Chapter 35 - Chapter 34 - Yozakura Family I

Note: So, when I was trying to revise my story, a reader just noticed the 'unfairness' of my story in two different places. They asked me privately on Watt**d, saying:

"Author, why does your Indonesian version have complete information about all the template characters' abilities while the English version (on Webnovel) doesn't? Please, also provide the 'Power & Ability Data' related to those templates on Webnovel. I want to read it toođŸ„ČđŸ„Č"

And yeah, something like that. Honestly, I thought you guys wouldn't need stuff like that because you could look it up on wikis or other websites. (You Webnovel readers are so smart. Your brains can probably remember it in a flash)

And another reason... I'm quite embarrassed. The ability data for each template I only explain in broad strokes (which I think you know better than me, unlike my readers on Watt**d who actually enjoy reading the information). Besides, not everything is 100% accurate—some parts I've added or modified.

But to be fair, I'll update the ability information for every template character in Volume 0. You're also welcome to help or provide images/gifs in the paragraph comments (for example, if there's an explanation about the Rasengan jutsu, you can help provide a Rasengan image in that explanation to make it more visual).

I also accept suggestions from you all that I think should indeed be added. I'll edit it promptly to make it appropriate.

However, once again REMEMBER! The information in this fanfic shouldn't be equated with the original information. (Please, I don't want to be criticized).

But conversely, if you want to use the character information I created for writing your own fanfic, you can use it freely😊😊

Time has a strange way of flowing—for some people, seconds pass like lightning strikes, while for others, every minute feels like an eternity that suffocates the soul.

CLANG! CLANG! BOOM!

"Guhak!"

Sparks ignited the evening air, born from the brutal collision between two blades hungry for victory. On one side, an ordinary steel sword dulled by time; on the other, a katana gleaming with a calm yet deadly killer's aura.

But this battle ended quickly. The owner of the steel sword was brutally thrown backward, his body floating momentarily before crashing hard into the ground. His blade was now cracked and nearly broken—unable to withstand the relentless assault of the katana that danced with lethal grace.

A young man with jet-black hair and blue eyes now lay sprawled on the dusty ground. His white training clothes were stained with sweat and dirt, his chest rising and falling with the rhythm of labored breathing. His face was bruised and exhausted—clear evidence of the intensity of the sparring session he had just endured.

"Not bad for a beginner," a calm voice broke the silence. "Though you've only been training for a few weeks, your foundation is starting to strengthen. At least you're no longer like a freshly hatched chick."

Hearing the comment that sounded like both praise and mockery, the young man named Chen Ye lifted his heavy head. His blue eyes gazed at the petite figure standing before him with a composed posture.

Before him stood a small girl wearing a sleeveless white-red kimono, showcasing arms that, though small, were full of strength from years of training. Her snow-white hair was tied in twin ponytails that swayed gently in the evening breeze. In her small right hand, she gripped an ordinary katana.

The most striking feature was her eyes that remained perpetually closed...

Chen Ye took a deep breath, feeling the cold air fill his burning lungs. "Thank you so much for your... praise, Master Inaba," he said with a slightly sarcastic tone.

Hearing the 'Master' address that sounded sincere yet laden with frustration, the petite girl seemed pleased for a moment. But to maintain her dignity and authority as a teacher, she only coughed softly while turning her face away. "Hmph, don't get proud so quickly. There's still much you need to master."

The corner of Chen Ye's mouth twitched. What? First praising, now immediately crushing his morale?

As if not noticing—or perhaps deliberately ignoring—the displeased expression on her student's face, the girl continued in a flat tone, "Rest for now. We'll continue again later."

Chen Ye could only nod weakly, his body too exhausted to protest. He chose to remain lying on the cool ground, gazing at the evening sky that was gradually changing from blue to golden orange. This view, at least, could soothe a soul wounded by a thoroughly beaten ego.

Nearly a month had passed since he arrived in this legendary city—Master Swordsman City—and joined the mysterious family known as the Yozakura Family. And Chen Ye had to honestly admit... aside from a few certain people who still possessed a glimmer of compassion in their teaching methods, most members of this family were sadists disguised as teachers!

Every time he recalled the faces of these 'trainers' who were actually torturing demons in disguise, Chen Ye's body shuddered with dread. Yet at the same time, he couldn't help but feel amazed by the strength and skills possessed by the Yozakura Family.

Although this family lagged behind in terms of member count compared to the other two families in Master Swordsman City—their members could even be counted on one hand—strangely they still possessed abundant wealth and influence that couldn't be underestimated.

And most importantly... they were strong. Very strong.

Chen Ye couldn't help but recall the 'painful' yet 'blessed' journey of his life while staying in this place...

***

On the first day, which he thought would be friendly training, Chen Ye was trained directly by Inaba Tsukuyo—the blind girl who was now staring at him with an empty yet soul-piercing gaze. Instead of immediately teaching cool and captivating sword techniques, Inaba Tsukuyo forced the young man to master the boring yet important fundamentals.

This decision wasn't without reason. Chen Ye's SS Rank Talent—Emperor of Sword Talent—only unleashed its potential after its owner absorbed sword knowledge and theory instantly, then applied it directly with astounding mastery.

The Sword King, of course, knew about this extraordinary potential. But precisely because of that, the old soul felt overwhelmed. As a 'genius' who mastered swords through instinct and battle experience, he was terrible at explaining theory and basic concepts with words. If not for this, he wouldn't have humbly asked the Yozakura Family to seriously train his 'foolish student.'

Fortunately, the Sword King's decision proved correct. In just a very short time, Chen Ye had transformed from a clumsy beginner into a true swordsman!

But that was just the beginning of the real hell.

When he entered the intensive training phase with other Yozakura Family members, Chen Ye could only feel his brain about to explode.

How could it not? Besides their training methods that could be called 'insane' and 'inhumane,' each family member had their own unique and distinctive sword techniques that even the Emperor of Sword had to struggle hard to understand and master!

Of course, not all techniques were that difficult. There were some that were relatively easier for Chen Ye to digest thanks to his extraordinary Talent. One example was Inaba Tsukuyo's sword art.

Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu Style Iai—that was the name of the sword technique that was Inaba Tsukuyo's main specialty. This technique basically focused on two things: lightning-fast movement and sword swings.

This was why Inaba Tsukuyo could move at speeds almost invisible to the naked eye. Every slash of her katana, despite using a blunt blade for training, still produced terrifying pressure capable of cutting dry leaves floating in the air.

Chen Ye could master the basics of this technique without significant difficulty, thanks to the Emperor of Sword. However, Inaba Tsukuyo actually possessed a much broader and deeper arsenal of sword knowledge. It's just that the girl chose to focus on Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu Style Iai because that's what suited her fighting style best.

Combined with her sight condition that had been lost since birth, Inaba Tsukuyo preferred to end every battle with a single attack that finished everything—either the opponent's life or the battle itself.

However, Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu Style Iai had an advanced form called 'Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu: Unyou Shuyunkou'—a technique that even now Chen Ye hadn't fully mastered...

Konno Yƫki.

Among all the Yozakura Family members Chen Ye had met, without doubt this girl was one of his favorites.

Unlike some other family members who tended to be cold, indifferent, or even wore fake smiles, this girl radiated genuine sincerity and kindness.

Besides her attractive personality, her racial origin was also very intriguing—not just to Chen Ye, but even the Sword King was interested and curious.

The Fairy race—Konno YĆ«ki's identity. This race was one of the hidden races that historically always avoided direct contact with the human race. However, in Konno YĆ«ki's special case, she had undergone a mutation that transformed her into a sub-species known as an 'Imp.'

The question that immediately arose in Chen Ye's mind was: Isn't an Imp a type of demon?

Fortunately, Konno Yƫki patiently and generously explained it to the curious Chen Ye.

