the different heads of students who were going about their business.

Ashley left too and Alejandro didn't hear her say 'Goodbye'.

He remained there.

Because he was glaring at the innocent girl who was trying to put in a vicious show but he had to not mind.

He needed to try.

School was over and Bree was running down the stairs when she ran smack into a girl who had jumped into her way from the side.

Brielle gasped and looked up sharply.

It was either she looked up out of shock or due to immediate recognition of the owner of those large skirts and gothic boots.

And lo, it was the girl.

The pretty, nerdy girl from the party!

Bree was surprised when their teeths came into light. Mutually actually.

"Hey." The girl squealed, grabbing her arms. "I knew I would find you here. Do you remember me? Crazy Nerd Tiffany?"

"Yeah." Bree laughed. "You're not a crazy nerd."

"Haha. I remember your name. It's Bree."

"Yes!"

The girls weren't even noticing the looks they got all the way because all they seemed to be seeing at the moment was each other.

".... we were so drunk and I didn't expect the night to end like that."

"Me too. I.... Well.... How did you get home?"

"Well, I slept there till the next morning and found my way home."

"Oh my God. I wish I wasn't so drunk to realize you'd be on such a cold floor."

"Haha. Don't blame anyone. I was the one who initiated the drunkenness, remember?"

The girls laughed.

"It's so good to see you." Bree said.

"You too."

"Wish I'd been able to tell you but I was hoping we could go out. I'll buy."

Bree gasped and blinked.

"My God, I'm greedy...."

"Nah. Will you come?"

Bree blushed and then quickly composed herself before giving her a big nod.

"Great. So, how was it with Alejandro...."

There was an interruption because someone grabbed Bree's hair softly and went behind her.

Shocked, she turned.

"Ayy, great hair you got here, baby girl."

His voice came out soft as silk. Smooth. Bree swallowed and glanced at her nerdy friend who seemed to have gone into protective mode and was making to smack the strange guy's hand off.

He was quick to move his hand off. He smirked down at Bree who was staring at him in open-mouthed wonder.

"Do you remember me?"

Surprised by the question, Bree looked at Tiffany for better clarification.

She didn't even notice the strange guy touching her hair again in amazement.

Tiffany looked stuck too but not for long because she went into the protective mode again.

"Get your hands off her, bastard!"

Someone grabbed the stranger's neck and the two girls staggered back, taken aback.

Bree's head swelled and her eyes popped out of her head with a gasp.

She had totally forgotten about Alejandro being her chauffeur but she wasn't even going to be following him at the end of the day.

She was going out with Tiffany.

Alejandro pushed Mr Stranger and the guy was instantly hitting the floor.

Bree flared and hurried after Alejandro as he tried to reach him and inflict more aggression.

She screamed.

"Get away from him."

Sharply, Alejandro turned to stare daggers at her. Bree didn't care.

"I didn't ask you to save me! What do you want?"

Alejandro's countenance twitched off and he looked unsure about what she had just said.

"Yes." Bree clarified. "I'm going out with Tiffany."

Alejandro looked at Tiffany. Tiffany nodded at the ground.

Silence.

He was not sure what to feel but he was really really slammed in the face.

Then.

"You're going nowhere." He ground out, viciously. She flinched for a short moment in time.

Bree took a moment to take that in and then, she narrowed her eyes at him.

"There's nothing you can do. Leave me alone."

At that, Bree went to grab Tiffany's hand and they began to hurry away.

Alejandro didn't say anything but he watched.

Maybe he didn't know what was best to do or say or if he had gone dumbstruck. Or maybe both.

But what he felt was beyond him.

He blinked and watched the girls hurry out of sight and suddenly he was striding fast after them.

Fast as he was, he was soon grabbing Bree by her backpack and shoving her to look at him.

"You think I'm joking around?"
