"We were trying to find herbs, but got caught by a bunch of goblins and had to run in different directions to save ourselves. We are from a town further and got lost. I know the way, so we can find our way now." Ryoichi said, very calmly as if it wasn't a lie.
"Not to disrespect you child, but you are too calm for a child who has recently lost his way. If my intuition is correct, you are not old enough or strong enough to tackle the beasts of the forest. So tell me, your reason for lying to someone who just saved you." Asked Heles.
"Well, we entered with an escort, but when a group of monsters attacked us, I stayed with the escort and fought them, evident by my clothes and Tokio ran away, eventually finding you."
"What happened to the escort? I don't want the answer from you, but from him. " Said Heles, pointing at Tokio.
Maybe throwing Tokio under the bus wasn't a good idea. I had time to make this up, but if he wasn't hearing properly. God, I hope he doesn't mess it up.
"I wouldn't know the answer to that, since I wasn't around Ryoichi at that time," said Tokio.
"I assume that's a suitable answer. I hope we meet again," said Heles as she got on her griffin and flew away.
Ryoichi breathes a sigh of relief as he flies away.
"I don't think she is gone. Let's talk in the village," he said as he started walking towards the village he saw from above. He remained quite calm, despite the suspicion that someone was following them..
Aurora wakes up from sleep and gets ready to work at the guild as usual. She didn't want to work, she wasn't afraid of the monsters. The stares pierced harder than any wound from the monsters. She managed to get up and get ready for her job. She opened the door and left, ensuring the door was locked before leaving.
Walking through the streets, Aurora waved at the civilians and they waved back. The people were much kinder in the streets than in the guild, since she regularly helped them. As she walked into the guild, she was met with the stares she despised so much, but they moved away as two people stood at the counter, trying to register without the necessary documents. They were trying to explain that they had lost them, they were barely adults, one had black hair and the other had blond hair.
"Mister, do you at least know your birthdate?" asked the receptionist.
One of them quickly wrote it, as the other soon followed with a year younger than the former. The receptionist accepted. She couldn't complain about it. This job requires every individual's life on life, people don't take this career, but in turn, the documents required for it are very low.
"You 2 are now registered. Do you 2 have any gear?" one of them denied, but the other showed his spear. It was a simple, but good enough. The other was given a wooden sword, and they went to the job board to look at the available jobs.
Aurora realized these two idiots would likely get themselves killed if they went on a job. She headed towards them and offered to help. Since all the gathering jobs were taken, they took a normal hunting job. The others looked at them, but the two didn't care. It seems they were expecting it. As they walked to the street, they saw an old man trying to load cargo into the cart. One of them offered to carry it.
Aurora would start chanting a supporting spell in another language. It enhances an individual's strength. The translation goes "For the power granted from gods, to the power I must bestow upon thee as well for thy work. Lord's strength."
Tokio feels the cart getting lighter, and he starts delivering the cart quickly to its destination, returning after a while. As Ryoichi looked at Aurora, asking her.
"Was it magic? I know him, and he couldn't have done it on his own." said Ryoichi.
"Yes, it is support magic. I am a mage of the guild." said Aurora
"Is magic common? What are the limitations of magic? And why support magic?" asked Ryoichi.
"Yes, anyone can perform magic, but only a few people can perform spells, as most spells require a good amount of mana to work. However, small spells are used by everyone. If you are wondering about limitations, there are none, but every spell has its cost. Most only require mana, so you should be good. As for my utilisation of support magic, it is because I am better suited for support magic." said Aurora, wondering how he did not have a clue about magic. Wondering if he was a wanderer?
Tokio quickly comes back after helping the old man with his cart, carrying a cloth sash closed with a rope.
"Let's continue the quest." said Tokio, as he pointed in the direction. Ryoichi looked at him with confusion, but walked in that direction with Aurora. Aurora was quiet, her appearance hidden by the cloak. Ryoichi thought about whether she could teleport them.
"Can you use teleportation magic? If yes, then how far?" asked Ryoichi.
"I can utilise teleportation, but it takes a good deed of mana. I can't use it long range., It is hard to travel long distances with teleportation alone." said Aurora while Tokio just walked without a care in the world.
"Why aren't you worried about going home?" said Ryoichi, knowing he is a weeb, but he doesn't want to stay, does he? That would be utterly stupid of him, but that isn't otherworldly for him.
"We have to fulfill some condition to return, the gods must be testing us? There isn't any spell to travel to our home. The odds are against us, so there must be a way out. Our home is too far to use any spell. I believe our helper that no spell might exist to send us back." replied Tokio, holding the wooden sword with him.
"Can't argue with that logic. All hope is lost. Might as well try this one," said Ryoichi. he could feel the sun going down, so he wondered if they should return, but going back would take hours, walking through the forest takes away one's sense of time, he thought.
"Let's set up camp" said Tokio. Aurora quietly watched them, their nature doesn't tell any evil about them, only oblivious country boys. She left to get some fresh water for them. She is the only one who can take on an ambush since she can always teleport away without being trapped.
Tokio decides to take charge, cleaning an area till only dirt remains and carries 3 massive rocks one by one, creating a 3-walled chamber, as he collects broken branches and dry leaves, putting them into the open area in the 3-walled chamber. He took one of the tougher branches to create a circle around the homemade furnace. He took out the cloth sash and opened it, taking out a bread loaf and cheese. This was given to him as a reward for helping him. As Aurora came back with the water in her sash, Tokio cleaned a slab of stone and poured some of Aurora's water on it, cleaning off any dirt as he heated the stone slab to kill any bacteria.
Ryoichi used the wooden sword to cut the bread loaf into 6 parts and Utilising the materials they have to cook grilled cheese.
