Chapter 26 Guidance
Xiangtai Villa!
The next day, at six in the morning!
Chasel Mills and Suzaku woke up and headed out for their morning exercise.
However, as soon as they stepped out of the villa, they noticed two figures already in the neighboring yard.
"Chasel, Suzaku!"
Leonard Fields greeted them as soon as he spotted Chasel Mills. Today was the day Chasel had arranged to learn some combat techniques from him. Normally, Leonard woke up at seven, but last time he noticed that Chaselwas up even earlier. So today, he had invited Tyra to join him and they had come out early to wait.
"Good morning, Leonard!"
Chasel Mills and Suzaku responded with smiles.
After exchanging pleasantries, Chasel said, "Leonard, I have to do my morning workout, so please bear with me for a moment."
"Of course! You go ahead, young friend. I could use a little warm-up myself!" Leonard replied with a grin.
Chasel nodded and then took off running with Suzaku."Making Grandpa wait like this..."
Tyra's face showed a hint of dissatisfaction.
Even though Tyra knew that Chasel Mills had an impressive background and that her grandfather took him very seriously, she couldn't shake off a feeling of displeasure.
"Tyra, have you forgotten what I told you?" Leonard Fields said sternly.
"Got it, Grandpa!" Tyra pouted.
She just felt a bit indignant; in all of Verdant City, who would dare to keep Leonard Fields waiting? He was one of a kind!
An hour later, Chasel Mills and Suzaku returned. They headed straight to the villa where Leonard Fields was waiting.
"Welcome, young friend!" Leonard Fields said, quickly stepping forward to greet Chasel.
"There's no need to be so formal, Leonard," Chasel replied, maintaining the utmost respect for these retired veterans and old heroes.
Then, he got straight to the point. "The Combat Fist has undergone several modifications, and many details have changed."
"For example, in the transition from the second punch to the third, the force will be reduced by a third to minimize stress on the joints."
As Chasel spoke, he demonstrated the technique to Leonard Fields.Leonard Fields, along with Chasel Mills, began to go through the entire combat technique from start to finish.
The more they progressed, the more Leonard was amazed, eventually transforming that amazement into deep shock and disbelief.
"Wonderful, simply wonderful!"
As Chasel Mills finished breaking down and demonstrating the entire set of combat techniques, the excitement on Leonard's face was unmistakable.
After practicing this set of moves, Leonard felt no strain on his body; instead, he realized that the power of the technique had been maximized. If he were to face an opponent, the effectiveness would far exceed anything he had experienced before.
Not only that, but he also felt invigorated, as if a warm current was flowing through him.
"Leonard, you've been practicing these combat techniques for decades, and your external skills have reached their peak. If you continue training with this set, you'll develop internal energy in less than three months," Chasel Mills said with a smile.
"Internal energy!"
At those words, Leonard's body jolted. His eyes widened with astonishment, quickly followed by overwhelming joy.
Modern martial arts may not possess thefantastical abilities of fictional tales, like moving mountains or blocking the sky with a finger, but mastering external techniques can indeed lead to the generation of internal energy within the body.
As many are familiar with styles like Bagua, Hung Gar, Wing Chun, and Tan Tui, including combat techniques, these are all forms of external martial arts that utilize muscle and bone strength to create external force for combat.
However, if one can push their muscles and bones to the limit, they can generate internal energy within their organs and limbs, significantly amplifying their strength—potentially by several times or even dozens of times. This is the dream of countless martial artists!
Leonard Fields may not be a true martial artist, but as someone who practiced combat boxing, he naturally yearned for that level of mastery.
"Mr. Mills, I will never forget your kindness!" he said, bowing deeply to Chasel Mills, expressing his utmost respect.
Chasel Mills returned the gesture.
"Mr. Mills, I have a humble request. May I speak freely?" Leonard's face showed a hint of hesitation. After Chasel had taught him combat boxing, he no longer referred to him as "young friend," but rather as "Mr." to show his respect.
"Feel free to speak, Leonard," Chasel replied with a smile."It's like this: my granddaughter has some talent for martial arts. I wonder if you would consider taking her on as a disciple and guiding her a bit?" Leonard's heart was stirred. For one, Tyra indeed had a knack for martial arts and showed some interest; otherwise, he wouldn't have taught her combat boxing. Secondly, Leonard wanted to seize the opportunity to establish a genuine connection with Chasel Mills.
He could tell that Chasel was not thethe type to be swayed by romantic entanglements, so he didn't dare to hope for that. But if Chasel were willing to accept Tyra as a disciple, it would be a win-win situation.
