Chapter 6 - A Beast Unveiled

Sami's form flickered and turned faint as the creature's clawed hand passed right through his chest. The creature's eyes widening in confusion, though what happened piqued its curiosity. That spell was vaguely familiar to it but couldn't recall why.

"You...," it hissed to itself. Its thoughts are filled with intrigue. "You feel familiar to me. I wonder why that is."

That feeling helped to curb the hunger it felt. Knowing that if it feeds on Sami, it'll probably kill him by mistake. So it took a step back making sure to breath and get the control of wanting blood under control.

Its mind was disappointed with being woken from its slumber.. Yet it's not Sami's fault for its mistakes. Heck Sam probably didn't even know it existed in this cave.

The creature decided to remove the spell placed on Sami. As It began to release the magic freezing Sami in place. Something unexpected happened; the ring on his finger began to glow, enveloping both in a bright light.

Sami's mind went blank once the dark force invaded his body. At first, his magic fought back, but then it felt as if his own magic was the one keeping him from moving.

Seconds felt like hours as he kept trying to fight off the paralyzing attack. Suddenly, Sami's body began to fill with energy, making him start to feel uncomfortably warm. The resulting energy exploded.

BOOM!

Causing rocks to fall from the ceiling as the room stabilized. The creature was on the ground, its form flickering. Sami's head throbbed, his body still tingling with residual energy. Sami was still on his feet, albeit a little shaken.

Without warning, Sami pointed his hand at the creature, shouting, "Vincula Constrictoria(Binding Chains)"

An orange circle opened around the creature, chains erupted wrapping around its body. Just like with the Gbahali, the more the creature struggled, the more the chains forced it back down. Sami was grateful Mercer used this spell, because he didn't know how would've fought the creature.

"I'm sorry.," the creature hissed. "You woke me from sleep and my instincts took over. It's been so long without food I didn't mean to attack you."

Sami tilted his head at the creature. Acknowledging the sincerity in its voice "Did you just say that I woke you from your sleep?" he asked, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes.

"Yes," it answered, its voice weakening slightly. "I made this place because I wanted to be forgotten. I was tired of the wars, tired of the world. I just wanted peace."

As Sami thought about the creature's words, the creature sat up. It noticed Sami's aura, a bright orange hue that drifted off him.

Memories flooded its mind as it remembered where the spell Sami used came from. There was only one other person she met with that hue before.

"My beloved," the creature muttered, a single tear fell to the damp ground as fragmented memories flashed through its mind.

Looking even closer at Sami, noticing the ring on the boy's finger. That ring was familiar to it , a feeling it realized is connected to its now dead husband.

RUMBLE!

The floor randomly shaken heavily, forcing Sami to brace himself as he tried to not fall to the ground.

"Is there a way-," Sami started, a sense of unease growing as the shaking began to worsen.

"I want to make an accord," the creature interrupted, its voice gaining a desperate urgency. "We don't have time to discuss things! Just trust me on this, we have to leave quickly!" Before Sami could answer, the room began to rumble, the vibrations growing stronger.

Thump!

Heavy stomps could be heard moving closer to the room, each impact shaking the very stone. The creature began to panic within its chains, its eyes wide with fear as it felt the room shake.

"What the hell is that?" Sami demanded, glancing at the creature still bound in his chains.

"Boy, listen well!" the creature declared, its voice frantic. "You have to run please."

Sami was even more confused now as he stared at the creature. Walking closer, he knelt near what he assumed was the creature's face. The way the creature was trembling was almost childlike in its terror.

"You seem almost scared," Sami deduced, his brow furrowed as he observed the creature.

"You don't understand, boy! The Monster I placed to watch this tomb… I forgot I put someone here to stop people from finding me." The creature rambled on, its voice rising in pitch. "His magic allows it to trap others inside of a labyrinth. But you're not strong enough to fight it, you have to run please!."

"You mean like the Minotaur?" Sami questioned.

"Exactly!" the creature replied, relief momentarily flashing across its features. "I sealed it with runes in this part of the forest in case people wanted to release me from my slumber."

"Dude it'll be so cool to be able to meet the Minotaur!"Sami stated excitedly. "Can you imagine the battle I'd have with it"

"Noooooo you idiot it'll kill you", it chided.

"Fine fine I won't fight it.!Sami appealed, a mischievous look on his face.. "Why did you set a monster like that to guard you anyways?"

