Chapter 40 - One-sided Beat Down

Vroooooooooooooooooooom!

An off-road military camouflage van entered into view, speeding in my direction, knocking aside every car in its path in what I could only call a mad frenzy.

Initially, I was confused, but as the van got closer everything began to make sense.

Next to the driver's side of the vehicle was an orc, clutching the vehicle from the side window.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

I couldn't see past the tinted glasses of the vehicle, but three shots were unloaded, striking the orc in the head. It fell off the vehicle, rolling a few times on the ground before springing to its feet and continuing the chase as if it was nothing.

"Three bullets to the head couldn't kill him?" I frowned.

This wasn't my territory where the system would reveal this orc's stats to me. However, with just a glance, I could tell this orc was different from Ûtá.

Unlike Ûtá, this orc had cornrows and a necklace made of six skulls hanging around his neck. His hulking frame made Ûtá look small, and each step he took sounded like an anchor crashing against the earth.

"Heavy." My frown deepened as I slowly unfastened Rai'ki from my belt.

The orc didn't carry a bone dagger like Ûtá. Instead, he used two hand axes dangling loosely across his waist with each step he took.

But what was even more terrifying was that he was catching up to the van.

Without hesitation, I charged forward. The van and those inside were the key to my survival, and they were the only ones who could guide me through this chaotic city.

There was no way I was going to let this orc have them!

Thud!

With a heavy stomp, the orc shot high into the air. His massive frame trailed the military van like a plague. It was certain he would reach the van if allowed.

"Get down!" I roared and tightened my grip on Rai'ki, causing its edges to unleash an azure blue light.

I waited patiently as the van closed the gap between us. By this time, the orc had landed on the van with a heavy thud.

"Now!"

[Door Skill activated!]

Two spatial tears spiraled to life. One was behind me while the other was behind the orc.

Swoosh!

With a light hop back, I vanished into the spatial door and appeared behind the enemy. My attack was precise, going for a clean decapitation. However, before I could strike, the orc reacted far faster than expected. He quickly unsheathed one of his axes.

Peng!

My hands felt numb from the clash and I retreated a few steps.

Too strong!

Swoosh!

The orc quickly changed its target and swung at me. I raised Rai'ki and braced for impact.

Boom!

I was sent flying off the vehicle with one hit. However, I was not out of the game yet!

"Door!"

Buzz!

Two doors opened, one behind me and the other beside the orc.

Swoosh!

I fell in and the next second I popped out of the rift with my weapon raised. Once again, he seemed to anticipate my actions, blocking my attack again.

Peng!

In one powerful swing, he struck me back. However, before I could fly off, I felt the orc's firm grip reach my neck, holding me up like I weighed nothing.

"Gaah!"

Rai'ki fell from my hand as I grabbed his arm with both hands. I couldn't breathe, and with each passing second, he increased the pressure of his grip. Just a little more and he might actually snap my neck.

"Kūß çæk," the orc said in a rare amused tone.

"Ff-fuck... fuck you too!" I cursed with great effort.

My grip around the orc's arm tightened as black fumes poured out of every hole in my body, completely shrouding my eyes in darkness.

The orc's eyes dilated with momentary shock—probably because he could feel this power was familiar.

Without hesitation, I kicked with all my might, aiming for his jaw!

Bang!

The orc was shaken by the kick, forcing him to let go and stagger back while I fell onto the moving van.

Cough! Cough!

I grabbed my neck and coughed a bit, but my malicious gaze never left the orc's figure. After killing Ûtá and his Skarnak, I gained about 13 universal fragments. Using that, I purchased the [Berserk Mode] talent.

I made this choice since I wasn't sure if I would find help once I returned to this world. Since the skill gave rapid regeneration, I saved it, hoping to use it to recover when near death due to bleeding.

Never did I think I would be using it to fight another orc—one much stronger than Ûtá.

In this form, it felt like everything around me was blurred out and only the orc in front of me existed. I wanted nothing more than to rip him apart, but I knew I couldn't charge in blindly.

Yet it was hard to resist doing that.

"This is what he felt when using this..." I muttered while I struggled against the bloodlust threatening to overwhelm me.

I finally understood why Ûtá wanted nothing more than to rip me apart. If I didn't have some Intelligence stat left, I wouldn't have been any different.

With some effort, I rose to my feet, standing just a few meters away from the orc on this moving van. I wasn't sure where it was heading, but one thing was certain: I needed to stop this orc here and now, or we may never get to our destination.

Slowly, I assumed a boxing stance, most of my body hidden within the black fumes that escaped through every pore on my body.

The orc didn't seem keen on attacking yet. In fact, he looked amused and excited by my actions. I watched as he calmly pulled out the second axe, wielding both while his amused gaze never left my figure.

This bastard was looking down on me—and I was determined to make him pay for it!