"Alright, listen carefully," Konno Yƫki said while taking the position of a teacher. She used the tip of her sword to draw various silhouettes in the dusty ground. "The Fairy race has the ability to fly like the Angel race, right? However, the difference between these two races lies in their elements."

Konno Yƫki drew several Fairy figures in various shapes and sizes. "The Angel race generally has holy and light elements. So what about the Fairy race?" She looked at Chen Ye with sparkling eyes like an excited child explaining her favorite hobby.

"There are Fairies who master the fire element," she continued while drawing a figure with flaming wings. "There are those who master the water element. There are also those who specialize in crafting and become Blacksmiths."

Konno Yƫki then pointed to herself with a smile. "And me? I'm a Fairy who focuses on mastering the darkness element, which in our classification is called an 'Imp.'"

She raised her index finger like a teacher wanting to emphasize an important point. "So the conclusion is: there are Imps who come from the Fairy race, and there are Imps who come from the Demon race. Both are different entities despite having the same name. Do you understand roughly?"

"Oh..." Chen Ye nodded slowly, his eyes shining with admiration for the new knowledge he had just acquired.

Even the Sword King, who wasn't easily impressed, was also surprised. In his long journey as a Transcendent being, this was the first time he learned that the Fairy race actually had such a complex and diverse classification system.

"So you can use Dark Magic?" Chen Ye asked.

"Of course I can," Konno Yƫki answered with an enthusiastic smile. "There are several characteristics of Imp-type Fairies that distinguish us from other subspecies. First, our dominant nuance is dark purple, and we're known as Night Rulers. Our bodies are naturally very flexible and light, allowing acrobatic movements that are almost impossible for other subspecies to perform."

Konno Yƫki then raised her five fingers. "And there are five special abilities that are characteristic of Imp physiology."

First: 'Flight.' Like the Fairy race in general, Imps can grow wings that allow them to fly freely. However, their wings more resemble bat wings.

Second: 'Dark Magic.' As mentioned, Imps have a very high natural affinity for Dark Magic and can use it with extraordinary efficiency.

Third: 'Underground Flight.' Imps can dramatically increase their flying speed when in places not exposed to direct sunlight, such as caves, basements, or dense forests at night.

Fourth: 'Wall Run.' As the name suggests, this ability allows Imps to run on vertical surfaces like walls or cliffs for a certain period.

And finally: 'Night Vision.' Imps have perfect night vision, allowing them to see clearly even in total darkness that no light can penetrate.

Konno Yƫki explained each point with contagious enthusiasm, but suddenly her expression changed to slightly shy and awkward. "But... although I can use Dark Magic well, I actually rarely use it in battle."

"Eh? Why?" Chen Ye asked curiously.

"Because I prefer and focus more on using swords!" she exclaimed with eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "Now, let's get into the real main discussion."

Konno YĆ«ki raised her sword which had a dark purple color—'Obsidian Sword.'

"Actually," Konno Yƫki continued while scratching her cheek awkwardly, "in terms of foundation and basic sword theory, I admit that I'm not the best teacher. I more often rely on Imp agility and body flexibility to defeat my opponents."

Chen Ye frowned. Then what makes her confident enough to teach me?

As if she could read the question clearly written on Chen Ye's face, Konno Yƫki smiled with sudden radiating confidence. "I'll teach you an original sword technique that I created myself: Mother's Rosario."

"Mother's Rosario..." Chen Ye repeated the technique name slowly.

"Yep! And the best way to understand a technique is by seeing a direct demonstration," Konno Yƫki said while looking for a suitable target. Her eyes stopped at a large rock located not far from them. "Oh! We'll use that rock as a practice target."

She walked with light steps toward the rock, then turned to face Chen Ye. "So, watch carefully, okay? Don't blink."

Chen Ye straightened his body and focused all his attention on Konno Yƫki who was now preparing with her sword.

And then... the atmosphere around them completely changed.

Konno Yƫki, who was usually cheerful and innocent, suddenly radiated a very different aura. The Obsidian Sword blade began to glow with an intense purple gleam, as if the sword itself was alive.

Then—

Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! BOOM!

Chen Ye blinked as Konno Yƫki's lightning-fast series of thrusts destroyed the large rock in an instant. All that remained were small fragments scattered in the air.

"Can you count how many thrusts I made just now?" Konno Yƫki asked with a happy smile, as if she had just performed an amazing magic trick.

Chen Ye was silent for a moment, replaying the movement he had just witnessed. "...Eleven?" he answered with slight hesitation.

The reason he felt hesitant wasn't because his count was wrong. On the contrary, he was quite confident that the number was indeed eleven. What confused him was... Mother's Rosario looked like a technique that was... ordinary? There was nothing too spectacular or amazing about that movement, except for its execution speed.

However, the explanation given by Konno Yƫki soon left him stunned and made him realize how wrong his perception was.

"You're absolutely right!" Konno Yƫki clapped with expectation. "Exactly eleven thrusts!"

"From an ordinary observer's perspective, it indeed looks like eleven fast thrusts performed in sequence. But actually there's something else behind those eleven thrusts." Konno Yƫki held her chin, thinking for a moment to find the best way to explain this complex concept.

"Usually, when someone thrusts with a sword, they have to thrust repeatedly at the same point if they want to increase the damage produced, right? But Mother's Rosario is different."

Konno Yƫki's eyes shone. "Even though you thrust at different locations, and even though the individual strength of each thrust is weaker than the previous thrust, each subsequent thrust will automatically become much stronger and more destructive than the previous thrust."

"Besides that," Konno Yƫki continued, "Mother's Rosario thrusts will cause damage that directly attacks the opponent's entire internal organ system, even if that attack is blocked or held by their armor or weapons."

She raised her index finger with a dramatic gesture. "Hmm... If it must be explained in gaming language, Mother's Rosario will produce consecutive critical hits whose damage keeps increasing with each hit."

Konno Yƫki suddenly laughed happily. "The only weakness of Mother's Rosario is that this technique is only effective in one-on-one battles. But on the other hand, this technique is very effective for solo hunting against giant-type boss monsters! If you aspire to be a mysterious solo swordsman who always fights dungeon bosses alone, this technique is very suitable for you!"

After explaining with contagious enthusiasm, Konno Yƫki looked at Chen Ye with a sweet smile. "So how about it? I hope Mother's Rosario can meet your expectations and become a choice for your main technique."

Chen Ye was silent in total amazement.

On that day, Chen Ye's training session with Konno Yƫki ended with Chen Ye being stunned...

***

The next training brought Chen Ye face to face with a completely different figure. Tomioka Giyƫ—a young man who radiated a cold and mysterious aura. To train with him, Chen Ye had to journey to a remote mountain adorned with a magnificent and breathtaking waterfall.

There, the black-haired young man with a unique haori—half sea blue—stood still like a statue. His traditional black kimono fluttered in the mountain wind, while his black eyes gazed at Chen Ye without the slightest emotion. That gaze seemed capable of piercing the soul, yet revealed nothing.

Silence enveloped them both. Chen Ye realized that conversation between them would be very minimal. First, Tomioka Giyƫ was clearly not the type of person who enjoyed small talk or light conversation. Second... well, he was a man, so Chen Ye wasn't too interested in paying him further attention.

However, what Tomioka Giyƫ then taught truly surprised him.

"There's not much I can teach you in terms of sword techniques," Tomioka Giyƫ said in his characteristic monotone voice. "But... there's one thing I'll share. A way to increase your strength without relying on [mana] or other supernatural effects. This is a method that can literally surpass the physical limits of ordinary humans."

Chen Ye raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Is there such a thing?"

"Of course there is." Tomioka Giyƫ nodded slowly, his expression remaining flat. "The human body and organs store extraordinary potential that is rarely fully utilized. What I'll teach is one of the keys to unlocking that potential. This technique is called..."

Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ (Total Concentration Breathing).

Initially, Chen Ye felt strange. Breathing? Really? Throughout his knowledge of the swordsman world, breathing was just a basic aspect for maintaining stamina during battle.

His thinking wasn't entirely wrong, but what Tomioka Giyƫ taught far exceeded that simple concept.

When Chen Ye was told to breathe in a certain pattern, without warning, Tomioka Giyƫ suddenly struck his stomach with terrifying force! Chen Ye's breathing immediately became chaotic, pain spreading throughout his body like burning fire. He nearly fell, his eyes spinning.

Anger briefly surged in his chest, but soon changed to admiration and amazement when Tomioka Giyƫ began explaining.

Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ was a method where practitioners maximized oxygen intake through special breathing patterns that had been perfected.

The purpose? To increase physical and mental abilities to superhuman levels.

The results were truly amazing. Those who mastered this technique would gain dramatic improvements in physical strength, reflex speed, seemingly limitless stamina, and superhuman-level body endurance. Even a Hunter would be amazed seeing the abilities produced.

Moreover, when performing Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ, mental processing and concentration levels increased rapidly. This technique could even stop bleeding from serious wounds and provide extraordinary resistance to various types of poisons or toxins!

This was a technique that could truly transform ordinary humans without any Talent into Hunters! A real miracle!

Undeniably, this technique became a very valuable treasure, especially for those not blessed with Talent.

However, from Tomioka Giyƫ's explanation delivered in a cold tone, Chen Ye also realized that not everyone could perform Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ. Although natural talent didn't matter much, there was one absolute requirement that had to be met: extraordinary mental endurance to withstand all the suffering that would be experienced.

Unlike Hunters who were already accustomed to pain, ordinary people had a very high risk of death when training Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ. This technique required practitioners to undergo inhumane training, forcing the lungs and entire body system to adapt in extreme ways.

Fortunately for Chen Ye, with his Emperor of Sword Talent, mastering the basics of Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ wasn't too difficult. His body adapted faster than expected.

It's just that... when he thought he had passed the most difficult part, Tomioka Giyƫ dropped another bomb.

"Now," Tomioka GiyĆ« said calmly, as if what he was about to say was normal, "you must master Zen ShĆ«chĆ« JƍchĆ« (Total Concentration - Constant). The principle is the same as before, but the difference is... you must maintain this breathing technique at all times. Eating, sleeping, bathing, even walking—you must perform Zen ShĆ«chĆ« no KokyĆ« without ever stopping."

Chen Ye stared at him with wide eyes, not believing what he had just heard. "...Are you insane?!"

Performing that technique for just one hour already made his lungs feel like they were burning alive. Now he had to maintain it every second, every minute, every day?!

If it were just a few hours or even a full day, maybe he could still understand. But every day without stopping... Didn't this mean he had to perform Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ until death claimed him?!

Unfortunately, no matter how hard he protested, he knew this was the path that had to be taken. Moreover, there was another far more tempting technique taught by Tomioka Giyƫ.

Konno Yƫki wasn't lying when she said that Tomioka Giyƫ had extraordinary sword knowledge. However, this sword knowledge was perfectly integrated with Zen Shƫchƫ no Kokyƫ, creating something called 'Mizu no Kokyƫ' (Water Breathing).

Mizu no Kokyƫ was an amazing sword technique, where every movement and slash resembled the flow of water that moved beautifully yet deadly.

That description wasn't mere metaphor. When Chen Ye witnessed Tomioka Giyƫ demonstrate Mizu no Kokyƫ, he truly felt as if he was watching 'water' itself dancing in its purest form. Every movement flowed calmly, yet stored terrifying destructive power.

Mizu no Kokyƫ had ten forms. Actually there were eleven forms, but Tomioka Giyƫ didn't show the eleventh form...

Chen Ye didn't think too much about it. He already felt very fortunate that Tomioka Giyƫ was willing to teach him techniques that were surely coveted by many swordsmen throughout the world.

***

Then, the next training brought him face to face with the figure he had been eagerly awaiting: Tsukuyomi Tsukasa.

Honestly, Chen Ye was very much looking forward to this meeting because the girl possessed truly stunning beauty and a captivating aura of elegance. He couldn't blame himself—except for Yozakura Tsubomi, Tsukuyomi Tsukasa was the most beautiful figure he had ever seen in his life!

Fire-red hair that fell softly on her shoulders, ruby eyes that sparkled mysteriously, and a perfect face like artwork of the gods. Her every movement radiated natural elegance.

Unfortunately, his hopes had to be shattered to pieces...

"There's nothing I can teach you," the girl said in a voice that was melodious yet cold. Her extraordinary charm radiated even more when she spoke calmly, but her words were like lightning in broad daylight.

Chen Ye could only gape, not believing what he had just heard. "W-what do you mean?"

"I do fight using a sword, but..." Tsukuyomi Tsukasa shook her head gently, her red hair strands moving gracefully. "I'm not a sword expert in the true sense. Compared to someone like Tsukuyo, I don't know anything about real sword techniques."

"B-but—"

"Stop forcing it, foolish student." The Sword King, who could sense whether someone was truly a swordsman or not, also gave confirmation to Chen Ye. "She's not lying. She indeed doesn't seriously study sword arts."

"...Alright, I understand." Chen Ye sighed deeply, disappointment clearly audible in his voice.

However, something nagged at his mind. If Tsukuyomi Tsukasa didn't have special sword skills, then how could she be part of the Yozakura Family?

He could sense that every Yozakura Family member had their own uniqueness or extraordinary abilities. So, did Tsukuyomi Tsukasa have a certain Talent?

But no matter how hard he observed, he didn't sense any energy from the beautiful girl...

What made him even more confused was Inaba Tsukuyo's statement that she was the weakest in the family. Didn't that indirectly acknowledge that Tsukuyomi Tsukasa was far stronger than a Rank B Hunter?

Perhaps... her Talent was related to her extraordinary beauty?

Chen Ye kept wondering in his heart, but the Sword King had completely different thoughts.

He also sensed something was off about Tsukuyomi Tsukasa. From the outside, she appeared to be a very beautiful and innocent young girl. However... there was something strange in her gaze. Her eyes seemed to have witnessed a very long life.

'Could she be...' The Sword King thought of an extraordinary possibility, but his guess could only be confirmed if he could directly sense the girl's soul.

***

Although Tsukuyomi Tsukasa couldn't train him, Chen Ye wasn't too disappointed. He still had the opportunity to learn from other members of the Yozakura Family.

However... when he saw the next figure, cold sweat immediately drenched his back.

"Gulp." Chen Ye swallowed hard as he stared at the massive figure standing majestically before him like a living mountain.

Xiang Yu. A being that appeared to be a fusion of human and horse, but with a body covered in advanced technology. He wasn't just an ordinary half-beast that Chen Ye had read about in books.

His entire body was encased in gleaming mechanical armor, with various circuits and high-tech components that pulsed with light. Most terrifying were his eyes—two bright green orbs that glowed with soul-piercing intensity, as if capable of analyzing every weakness of his opponent in mere seconds.

Seeing a name that seemed to originate from the same place as his own, Chen Ye had momentarily wanted to ask about his background. However, the terrifying aura emanated by this mechanical creature made him abandon that intention.

Instead... cold sweat flowed even more profusely when Xiang Yu drew two gleaming sharp swords from both his mechanical hands. Those weapons looked capable of splitting mountains with a single strike.

"...We're going to spar?" Chen Ye asked with a trembling voice, though he tried hard to hide his fear.

Xiang Yu gave no verbal response. However, the hot aura emanating from the green flames throughout his body and the terrifying metallic grinding of spinning gears already provided a very clear answer.

