Chapter 22 - Returning Home! Superman Injured?

The pendant was flashing.

Like a weakly beating heart, it glowed an ominous, dark black light.

Exactly the same color as the evil spirit.

'Could it be that an evil spirit has gotten in?' Ian held the pendant in his hand and observed it again and again, but he couldn't find a gap that he could dig into. If there really was an evil spirit hiding inside, he probably couldn't dig it out with his hands.

Just when Ian was very puzzled.

"Ian?"

Clark Kent's voice suddenly came from behind.

Ian was startled and turned around to see his old father wearing thick glasses and carrying a briefcase, as if he had just returned from working overtime.

"What are you doing standing at the door?"

Clark shrugged the shoulder that held the bag, his tone confused. Facing his father, Ian subconsciously let go of his coat to cover the pendant under his shirt.

He knew if Clark wanted to, he could even see his own bone cells. However, seeing that Clark's expression was normal, he felt that his father should not maintain his super vision all the time.

"I'm just thinking about something."

Ian laughed dryly and found an excuse in time.

"Stop daydreaming and let's go home." Clark didn't seem to doubt it and seemed to accept the explanation. He reached out and patted Ian's shoulder with his big warm hand.

He walked towards the gate first.

Ian followed closely behind.

When they opened the door, the warm lights and the sound of the TV flooded in. The two walked in one after the other, and saw that in the living room, the eldest brother Jonathan was lying on the sofa and browsing his phone, the second brother Jordan was pressing the handle of the game console, and the mother Lois was standing at the kitchen door biting her finger.

She looked relieved when Ian and Clark came in.

"I came back from overtime and ran into Ian at the door." Clark took the initiative to speak, and his tone sounded as if he had no idea that Ian had come home late, but his two brothers were very clear about this.

"So, where have you been? You came back so late." Jordan turned his eyes to look at Ian, and then stared at the fighting game on the TV screen.

Hearing this, Ian hadn't answered yet, but Jonathan interrupted and said in an exaggerated tone, "He must be dating, right? Our little Ian has also become smart and knows how to play with female classmates after school."

He winked at Ian, clearly trying to help cover for him. It was obvious that Lois was in a bad mood before Ian came back, and he might have even lost his temper a few times.

Ian felt warm inside.

But he was prepared for this.

"No! It's much scarier than playing with female classmates!" Ian patted his chest with a scared expression. His two brothers were stunned, and the whole family's eyes were instantly focused on him.

"I was actually abducted by a taxi driver, a very scary, strong man, and an accomplice, who took me to an abandoned house and almost killed me."

"Luckily, I was smart enough to rob it in time... I robbed a bicycle and pedaled hard all the way back." Ian almost let the cat out of the bag and almost revealed that he was playing real life GTA.

That would certainly set off Lois's temper. Of course, he only slightly modified the truth in this last detail, and what he said before was indeed true.

However, Clark's eyelids twitched noticeably several times.

"Human trafficker?"

Jordan put down the controller with a surprised tone. He was originally playing a fighting game, using a character named "Flash" to beat up Superman, who he didn't know if he had any copyright.

"Um?"

Lois looked at her husband with some doubt. Clark responded with a rather helpless expression and nodded to his wife imperceptibly.

"This is really not your rebellious fake story?" Jordan looked at Ian suspiciously. Seeing Ian frowning, he also judged that his younger brother was not lying.

"Damn it! You didn't even call the police? What did the driver look like? Do you remember the license plate number?" Jordan was an irritable person, and he immediately slammed the table and reached for his cell phone.

"Criminals are too rampant nowadays. What on earth is Superman doing? The crime rate is still so high even after so many years!" Jordan complained angrily while trying to call 911.

"We are a white family."

Before the operator even opened his mouth, Jordan had already introduced himself, and one could clearly hear that the line on the other end of the line was clearly stuck due to Jordan's words.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

The operator spoke.

And just at this moment, Clark walked up with a twitching mouth and pressed the hang-up button.

"Dad? Don't tell me that we still need to give in even in this situation?" Jordan and Clark didn't have a good relationship, so there was a lot of hostility when he spoke to his old father.

"We will take care of this matter, you go back to your room first." Clark did not respond, but spoke in an unquestionable voice with the commanding tone unique to parents.

Jordan was going to explode, but Jonathan pulled him back.

"Is it because the people who kidnapped Ian are targeting you two?" Jonathan has a rich ability to associate ideas, and he has always been concerned about the fact that his parents are journalists, which is a high-risk profession.

"Kids."

Lois also came over at this time, "Listen to your father, trust us, we will handle this matter, and Ian will definitely not be in any danger again."

"Right, Clark?"

After saying, she glanced at her husband.

"…"

Clark opened his mouth, wanting to tell the truth, but after looking at the two older children, he finally nodded and made promises to all three children.

"No one can hurt my children."

He looked at Ian, who was trying to pretend to be invisible. Perhaps this assurance worked, or perhaps a mother's words could comfort a child better than a father's.

"That's better!"

Jordan glanced at Clark, then grabbed Ian and went upstairs. "It looks like we'll have to take you to school starting tomorrow. You can wait for us to come back together after school."

The high schools they both attended were indeed not far from each other.

"Well..."

Ian wanted to refuse.

Jonathan followed at this time and said, "You have to tell us how you escaped from the kidnappers. It's amazing. If it were me, I would have been dead."

Both older brothers expressed their concern for Ian in their own ways.

Ian felt warm inside.

He quietly went upstairs, surrounded by his brothers. Clark and Lois did not stop them, they just watched the three brothers leave the first floor.

Until the children's footsteps completely disappeared, "So, what's the truth?" Lois immediately turned to Clark, crossed her arms, and looked serious.

She knew that both Ian and her husband must be hiding something.

"This could be a scary story." Clark took a deep breath, took off his glasses, and rubbed his nose. However, he did not immediately tell what he had witnessed.

"To be honest, I still haven't figured out whether Ian's sudden change has anything to do with what happened to me this morning." Clark rolled up his sleeves.

Over there.

A hideous wound ran across his muscle, with a strange green light emitting from the edges, as if some kind of energy was surging through it, preventing his flesh and blood from healing.
