Chapter 34 - Lambert arrives

"What do you think?" Mia said nonchalantly, standing up from the couch and moving towards Tiffany, her hand resting on the button of her clothing.

Tiffany immediately realized that Mia had known about her plan all along. She hurriedly opened her mouth and called out, "Mia, let me explain."

She grabbed Mia's hand, trying to salvage the situation. If she could stall for a little longer, the public opinion would spread online, and by then, no one would care about her, allowing her to escape unnoticed.

"Tiffany, I treated you like a sister. How could you betray me?" Mia said with disappointment, cruelly tearing off the tiny camera from Tiffany's button and throwing it onto the table.

Everyone was shocked; this was leaking company secrets, which was illegal.

But they all knew that Tiffany was under Lambert's protection, and they didn't dare to do anything to her.

"I'll give you a chance. Explain this to everyone properly," Mia said, sitting back on the couch, staring at Tiffany as if offering her a chance.

Ten more minutes passed, and it was still calm. Tiffany picked up her phone and glanced at it—no signal.

It turned out that the signal had been blocked here long ago, and nothing could be sent out. She had spent the whole day, only to jump right into Mia's trap.

Realizing this, Tiffany pretended to be panicked and fearful. She took a few steps towards Mia and softly began crying, "I really don't know what happened, Mia. This is a new outfit I just bought, and I didn't know it had something like this hidden in it. I would never do such a thing that harms others and myself. You have to believe me."

"Do you think anyone will believe what you're saying?" Mia said coldly, her face darkening.

It was clearly a way to throw the problem to everyone. People looked left at Tiffany, right at Mia, seemingly unable to offend either of them. Some adjusted their glasses, others fixed their clothes, coughed awkwardly, or kept their heads down in silence…

For a moment, the conference room was deathly quiet, everyone pretending to be oblivious. After all, they were in A City, Lambert's territory. None of the leaders dared to truly offend Lambert.

"You see, no one believes you. I guess I'll have to hand you over, or sue you," Mia said, not giving an inch, her lips moving to destroy Tiffany completely.

"I really don't know what's going on. There's no benefit to me in doing this. I'm not stupid, Mia. Someone's trying to frame me," Tiffany lied through her teeth.

"The truth will come out eventually. The meeting's over," Mia said slowly.

Others quickly rushed to leave, as if running for their lives. Soon, the conference room was left with only the two of them.

"What do I have to do for you to forgive me?" Tiffany slumped down on the couch, expressionless and pale.

Was she really no match for Mia? She looked at the woman in front of her with vacant eyes, both fearful and envious of her.

"Soon, Lambert will come. You'll know what to do then," Mia smiled, looking harmless, speaking casually, and her gaze at Tiffany was full of amusement.

"Mia, is this fun for you? Can't you do this differently? Lambert won't hate me. He once told me that even if I asked for his life, he would give it to me without hesitation. What you're doing is completely futile."

Lambert had never said such a thing to her; she was just making things up to unsettle Mia.

She forgot that Mia was already severely wounded, her heart torn apart long ago. These words couldn't hurt her in the slightest.

"Even if it's futile, I'm happy. Do you dare not to follow through?" Mia retorted.

"Mia, you're ruthless. Just wait for it," Tiffany said, angrily, only able to speak a few harsh words to make herself feel better.

Both of them sat on the couch, each with their own thoughts.

Before long, the door to the conference room opened from the outside, and Lambert walked in quickly, followed by Gene.

Lambert's gaze first fell on Tiffany. Once he saw she was unharmed, he relaxed. The conference room was empty, and he knew Mia had left a way out for Tiffany.

When he looked at Mia, his gaze softened with affection. "Thank you, Mia."

"Why are you thanking me? Did I ever say I would spare your lover?" Mia said coldly.

"It's all your fault, Mia. You set me up. This thing isn't mine at all! You just couldn't stand how Lambert treats me, so you want to ruin me," Tiffany said in frustration, angrily accusing Mia.

She stood up and ran to Lambert's side, just like before. Crying heavily, she clung to his arm and said, "I didn't do anything wrong. Lambert, I've worked so hard for the M project. I've put in so much effort. How could I want to ruin it?"

Mia said nothing, watching Tiffany's act.

"I'll investigate this thoroughly. Mia, give me some time," Lambert said humbly.

Gene approached Mia's side and answered for her, "Then give Mr. Wenshte half a day, and let him investigate the truth."

"Mia, you're being too aggressive. I came to help you get the project to market, and this is how you repay me?" Tiffany said, gritting her teeth and cursing angrily.

She took a pen from her pocket, removed the cap, and lunged at Mia. With all her weight, she pressed toward Mia. Gene couldn't stop her in time.

She aimed at Mia's face, gripping the pen tightly, and stabbed at her. She wanted to ruin Mia's beautiful face and see if Lambert would still stand by her.

"Mia!"

"President!"

Lambert and Gene both shouted at the same time and acted in unison, but still couldn't stop Tiffany.

"Ah!" A shrill cry rang out, sounding like a slaughtered pig.

Lambert quickly separated the two, his hands stained with bright red blood. Both Tiffany and Mia were on the ground, heads down, and it was hard to tell who was injured.

The first person he pulled into his arms was Mia, carefully checking her over, panic written all over his face as he trembled and asked, "How are you, Mia? Where are you hurt?"

Tiffany's crying caught his attention. He turned around and saw a long wound on Tiffany's arm, blood flowing out continuously.

"Tiffany, is the wound serious?" Lambert asked, but first helped Mia up from the floor, letting her sit on the couch, before turning to care for Tiffany.