Despite feeling like he was about to face a merciless killing machine, Chen Ye drew his sword with slightly trembling hands. He could only hope to survive this training that would become a nightmare!

***

After surviving the "training" with Xiang Yu that resembled torture more than practice, Chen Ye found himself sitting across from another young man. The atmosphere between them was extremely awkward and tense.

The youth opposite him had an annoyingly indifferent expression, with neat short blue-green hair. He wore a formal yet practical black coat with gray lining for combat. But most irritating was the way he squinted while staring at Chen Ye.

"So... you want me to train you?" the youth asked in an indifferent tone.

Gritting his teeth while swallowing his pride, Chen Ye reluctantly answered, "Yes. I heard from Master Inaba that you possess very powerful techniques."

"From Inaba Tsukuyo?" Aoi Sui seemed to think for a moment, then nodded with the same flat expression. "I see... But I don't think my techniques would suit you."

The corner of Chen Ye's mouth twitched as he suppressed his annoyance, but he forced himself to remain calm and asked, "Why is that?"

"Simple." Without bothering to glance at Chen Ye, Aoi Sui answered in an emotionless tone. "Your emotions are too unstable and uncontrolled. If you force yourself to learn this technique, the result will only be flawed and useless."

Hearing that heartless statement, veins began throbbing hard on Chen Ye's forehead. He desperately wanted to punch that indifferent face of the annoying youth in front of him until it was black and blue, but he managed to restrain himself with great difficulty.

'Stepping on Flowers'—that was one of Aoi Sui's techniques that Chen Ye desperately wanted. This technique wasn't swordsmanship, but an extraordinarily advanced movement technique.

From the explanation he had received from Inaba Tsukuyo, Stepping on Flowers was a high-speed movement technique that produced absolutely no sound. This technique involved special walking movements that could perfectly absorb sound and reduce air resistance.

This was what made every step of Aoi Sui silent and quiet like a floating ghost. No traces, no sounds, as if he had never been there.

And if this terrifying technique were combined with Inaba Tsukuyo's swordsmanship—the Yakumaru Jigen-Ryu Style Iai—the combination would become something truly frightening.

That reason was what made Chen Ye willing to swallow his pride to ask for help from this annoying Aoi Sui.

Unfortunately...

"Learn and master all forms of Mizu no Kokyƫ from Tomioka Giyƫ first," Aoi Sui said in a condescending tone. "After that, maybe you can come back here again."

"...Do you want to fight?"

***

How annoying! Chen Ye truly failed to get approval from that 'self-aggrandizing' Aoi Sui. He also couldn't force that stubborn person to train him because that would only create bigger problems.

Of course, Chen Ye knew he might be able to win in a fight if he relied on his SS Rank Talent, Flame of Abyss. But if purely relying on sword techniques without supernatural powers...

He would definitely lose miserably without mercy.

That's why, with a heavy heart and wounded ego, he had no choice but to visit the next person on his list...

Cecilus Segmunt.

Upon seeing that figure, Chen Ye immediately felt a strange and disturbing contradiction. The youth before him had brilliant blue eyes that sparkled like sapphires, radiating a cheerful and relaxed aura.

His long dark blue hair, like the color of the night sea, was tied in a messy ponytail style that gave both a mysterious and extremely dangerous impression. There was something in the way he moved that made anyone who saw him feel uncomfortable.

His clothing was very unique and eye-catching. He wore an elegant peach-pink kimono with purple mist patterns flowing beautifully like traditional paintings along the bottom. Over it, a bright blue haori covered the kimono perfectly. A pair of high-quality handmade wooden sandals completed his very traditional appearance.

At first glance, he appeared friendly and approachable, like a kind older brother. However, Chen Ye felt a chill of fear as soon as their gazes met.

His sharpened instincts screamed loudly in his ears: behind that seemingly normal human appearance hid a crazy monster that knew no mercy.

"Sword training?" The youth looked confused as if hearing the concept for the first time. "Oh, I remember now. Aren't you the one from yesterday? Sorry, I almost forgot because... Well, you're too weak to remember." He smiled as if he had just said something very normal.

Chen Ye took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger surging in his chest. Although he felt very angry and insulted, he was also very aware of how terrifying the figure before him was. Even Inaba Tsukuyo had personally warned him to be careful.

"But training a student?" Cecilus held his chin with a theatrical thinking pose, then said in an annoyingly casual tone. "Honestly, I've never had a student I could actually train to completion. Either they're too weak and die halfway through, or they lack talent and give up first."

He sighed with a fake ironic expression. "Well, what do you expect from one of the strongest people in this entire world? Even gods could die miserably if they faced me directly."

Not only was Chen Ye stunned by that crazy statement, even the Sword King who had been watching from within Chen Ye's soul was speechless with disbelief.

'This person... He's too arrogant, isn't he?'

Even the Sword King, with his long fighting experience, didn't dare claim he could defeat fellow Transcendent beings unless assisted by several other Transcendents.

"But to teach you a special technique?" Cecilus continued in a condescending tone. "Hmm, not much comes to mind, since almost all my enemies always die in the first attack. So I rarely need complicated techniques."

'Can you stop bragging for just one second?!' Chen Ye was extremely annoyed.

"Oh, wait. I have one." Cecilus Segmunt suddenly remembered. "I have one technique that might help weak people like you survive a little longer." He smiled very casually, as if he had just given the greatest gift in the world.

Chen Ye gritted his teeth but forced himself to speak politely, "...Please teach me."

"Wrong." Cecilus shook his head dramatically. "You should say 'Please bestow your honorable supreme knowledge.'"

Veins pulsed hard at Chen Ye's temples. Anger peaked in his chest, but he forced himself to swallow his pride and speak through gritted teeth, "Please... bestow your honorable supreme knowledge."

"Pffft... HAHAHA!" Cecilus Segmunt suddenly exploded in very loud laughter while shedding tears. "I was just kidding! You actually said that seriously! This is too funny!"

Chen Ye's face turned bright red, whether from extreme embarrassment or anger that had reached its peak. But in the next second, his expression immediately changed to total amazement.

Not for any other reason—the sky above them was suddenly split instantly as Cecilus Segmunt swung the simple wooden sword he was holding!

SLASH!!

The echoing sound was followed by a scene that was truly incomprehensible. The blue sky that had been calm and peaceful was literally split dramatically, creating a terrifying wind vortex that could kill ordinary people just from its air pressure alone. The clouds that had been floating peacefully were cut cleanly, as if sliced by an invisible giant knife.

"Kumokiri (Cloud Cutting)," Cecilus said casually. "That's the technique I'll teach you."

Chen Ye could only stare with his mouth open, unable to believe what he had just witnessed. How could someone split the sky with just a swing of a wooden sword?!

"Basically," Cecilus explained in a tone as if discussing the weather, "this is a technique created specifically to split the sky by moving the wrist at extremely-extremely high speed. The theory sounds simple, but applying it... Well, that's a different story."

He scratched his head casually. "Anyway, there were people who spent their entire lives creating this technique. But for someone of my caliber..." He smiled carelessly. "This technique is just trash that doesn't even deserve to be called a warm-up."

Then, with a playful smile, he added, "But this technique is perfect for the circus performance you'll be doing, right? At least you can entertain the audience before dying miserably."

***

"What the hell is wrong with that damn guy?" Chen Ye growled angrily, his jaw hardening as the image of Cecilus Segmunt flashed through his mind again. Anger blazed in his chest like an unquenchable fire.

That arrogant youth always threw degrading words so casually, as if life was just a game to him.

And that annoying fake smile! A smile that looked so sincere yet hid poison behind it. If Chen Ye were given a chance—just one chance—he would make sure his hard fist landed right on that smug face until that smile disappeared forever!

But of course, that was just fantasy. The bitter reality hit him like ice—Cecilus Segmunt wasn't an opponent he could underestimate. That youth's power remained a big mystery that made Chen Ye shudder every time he thought about it.

