"Who is there?" I called out into the darkness.

"I'm a friend Arin, no need to be frightened." The soft voice called out to me.

"What do you want with me?" I questioned, my senses on high alert as I could feel the person moving around me in circles.

"I don't want anything from you. I'm here to help you." The woman revealed and my brows furrowed in confusion.

"Help me?" I asked.

I threw myself to the ground as bullets whizzed over my head. Chunks of stone burst everywhere, and the air filled with dust and the smell of gunpowder. My heart was beating so fast I thought it might burst right out of my chest.


"Stay down!" Kael yelled, but his voice sounded weird. Like three people were talking at the same time.


That's when I saw something amazing and scary happen. All three triplets moved together like they were dancing to music only they could hear. Kael slammed his hands against the ground, and huge stone walls shot up from the earth. At the exact same moment, Jaxon threw his arms wide, and hurricane-force winds started spinning around us. Rowan's eyes rolled back in his head, glowing silver as he saw things that hadn't happened yet.


"Left side!" Rowan screamed. "They're coming from the left in three... two... one..."
