Finals were fast approaching—the final exams before they finally became graduates.
"He said what?" Nora asked, munching on her chips.
"He told me to get out of the office. He didn't want to see me again," Alice's voice broke at the last words.
Nora stopped munching her chips, gently rubbing her back.
"It'll be okay, Alice. Remember that there are five stages of grief."
"Grief?"
"Sorry, wrong word—but that's what he's going through now. I mean, you have to look at it from his point of view. He hasn't exactly seen any bad thing being done, so it's quite normal that he'll side with them."
"But they're bad people. It's plain to see," she said, sniffling.
"They are, but it just hasn't come to his attention yet. He'll come around. He's your father. You just have to relax, and everything is going to be fine."
They moved from the bench, heading towards the class.
"Oh Alice." A haughty voice called behind her.