Even the usually calm Sword King appeared to be contemplating with a serious face. In my heyday, I might have been able to defeat him.

But when he remembered glimpsing the two katanas sheathed neatly at Cecilus's waist, there was a terrifying aura emanating from those weapons, making him feel like staring into the mouth of a venomous snake ready to strike at any moment.

'Don't tell me... the fact that he can kill Transcendent beings is really true...'

Shaking his head to dispel those dark thoughts, Chen Ye decided to focus on the next training. This time's targets were two figures who always made him curious yet wary—Kurome and Kurogane Ouma.

Unlike other members of the Yozakura Family who preferred solitude, these two always appeared together like inseparable shadows. This made Chen Ye curious about the real relationship between them.

But whatever it was, one thing was certain—especially Kurogane Ouma—they both possessed the power that Chen Ye desperately needed to develop!

Unfortunately, Chen Ye soon regretted his decision as soon as the first word came out of the small girl in sailor uniform's lips.

"No."

That cold and indifferent answer slid from Kurome's lips like a knife cutting Chen Ye's hopes into pieces. The small girl didn't even bother to lift her head from the snack she was munching.

Her appearance was such a contrast to her terrible attitude. The black sailor uniform with red belt and red accents on the side of her skirt made her look like an ordinary student. Her long black socks and shiny shoes appeared perfectly maintained. The slightly short shirt—almost showing her small navel—gave a misleadingly innocent impression.

"I hold a sword to kill, not to show off or other trivial things." Kurome chewed her snack calmly, her black eyes not even bothering to glance at Chen Ye. "If you want to learn ordinary sword techniques, just ask Ouma to teach you."

Then, in the same flat tone as if discussing the weather, she added, "But if you want to learn how to kill people efficiently... I can teach you 'a little'."

No! He was here to practice sword techniques, not to become a cold-blooded killer!

It was true that sword techniques and the art of killing were two things that couldn't be separated, but Chen Ye's intention was far from wanting to take other people's lives!

While Chen Ye was still stunned by Kurome's surprising answer, a cold voice like winter wind emerged from another direction.

"As I recall, outsiders aren't allowed to enter this place."

Kurogane Ouma. The long black-haired youth stood with an upright posture, his light brown eyes that were almost golden amber color staring at Chen Ye with a cold and piercing gaze. The X-shaped scar on his face added to the intimidating impression that was already quite strong from his aura.

Without any guilt whatsoever, Kurome answered in an annoyingly innocent tone, "He came in by himself."

"No! Don't lie as you please!" Chen Ye immediately defended himself. "You're the one who opened the door for me!"

Kurome squinted at him, her facial expression changing like a child whose mood was ruined because her toy was taken away.

Kurogane Ouma frowned, his gaze becoming sharper. "So what exactly is your purpose coming here?"

"...I want to train," Chen Ye answered.

"Hah!" Kurogane Ouma laughed mockingly. "What kind of joke is this?" His eyes turned into dark abysses full of terrifying aura. "Did your head hit something until your brain got damaged? Didn't I tell you many times, I'm not interested in training weak people like you because it's just wasting precious time?"

"..."

The Sword King watching from within Chen Ye's body was ready to intervene. He also didn't particularly like Kurogane Ouma's arrogant attitude. However, the next words from the scarred-faced youth made him hold back.

"But..." Kurogane Ouma stared at him, "I'll train you if you can pass a small test I'll give you."

"A test?" Chen Ye raised an eyebrow, wary of the changed tone.

"Yes." Kurogane Ouma nodded while squinting dangerously. "If you can withstand the burden I'll give you..."

"Burden? What do you mean—"

"<>"

When Kurogane Ouma uttered that technique's name in a low voice full of power, the air around Chen Ye suddenly transformed into a vicious wind vortex.

The wind spun at terrifying speed, condensing and compacting until it formed an invisible grip that coiled around Chen Ye's entire body. Pressure after pressure struck him repeatedly like a merciless giant hammer.

Fuck! What kind of terrifying pressure is this?!

"What the hell is this?!" Chen Ye screamed in horror before his body was slammed to the ground with force that made him feel every bone vibrate in pain.

CRASH!

"Ugh!" Fresh blood spurted from his lips, flowing at the corner of his mouth. With great difficulty and spinning vision, he stared at Kurogane Ouma with a feeling of horror mixed with disbelief.

"The Sword King might have already explained a little about me," Kurogane Ouma said in an indifferent tone, as if Chen Ye suffering before him wasn't an important matter. "I always wrap my body with layers of wind pressure that not only function as protection, but also strengthen every movement and attack. This technique is called Tenryƫ Gusoku."

He glanced at the half-dead youth before him with a disdainful look. "And the pressure you're currently experiencing... is only one-tenth the power of true Tenryƫ Gusoku."

"If you can't even withstand something trivial like this," Kurogane Ouma continued coldly, "you'd better forget your dream of being trained by me."

"D-damn..." Chen Ye could only curse while feeling the wind pressure that kept choking and torturing him.

***

Night arrived with its thick darkness. Chen Ye prepared for a training session with one of the Yozakura Family members who made him shudder the most—Kokushibo.

Under the light of the full moon shining with silvery radiance, Kokushibo's figure appeared like a being from another world. His appearance was so contrasting and dignified, as if he were a nobleman from a long-passed era.

His long black hair with blood-red tips was tied in a high ponytail that fell like a dark waterfall. His extremely pale skin, as if never touched by sunlight, created a striking contrast with his dark clothing.

He wore a nagagi kimono with purple-black hexagonal patterns that seemed to move and change shape when viewed from different angles, like a living optical illusion. Black hakama pants in umanori style were tied with a white uwa-obi encircling his waist perfectly. His feet were wrapped in zƍri with purple straps and spotless white tabi socks.

If only he didn't have three pairs of eyes glowing in the dark, Chen Ye was sure Kokushibo's figure would inspire many artists and poets.

But on the other hand, Chen Ye also felt puzzled by this unusual training pattern. Unlike other Yozakura Family members who trained him in the morning or afternoon when the sun shone brightly, only Kokushibo chose nighttime to give lessons.

The reason remained a mystery to Chen Ye, but he still respected that decision. Besides, Kokushibo was as serious as Inaba Tsukuyo when it came to sharing knowledge—there was no fooling around in every movement and explanation given.

From various training sessions they had gone through, Chen Ye also knew that Kokushibo's sword style had similarities with Tomioka Giyƫ. However, the power difference between them was like heaven and earth.

Kokushibo was many times stronger than Tomioka GiyĆ«. This was even directly acknowledged by Tomioka Giyƫ—no matter from which aspect, Kokushibo had surpassed him in every way.

One thing Chen Ye greatly regretted was the fact that Kokushibo's techniques didn't suit him.

Yes, Kokushibo also had extraordinary breathing techniques, just like Tomioka Giyƫ with his Mizu no Kokyƫ (Water Breathing).

Kokushibo's technique was called Tsuki no Kokyƫ (Moon Breathing).

Honestly, compared to Mizu no Kokyƫ, Chen Ye felt Tsuki no Kokyƫ sounded much cooler and deadlier.

He reached this conclusion after witnessing Kokushibo demonstrate his technique directly in a performance that was truly amazing yet terrifying.

But precisely after seeing that greatness, Chen Ye immediately realized that Tsuki no Kokyƫ completely didn't suit him. That technique was specialized for controlling many invisible slashes that moved like crescents in the darkness of night.

Chen Ye wasn't entirely sure about his theory, but one thing certain was that Kokushibo possessed a terrifying S Rank Talent called 'Kekkijutsu (Blood Demon Art) - Crescent Moon Blades'.