"Leonard, I'm afraid I can't take on disciples," Chasel said. He wasn't a wandering masterlooking to establish a school or teach martial arts. As the head of "Aurelian," it wouldn't be appropriate for him to take on students in that way.
"However, I wouldn't mind offering some guidance," Chasel added.
Upon hearing this, Leonard Fields felt a flicker of disappointment in his heart, but it was somewhat expected. Having someone to guide him, even if it was a mentor-student relationship, could still be seen as a meaningful connection.
"Tyra, come meet Mr. Mills!" Leonard said excitedly.
However, Tyra's expression was some what cold and reluctant. In her eyes, even though Chasel Mills came from the North and held a respectable status, he didn't seem like a true master. If she were to take on a mentor, it should be someone genuinely skilled, not just someone with a higher social standing.
This was her pride!
"Leonard, there's no need to be so polite," Chasel Mills observed Tyra's reluctance andadded, "Tyra is a girl, so I plan to have Suzaku guide her. That would be more appropriate."
Chasel Mills didn't want to press Tyra further, especially since he genuinely intended for Suzaku to mentor her. Training often involved some physical contact, and having two women together would eliminate any awkwardness.
However, when Chasel Mills said this, Tyra was infuriated. A flush of anger colored her fair cheeks.
"Do you think I'm not qualified for your guidance?" Tyra gritted her teeth, glaring at Chasel Mills, her expression as cold as ice, transforming her into a true ice queen.
"You misunderstood!" Chasel Mills's smileslowly faded as he replied calmly, "But if you insist on interpreting it that way, then so be it!"
This girl was being a bit rude.
Leonard Fields held great respect for Chasel Mills, so he treated Tyra kindly as well. However, that didn't give Tyra the right to be rude to him. From the moment she first laid eyes on him, she had never shown him a friendly face, and Chasel certainly wouldn't spoil her behavior.
"Hmph!" Tyra's expression turned even colder. "Are you brave enough to challenge me? If you win, not only will I call you my master, but I'll even agree to marry you without a second thought. But if you lose, you have to apologize to me. Do you dare?""Tyra, that's enough!" Leonard's face changed dramatically as he immediately scolded her.
However, instead of calming the situation, his reprimand only made Tyra's expression grow colder. She even felt a sense of grievance. When had her grandfather ever scolded her? Even though Chasel Mills held a high status, the Fields family was one of the top families in Verdant City and was not to be underestimated.
"Mr. Mills, this girl has been spoiled by me since she was little. She has crossed the line today, and I hope you won't hold it against her!" Leonard quickly explained to Chasel.
Tyra didn't fully understand, but as a retired veteran, Chasel Mills's reputation in theNorthern Region was something Leonard could guess at. It was clear that Chasel was not intimidated by the Fields family, and in fact, the Fields family might not want to provoke him.
"It's fine!" Chasel Mills shook his head, signaling Leonard to relax.
Then she turned to Tyra. "Since you want to spar, I can oblige, but there's no need for you to marry me."
"You think you've already won?" Tyra scoffed, immediately taking a stance to challenge Chasel Mills.
Leonard Fields sighed at the sight. Since Chasel Mills had agreed to the match, hecouldn't step in to stop it. However, he could almost predict that Tyra was going to face a significant defeat.
This was a good opportunity for her to learn a lesson. The Fields family held considerable power in Verdant City, and their younger generation was often arrogant. Even though Tyra, who frequently accompanied them, was relatively humble, she still had her moments of pride.
This match would be a perfect way for her to understand the saying, "There are always greater talents and higher skies!" He just hoped that Chasel Mills wouldn't take offense.
But now that it had come to this, Leonard could only hope that Chasel Mills wouldn't hold agrudge against Tyra.
"Why aren't you getting ready?" Tyra asked, noticing that Chasel Mills stood there with his hands behind his back, seemingly indifferent. She felt even more disrespected.
"Sticking to formalities will only put you at a disadvantage," Chasel Mills replied calmly.
"You..." Tyra was furious.
She couldn't shake the feeling that Chasel Mills might just be a show-off, trying to intimidate her without any real substance.
Tyra was ready to teach Chasel Mills a lesson. However, just as she was about to strike, Chasel raised his hand, and with a flick of his fingers, a visible white energy shot out from hisfingertips.
"Whoosh!"
The sound of the air being sliced through echoed in the room. Tyra felt a chill brush past her ear, and in an instant, a strand of her hair fell to the ground.
Tyra stood frozen in shock!
Leonard Fields was filled with terror!
It wasn't until Tyra's hair landed on the floor that Leonard snapped back to reality, his face pale with disbelief. Trembling he stammered, 'He released his internal energy ".
