Chapter 16 - This Is Forever

Heavy, fast pants fill the air. One kiss after another—Kirishima couldn't get enough.

Her lips.

Her touch.

Her love.

Mina, in general.

She's driving him crazy, pushing him past the point of reason. There's a desperate hunger in the way their mouths move against each other, a craving that has nothing to do with need and everything to do with her—her softness, her warmth, the way she melts into him so effortlessly. His fingers tremble slightly as they slide up beneath her shirt, a silent admission of how much he wants this, how much he wants her.

Mina's grip is unrelenting, her hands fisting in the fabric of his shirt like she's afraid he'll disappear if she lets go. But he's not going anywhere. He's anchored to her, his body moving on instinct as his fingers find the delicate clasp of her bra. His lungs scream for air, but he refuses to break away—not yet. Her lips are too intoxicating, their mouths meeting in rough, eager desperation that somehow remains gentle, as if he's terrified of losing her in all this overwhelming intensity.

When he finally relents, pulling away just enough to breathe, he doesn't retreat—he shifts. His lips trace a new path down the column of her neck, his sharp teeth grazing lightly over her most sensitive spots, teasing, savoring.

Mina gasps, her body reacting before she even has time to think. Her head tilts instinctively, offering him more, trusting him completely. That small, unconscious gesture sends a thrill through his veins. He's got her, just like she has him.

His lips return to her skin, pressing, sucking, marking—whispering a silent promise: You're mine, just as I am yours.

He clenches the delicate strap between his fingers, his pulse a thunderous drum in his ears. The temptation to go further lingers—an unspoken battle between instinct and restraint. But this isn't just passion. This is something deeper. He releases the fabric and instead pulls her against him, their bodies fitting together like a perfect puzzle.

He presses a tender kiss to her jawline, savoring the soft warmth of her skin. His breaths mingle with hers—heated, uneven. His heart aches in the most beautiful way, torn between desire and the reverence of a love too precious to rush.

They are moving too fast. He knows it. And so he stops, grounding himself in her embrace. He kisses her lips one last time—not a goodbye, but a promise. A lingering devotion pressed against her mouth before he tucks her safely into his arms.

"I love you." The words spill out like a sacred vow, whispered into the curve of her ear.

She shudders slightly, her arms tightening around him as if she's afraid to let go, as if releasing him might scatter the moment like dust in the wind.

"I love you too," she breathes. The weight of those words anchors them both—solid, certain. The world around them blurs, insignificant, because in this fleeting instant, they have everything that truly matters.

Mina trembles in his arms.

Not from nerves.

Not from hesitation.

But from the sheer weight of everything they had just shared, from the way Kirishima had held her like she was something precious, something worth every second of waiting, something he refused to let go of.

She buried her face in the crook of his neck, inhaling deep, letting his warmth settle deep into her bones.

Kirishima tightened his hold, his fingers pressing against her back, his heartbeat still heavy, uneven, real.

"I love you," he whispered again, this time against her temple, as if saying it twice would make it even more true than it already was.

Mina exhaled slowly, her hands curling into his shirt, gripping onto him like she needed proof that this wasn't just some fleeting dream.

"You don't get to take that back," she murmured, voice soft but certain, tinged with something a little shy, a little breathless.

Kirishima chuckled, low, warm, full.

"I wasn't planning on it."

Mina smiled, pressing her forehead against his, their breaths mingling, steadying, neither of them moving too far away.

This wasn't just about the kiss.

This wasn't just about the way their hands fit together so naturally now, or the way their bodies found each other like a perfectly balanced puzzle.

It was about everything they had never said.

Everything they had ignored for years, buried in moments of teasing, in childhood chaos, in late-night talks that always felt like they were on the edge of something more.

And now?

Now it was undeniable.

Mina shifted, resting her head against his chest, her fingers still tracing mindless patterns against his arm, just to feel him, just to know he was here.

"You've loved me for a long time, haven't you?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper.

Kirishima swallowed, dragging his fingers gently over her back before answering, so quietly, so honestly, like he was finally laying everything bare.

"For as long as I can remember."

Mina's chest tightened, something delicate and overwhelming settling inside her.

And in that moment—she knew.

This wasn't just something new.

This wasn't just a fresh revelation, a spark that had only ignited because of tonight.

This had always been there—waiting, lingering, meant to be.

Her lips curved upward, small, knowing, filled with something deep and endless.

"Then you've got some catching up to do."

Kirishima blinked.

Mina grinned, pressing a slow, deliberate kiss against his jaw, so close to his lips but just far enough to make him want more.

"Because I've loved you just as long," she whispered against his skin.

And that?

That was the moment Kirishima knew for certain—

This is forever.