That Talent allowed Kokushibo to create and control both invisible and visible blades with chaotic and irregular patterns, like a beautiful yet deadly dance of death. To make it more dangerous and perfect, Tsuki no Kokyƫ served as its complement.

"No need to feel disappointed or despair," Kokushibo said in a calming tone. "I'll teach you something else equally valuable."

"A-alright!" Chen Ye nodded enthusiastically, his eyes shining with hope.

"You might have already heard these words from Tomioka GiyĆ« before—the human body is always full of hidden potential." Kokushibo began his explanation with a deep and authoritative voice. "Besides the breathing techniques you've learned, there are also other methods that can strengthen ordinary humans into something extraordinary."

"There are others?!" Hearing that statement, Chen Ye's eyes widened.

Breathing techniques alone were already amazing because they could be learned and used by almost everyone, but apparently there were still other secrets?! If this information spread to the outside world, Chen Ye was sure many people would be willing to spend their fortunes to learn it!

"Don't misunderstand first," Kokushibo raised his hand to calm Chen Ye's enthusiasm. "Unlike breathing techniques that can be learned by anyone with inhumane training, this method can only appear in certain humans due to differences in their physical and mental conditions." His six eyes stared at Chen Ye meaningfully. "But with the Emperor of Sword within you, your body must be adjusted to meet all the necessary requirements."

Of course... For that to really happen, Kokushibo had to explain everything in detail. "This method is called Kisatsu Aza (Demon Slayer Mark). Essentially, you manifest a special mark or tattoo on a certain part of your body. The effect of this mark is extraordinary—besides your physical strength increasing drastically, you'll also gain access to two abilities that have always been the highest dream of every martial artist in this world."

Transparent World and Selfless State.

Transparent World allows its user to see muscles, blood flow, joint movements, and even heartbeats of every living being around them. This ability enables the user to predict and react with perfect accuracy to every opponent's movement, as well as monitor the health and well-being of others. More than that, users will gain super perception that allows them to see the world around them at much faster speeds, as if the world moves in slow motion.

Meanwhile, Selfless State is the highest peak of spiritual mastery, where those who achieve it have entered the pure essence of battle itself. In this state, they become as calm as nature itself—like flowers swaying gently in the wind, they move without malicious intent and fight purely based on instincts honed to perfection. As a result, every action becomes unreadable and unpredictable like the gentle movement of leaves dancing in a gentle breeze.

"...This... isn't this basically a Talent?" Chen Ye asked in a trembling voice, unable to hide his shock.

"Talent, yes... You're not wrong in that thinking." Kokushibo nodded slowly. "In some senses and classifications, Kisatsu Aza can indeed be categorized as a Talent. The fundamental difference is... this is something you can learn and master."

Chen Ye felt his mouth go dry. "What... what do I need to do to get it?"

"Simple," Kokushibo answered while slowly drawing his katana from its sheath. Moonlight reflected off the blade, creating frightening flashes. "Generally, to awaken Kisatsu Aza, someone must have a heart rate of more than 200 bpm and body temperature over 39° Celsius. However, those requirements only apply to ordinary humans..."

Kokushibo's six eyes stared at Chen Ye intensively. "While you... are a Hunter who has successfully awakened two SS Rank Talents simultaneously. Your condition already far exceeds ordinary humans, so we can only use another method to awaken it, which is..."

A life-threatening battle.

Hearing that statement, Chen Ye's head felt numb again.

Seriously?! How many more times did he have to dance on the edge of death?!

"Don't worry too much," the Sword King's voice sounded calming from within his thoughts, though it didn't help the situation at all. "You have pretty good luck, so most likely you won't actually die."

So that night, the training session ended with Chen Ye battered, full of wounds, and once again experiencing how close he was to death's gate.

***

Among all the mentors who had ever trained Chen Ye, if anyone were asked who possessed the most intricate and magnificent sword techniques, without hesitation he would answer... Ji Xianyuan.

The petite woman looked captivating in her shimmering orange silk gown, woven with pure golden threads and adorned with small gems that caught every ray of light and reflected it like falling stars. Her jet-black hair was styled with the elegance of a noblewoman—layered golden hairpins, strings of pearls flowing like water, and beautiful ornaments that sparkled with every movement.

But what was most enchanting were her golden-yellow eyes. A pair of eyes that radiated profound wisdom and serenity possessed only by those who had been through life-and-death battles. Though her smile was warm and friendly, the aura emanating from her body was like the presence of a wise ancient queen.

"Art of Taixuan Sword?" Chen Ye frowned in confusion upon hearing the name of the technique to be taught. The name sounded foreign to his ears.

"Ah, actually it's not just an ordinary sword technique," Ji Xianyuan explained with a voice as soft as silk. "Art of Taixuan Sword is a martial arts system that is so complex and profound. It combines physical, mental, and spiritual aspects to allow its user to master any energy perfectly and safely."

Chen Ye's eyes widened. A martial arts system that combined three aspects at once? That sounded... extraordinary.

"To master Art of Taixuan Sword," Ji Xianyuan continued while caressing the handle of her golden sword, "there are five essences that must be mastered gradually."

These five essences were:

First, Heart/Mantra.

Second, Form.

Third, Meaning/Sanction.

Fourth, Soul/Ascension.

And the last... Divinity/Eminence.

"When someone reaches the final essence," she continued with a voice almost whispering, "they have perfectly merged with their own will. They can forge swords with thought, strengthen swords with heart, and completely understand the entire Art of Taixuan Sword. In simple terms... those who reach Divinity/Eminence can form thousands of swords with thought alone."

Chen Ye swallowed hard. Thousands of swords... with thought alone?

"Besides that," Ji Xianyuan continued, "once reaching the Divinity level, one can access a special attack called 'Edge of Taixuan'."

But was that all? Of course not. Art of Taixuan Sword was far more complex than could be imagined because... there was still an advanced attack from Edge of Taixuan. An attack that was the highest peak of this technique, and almost impossible to be blocked by any entity.

"Edge of Taixuan - Eminence. A level far higher than ordinary Edge of Taixuan. Though the name differs by only one word, this is the only type of attack capable of killing creatures of any strength... with just an ordinary human body."

She paused for a moment then smiled. "Yes... Whether it's Rank SSS monsters or even legendary Transcendent Beings... all can be killed with just one attack."

"..."

Chen Ye's brain completely stopped functioning.

This... wasn't this too fantastical? A technique that allowed ordinary humans to kill Transcendent creatures—hadn't this already surpassed the power of Rank SSS Talent?!

Sword King floating beside them was also extremely shocked. After all, wasn't this too unreasonable?! Even Rank Unknown creatures like True Cthulhu couldn't possibly kill Rank SSS monsters or Transcendent beings in one attack!

Was Art of Taixuan Sword really that powerful? Chen Ye began to feel that Ji Xianyuan's explanation sounded like mere fairy tales!

"Of course," Ji Xianyuan continued in a gentle tone, "using Edge of Taixuan - Eminence has very strict requirements. I myself have only reached the fourth essence, Soul/Ascension. So using Edge of Taixuan has never even crossed my mind in dreams, because reaching the fifth essence... is very, very difficult."

However... it didn't mean Ji Xianyuan couldn't use Edge of Taixuan at all. If she forced herself, she could still use it even without reaching the Divinity/Eminence essence.

Only... the consequences were terrifying. Besides the unreasonable energy consumption and power far below the original Edge of Taixuan, Ji Xianyuan might have to sacrifice her 'memory' and weapon. In the worst case... she would 'die'.

But Ji Xianyuan wouldn't bother explaining these horrifying details to Chen Ye.

"W-wait a moment," Chen Ye stammered, "does this mean you're not the creator of this technique?"

"Me?" Ji Xianyuan blinked then laughed gently and gracefully like silver bells. "No, of course not. I'm just a student who's still learning."

