The two figures ducked lower, waiting for the wind to cover their footsteps again.The gate loomed just ahead.
They moved closer.
The second of them pointed towards the other side of the gate—the guard was coming toward them."Shit, do something, boss," he whispered, shaking. "He's gonna find us if he comes this way."
"Shut up," the other voice replied. "You're with me. Just watch."
Then the first one raised his hand, pointing it away from the door. With a flick of his finger, flame particles tickled around his hand. With a swift movement, he threw the flame in such a way that the guard would be able to see it.
The guard's attention snapped to the flame as it flickered in the distance and extinguished. He immediately ran toward the place where the flame had vanished.The guard was by no means an ordinary human—he too had awakened a core—but he was not weak.
"Move quickly," the one who threw the flame said hurriedly.