"You better not fight it boy I'm serious.!" the creature insisted, its voice strained. "As for why I sealed it, that's a long story."

A giant man with a bull's head stood in front of the doorway. His entire body was muscled, hairy legs with only a loincloth covering its privates. Curved horns were on top of its head. In its giant hand was a club filled with metal spikes, dried blood still on it.

"Knock, Knock," Minotaur said in a booming voice. "I've been watching you boy, and colored me shocked you found the bitch I was looking for."

"Shit, shit," The creature said as it began to freak out.

"Please tell me you have control over that thing," Sami squealed.

"HAHAHAHA! She doesn't, now do you, Onyx?" the Minotaur shouted aloud with a twisted smile on his face.

Sami looked at the creature and asked, "Your name is Onyx? Seriously, you couldn't think of anything else?"

"Now is not the time," Onyx interrupted.

"You look like a whole shadow creature. It's a little too much on the nose I mean at that point you should've just named yourself Shadow or Darkness." Sami continued.

"Boy, seriously, it's not the time!" Onyx yelled out, glancing at the Minotaur who was just standing in the doorway.

"Oh, please, don't stop on my account," the Minotaur replied as he leaned on his club. "See, once you're done talking, I'm going to kill you Onyx. I'll Finally be free of this place and of you. Just for the hell of it, I'm going to chase the boy for old time sake." His voice took a cruel tone at the end.

Sami began to run his hands on his neck, "I'd rather not be chased," he stated nervously.

"Oh, don't worry, it'll be a fun game," The Minotaur implied cruelly.

"FOR WHO?!" Sami screamed back.

"For me," the Minotaur answered back, finally picking his club off the ground. "Time's up, weakling, say your goodbyes."

Red eyes looked at Sami as the Minotaur began to kick its legs back as if to challenge Sami. Sami was shocked by how evil the energy felt coming from the Minotaur was. The Minotaur took off at Sami, its speed covering the distance fast.

Quickly, Sami unsummoned the chains to scoop up Onyx in his arms. The creature let out a loud yelp as Sami ran at the Minotaur, quickly rolling out of the way of the Minotaur's club swing. As he came to his feet, keeping one hand wrapped around Onyx, his free pointed at the club.

"Vincula Constrictoria(Binding Chains)" Sami shouted, snatching the club out of the Minotaur's hand. The club hit the ground hard with a thud. Some dust kicked up in the air.

"Oh, crafty boy, ain't ya?" The Minotaur laughed as he gave up the club. "See, I like using my hands to rip my prey apart anyway." As he charged at Sami once again, this time his hands reached out to grab him.

Sami, thinking quickly on his feet, decided to meet the Minotaur's charge head-on. Onyx wasn't happy with this decision as she glared angrily at Sami. Thinking that he should leave her, and escape on his own.

"What are you doing? Why are you charging right at it?" Onyx demanded.

"Just trust me," Sami replied. As he kept rushing at the Minotaur.

Onyx just crossed her arms. "Hmph, your funeral," she sarcastically stated. "I don't know why you won't just leave me."

"Because if I want to be a hero I can't allow anyone in need to die.", Sami stated.

Sami ignored any reply Onyx had as he began to concentrate on his spell. Forcing to cover Onyx as well. The ring glowed in response as he kept rushing at the Minotaur. With a roar, the Minotaur reached out to grab Sami.

Sami's form flickered as he went through the Minotaur, completely dodging the creature's grab. The Minotaur looked confused at his hands, wondering how he didn't catch them.

"YOU COWARDS, GET BACK HERE!" The Minotaur screamed. "I WILL HUNT YOU, ONYX. YOU CURSED ME TO STAY IN THESE WOODS. I WILL KILL YOU AND THAT BOY HELPING YOU!" As he began breaking the cave looking for them.

Rocks began to fall as the cave collapsed. Each loud stomp of frustration from the Minotaur caused even more tremors in the ground.

Sami didn't look back as he heard the Minotaur roar in frustration as he made his way out the cave back into the woods. Looking at Onyx in his arms he wondered what happened between her and the Minotaur.

Sami kept his powers activated as he dodged the falling rocks and hoped to use the forest to hide. Hoping to maybe try his hand at fighting the Minotaur if he can find a safe place to hide Onyx.