"That's very surprising," Sword King commented with disbelief. "Such an amazing technique... why has this old man never heard of it even a little?"

Logically, with how extraordinary Art of Taixuan Sword was, it would be impossible for it to be hidden from the world. Moreover, Sword King had lived for centuries, yet the technique's name was completely foreign to him.

"The answer is actually quite simple..." Ji Xianyuan caressed her golden sword with an expression full of longing. In her mind, the figure of a beautiful woman with gray hair and a cold, emotionless expression appeared faintly like shadows of the past.

"Everyone who has ever seen Art of Taixuan Sword... is already dead. Besides that, the creator of this technique is someone who is very humble and doesn't like to show off. That's why only a handful of people in this world know about the existence of Art of Taixuan Sword."

"I-is that so..." Chen Ye fell slightly silent seeing the expression of nostalgia and sadness that suddenly appeared on Ji Xianyuan's face.

It seemed... the figure who created Art of Taixuan Sword was not an individual to be taken lightly.

Sword King himself was frozen in deep thought. Honestly, the figure capable of creating a technique of Art of Taixuan Sword's caliber must still be alive and wandering somewhere in this world. It's just that, no matter how humble that person might be, it would still be impossible for Sword King to never have heard even the slightest thing about their existence...

"So, how will we begin?" Chen Ye swallowed hard.

Truly, among all the sword techniques he had ever learned from Yozakura Family members, he felt Art of Taixuan Sword might be the most terrifying yet most fascinating technique.

However... he couldn't hide the burning enthusiasm within himself.

Who wouldn't be excited? After all, Art of Taixuan Sword sounded absolutely amazing! He was even sure Sword King didn't have techniques that could match it!

If Sword King knew his student's thoughts, the old spirit would surely give a lesson about respecting teachers. But unfortunately... he also couldn't argue because the fact was indeed so. All the techniques he wanted to teach Chen Ye felt so lowly when compared to the amazing explanation of Art of Taixuan Sword!

Shit, even Sword Kinghimself was very tempted to learn this magical technique!

"We'll start with the first essence, which is Heart or Mantra," Ji Xianyuan explained patiently. "Actually, once you succeed in mastering the first essence, mastering the subsequent essences—except Divinity—will become relatively easy. But that's precisely why Heart is the most complex and most crucial part in the entire Art of Taixuan Sword."

Because of its extraordinary difficulty level, the creator of Art of Taixuan Sword even created a special sub-technique to achieve the Heart essence, namely Taixuan Blade Heart or also known as Taixuan Blade Mantra.

"In simple understanding for both of you," Ji Xianyuan looked at Chen Ye and Sword King alternately, "we can consider Taixuan Blade Mantra as the 'Dao' or the deepest core of yourself as a swordsman. Once that 'Dao' is destroyed or damaged, then all your sword knowledge will be destroyed instantly. Most terrifyingly... you will never be able to hold a sword again for the rest of your life."

In other words, Chen Ye had to form his own Taixuan Blade Mantra. And to do that...

"Within Art of Taixuan Sword, there are four stages that must be passed to form Taixuan Blade Mantra. If you succeed in passing all four, Taixuan Blade Mantra will be perfectly formed and officially... you will have mastered the Heart essence."

Ji Xianyuan looked at Chen Ye with eyes that gleamed seriously yet full of hope.

"So... are you ready?" Ji Xianyuan asked gently.

"Yes!" Chen Ye answered with a loud voice, though his heart was beating fast from a mixture of fear and enthusiasm. "I'm ready!"

"In that case, let's begin..."

***

"Really... the people in Yozakura Family cannot be underestimated in the slightest." Sword King sighed with helpless feelings while gazing at the evening sky that was beginning to change color. The complexity of emotions was clearly reflected in his voice.

"That's very true. Every member of Yozakura Family is like a monster in human form," Chen Ye nodded in agreement while grimacing from pain.

At this moment, both of them were walking slowly toward Chen Ye's residence. The young man's body was covered in bruises and wounds from Kurogane Ouma's merciless brutal training.

"So now you don't regret choosing to join Yozakura Family anymore, right?"

A girl's voice that sounded indifferent suddenly broke the silence. The startled Chen Ye immediately turned and found Inaba Tsukuyo standing upright before him with her usual cold expression.

"M-master Inaba?!" Chen Ye looked slightly awkward. "Why are you here?"

"Just happened to pass by," Inaba Tsukuyo answered in a flat tone. "Besides, aren't you being too careless? Have you forgotten my warning to never be careless in this place?" Her tone sounded quite annoyed but contained hidden concern.

"Eh? What do you mean?" Chen Ye frowned in confusion.

"Hah," Inaba Tsukuyo let out a long sigh with a tired expression, "now I understand Sword King's feelings when dealing with you."

Then with a voice that remained indifferent, she said, "How long will you keep hiding, Yoruka?"

"Huh?!" Hearing Inaba Tsukuyo suddenly mention someone else's name, Chen Ye immediately became alert and looked around with sharp eyes while his hand reflexively gripped his sword handle.

Then—

"Fufu, the timing is very inappropriate, Miss Tsukuyo~" A girl's voice that was gentle and charming like bird song was heard from the darkness. "My intention was actually to surprise him~"

In the blink of an eye, Chen Ye found a slender girl figure standing gracefully and perfectly right next to Inaba Tsukuyo—as if she had been there from the beginning.

Her jet-black hair flowed beautifully like a waterfall over her shoulders. She wore an elegant black yukata tied with a blood-red obi at her waist. Her skin was pale white with a gentle reddish tinge that made her look like a living porcelain doll.

But what drew the most attention were her heterochromatic eyes—the right eye was blue as clear as the sky, while the left eye was purple as deep as night.

"It's a great honor to meet you," she said while bowing with movements so graceful and perfect. "My name is Kirihime Yoruka~"

A beautiful smile adorned her face, but there was something terrifying hidden behind that smile.

Seeing this girl, Chen Ye's head immediately went numb and the danger alarm within him rang loudly.

She was indeed very beautiful and charming—perhaps one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. It's just that...

It felt like facing a beautiful red rose, but full of deadly poisonous thorns.

Sword King also felt a very strong bad premonition when looking at that girl. The reason was none other than... that girl had such thick and terrifying killer aura! Even the air around her felt colder.

"You've returned earlier than expected," Inaba Tsukuyo commented while looking at Yoruka with narrowed eyes. "But... where is Flashy Flash? Didn't you two leave together?"

"I'm here." Another voice suddenly came from a completely different direction—right beside Chen Ye.

Due to that sudden surprise, Chen Ye, who was already in full alert mode, immediately reacted according to fighting instinct. He launched a sword swing at full speed but—

CLANG!

His sword was easily blocked by a katana handle that moved like lightning.

Only then could Chen Ye clearly see the figure confronting him.

He was a slim but muscular young man of average height with quite androgynous appearance—almost could be called beautiful for a man's standards.

His sharp blue eyes were like ice shards, while his long platinum blonde hair was styled with bangs neatly combed to the right side of his face.

Uniquely, he wore a tight dark blue bodysuit with gleaming metallic arm guards on both hands, plus upper chest armor and a long white cloak that fluttered dramatically behind him.

"Not bad," he commented with a flat voice but containing judgment. "Reacting immediately without hesitation—you have quite promising talent. But still..." his blue eyes looked at Chen Ye with a contemptuous expression, "you're still very, very slow in my eyes."

"..."

What was wrong with these men in Yozakura Family?! Did they all have bad habits of boasting while looking down on others?!

"Ehem," Inaba Tsukuyo cleared her throat to draw attention, "Chen Ye, let me introduce—he is Flashy Flash. Don't think too much about his... unique name. He..." she paused for a moment, seeming to think, "...is indeed a little different from the others."

"What do you mean 'weird'?" FlashyFlash looked at Inaba Tsukuyo with narrowed eyes. "It's their fault if they can't understand the philosophical power contained behind my name."

"You returned earlier than the planned schedule," Inaba Tsukuyo changed the topic with a more serious tone. "Does this mean you brought important information?"

"Ara~" Kirihime Yoruka smiled sweetly but her heterochromatic eyes gleamed dangerously, "You guessed very accurately, Miss Tsukuyo. And..." she looked at Chen Ye with an investigating gaze, "the latest information we brought has a very close relationship with the young man standing there~"

"Eh?" Chen Ye was surprised to hear himself mentioned, while Sword King began to feel an increasingly strong bad premonition.

"This isn't the right place to discuss it," Flashy Flash said in a calm tone. "We must immediately gather with the other members. So contact the Family Head right now."

"I see..." Inaba Tsukuyo frowned with an unpleasant expression, but nodded without resistance. "I understand."

"As for you two..." Flashy Flash looked at Chen Ye then turned to Sword King floating like a ghost beside them. Though he seemed slightly interested in the old spirit's existence, he still spoke with an undeniable tone, "Since this information is directly related to you, you must come with us. Now."

"A-alright..."

***

"Is everything ready?"

Dean's voice broke the night silence. The leader of the notoriously cruel Black Mamba organization stood upright with his Hunter Rank SSS aura pressing down. His sharp eyes swept over the subordinates gathered behind him—all Hunter Rank A.

"Everything is ready, Chief," one answered respectfully, though cold sweat flowed down his temples.

"What's the response from Shikai Family and Resonance Family?"

"Both great families agreed not to interfere as long as our attack on Master Swordsman City takes place," his subordinate reported carefully. "However, they gave one absolute condition—we are strictly forbidden to harm innocent civilians."

"Tsk, so hypocritical." A Hunter Rank S with scars on his face clicked his tongue in annoyance.

Another Hunter Rank S known for his realistic attitude shrugged casually. "Well, what do you expect from those aristocratic families? We're already lucky if they don't interfere in our affairs. Besides, don't forget that both families have relationships with the two Hunter Rank SSS in that city. Not to mention the Hunter Rank S and A scattered throughout that city."

However, a big question still hung in the air. Why did Shikai Family and Resonance Family—who were two of the three founding families of Master Swordsman City—allow Yozakura Family to be attacked? Shouldn't they protect each other as fellow founders?

The answer to that question wasn't too complicated to understand. Unlike Shikai Family or Resonance Family, Yozakura Family was too shrouded in mystery. The oddities surrounding them had planted seeds of deep suspicion in the hearts of the other two families.

Most suspicious was the figure of Yozakura Tsubomi—the founder of Yozakura Family who was still alive to this day. While the founders of the other two families had long passed away and been replaced by successor generations, Yozakura Tsubomi remained alive with perfect physical condition. There were no signs of aging despite hundreds of years having passed.

Yet, everyone knew that Yozakura Tsubomi was not a Hunter. So where did she obtain that unnatural longevity? Even Hunter Rank SS would experience physical changes after living for hundreds of years.

Due to this oddity, Shikai Family and Resonance Family had repeatedly sent their spies to infiltrate Yozakura Family. The result? Not a single one returned alive. Even their corpses were never found.

One thing was certain, Yozakura Family kept a great secret that allowed them to survive as one of the main powers in Master Swordsman City despite their family members not even reaching twenty people. That secret was what made the other two great families greedy and constantly trying to find out what Yozakura Family was actually hiding.

Unfortunately, they couldn't attack directly because of the existence of Hunter Association and World Organization who would immediately intervene if internal conflicts occurred between great families.

However, Black Mamba's presence solved all those problems. Since this organization considered evil had the goal of attacking Yozakura Family, let them do the dirty work. If Black Mamba succeeded, the two great families could seize Yozakura Family's secrets from the ruins. If they failed, there would be no loss for them.

Dean, though not a fool, fully realized that his organization was being used. However, he didn't care about that cheap political game. As long as he could achieve his main goal—killing Sword King—that was more than enough.

Moreover, with the existence of a Transcendent creature of Demon Dragon Lord's caliber on their side, there was nothing to fear from any Hunter Rank SSS.

"Tonight's sky looks very beautiful~"

A girl's voice that was gentle yet seductive suddenly broke the silence. All Black Mamba members immediately tensed and directed their gazes to the sky.

A girl with silvery-white hair that shone like silk under the moonlight and a pair of golden eyes that glowed with unnatural light. Her very minimal clothing—like a black bikini that showed off perfect pale skin—gave a contrasting impression between fragility and danger.

The girl sat casually on some kind of futuristic wheelchair filled with mechanical tentacles and rows of high-tech cannons. The combination of captivating beauty and alien technology created a very disturbing aura.

"You've arrived," Dean looked at her with a cold gaze that could freeze blood. "Have you finished your business?"

"Of course~ Are you still doubting me? That makes me very hurt, you know~" Though saying this in a sulking tone, the sweet smile plastered on her face never faded.

"Don't misunderstand," Dean replied with an even colder tone. "I still don't fully trust you. If not for direct orders from His Majesty, your head would have been separated from your body long ago."

"Fufu~ Really someone who doesn't trust easily. But haven't I proven it many times?" the girl laughed softly with a tone that sounded like silver bells.

Hearing that answer, Dean chose not to continue the argument. Though very reluctant to admit it, he had to thank the figure who called herself Observer α (Alpha). The mysterious girl not only provided extraordinary combat power support, but also... unlimited funding.

Dean never understood how, but Observer α or the organization behind her had practically unlimited wealth. How rich? Just mention any number with however many zeros behind it, Observer α could easily transfer funds of that amount to their organization's account.

The amount of funds flowing to Black Mamba's treasury was so fantastic it almost equaled World Organization's annual income. And that was an extraordinary achievement, considering World Organization's income came from contributions of thousands of guilds, dozens of kingdoms, and even the legendary Holy Spirit Empire.

One could imagine how tremendous the wealth possessed by Observer α or the organization behind her...

However, that didn't mean Dean was careless and fully trusted the girl. Though Observer α always said she was present as an 'observer' in the literal sense, it couldn't be that simple. There must be hidden things not yet revealed.

"What's that?" Dean frowned when his eyes caught a strange object in Observer α's hand.

From its outward appearance, the thing looked like an ordinary cube with a smooth surface. But the energy flowing within it... felt so pure and clean it made Dean uncomfortable.

"Ah? You're curious?" Observer α smiled with eyes gleaming seductively. "No need to be so wary like that. You can consider this thing as a recording device for research purposes~"

"I hope you don't intend to do something that could harm our mission," Dean gave a warning with a threatening tone.

"Fufu~ I'm also curious about that~ Let's just see what will happen later~"

Dean only replied with a freezing cold stare. Secretly, he signaled several of his members to watch Observer α more closely. His intuition told him that girl would become something uncontrollable.

Now, Dean along with all Black Mamba members stood on a hill facing Master Swordsman City from a distance. The city known as paradise for swordsmen looked so peaceful under the moonlight, unaware of the disaster that would soon befall them.

Suddenly, the calm night sky began to churn. A giant magic circle formed in the sky, its size so large it covered most of the city. The magic circle began to absorb all the [mana] in the surrounding area with tremendous power, creating a terrifying energy vortex.

"Well then, let's begin."

What happened next was an explosion of dark light that enveloped the entire area, swallowing Master Swordsman City in an eerie dark shadow.

***

In a place very far from the hustle and bustle of the battle about to begin...

"..."

"Lord Morax?"

Seeing the steps of the majestic figure in white robes before her suddenly stop, Silvana felt slightly confused.

Without responding to her call, the figure only gazed toward the sky with a pair of golden eyes that emanated inhuman light from behind the hood of his white robe.
