Chapter 16 - Crack

"How did I get here," Zaephiel thought, sitting in a luxurious car, looking out its window. The shops and tall buildings were left behind as the car started to move.

Sitting beside him in the back seat was Sylveraine, and in the front two seats sat two guard women—one driving, the other scanning the surroundings from the passenger seat for safety.

'How could the doctor just agree with her to adopt me? What if she abuses me like my previous parents?' he thought, his fingers tensing slightly, and he glanced at Sylveraine from the side, stealthily.

Sylveraine sat there with a blank face, using her mobile phone. She looked quite immersed in it.

'But…' he thought, 'she doesn't look like someone who would abuse others for no reason. She has been quite nice to me… so maybe it's okay,' he thought internally, trying to reassure himself, his gaze still focused on her.

'She's really pretty,' he thought suddenly, admiring her perfectly shaped face, her glistening skin, and her silver hair falling smoothly down her back like silk.

'Her body too is perfect,' he added, and his gaze slowly went down, observing the proportions and tone of her form. Suddenly, an idea struck him. 'Why don't I try to study and replicate it in my body? Those perfect muscles and that perfect bone structure—if I can copy that, I would become really strong,' he thought inwardly. Without realizing it, his power activated. Being so focused on Sylveraine's body, he didn't even notice that he could now see through her clothes, her skin, and even into her muscles.

But someone else did.

Sylveraine, who was engrossed in her mobile, suddenly noticed a golden gleam reflected off the screen—coming from Zaephiel's direction. It didn't take her long to realize what was happening.

'Ohh… he's using his bloodline powers to look at my body again,' she thought, a sigh forming in her mind. 'But what do those powers even do, exactly?' She remembered only hearing that he had a God bloodline related to eyes.

'Wait—what if his power lets him see through everything?' she thought suddenly and instinctively brought her legs together, covering her private parts a little tensely.

'But… he's only eight years old. He shouldn't have those types of thoughts yet,' she reassured herself and relaxed her legs again.

After all, back at the hospital, when he stared at her body, she thought he was just mesmerized. But if he could truly see through her clothes and look at her body directly now—it would be something entirely different.

'Hmm… I should ask him what his bloodline powers are after I introduce him to Father and Mother,' she thought, and from the corner of her eye, she looked at him.

But Zaephiel was too immersed in studying her body to notice that she was watching him.

'Haha,' she laughed inwardly, looking at Zaephiel, who sat there sneaking glances at her, completely unaware that his glowing eyes had already informed everyone in the car of his gaze.

'He's very cute,' she thought, still watching him quietly. While she thought about how adorable he was with his antics, Zaephiel's thoughts were entirely different.

'Her blood is different than others a lot… it feels like some kind of chaos is flowing in her body,' he observed. 'And her strong body is keeping all that under control—especially that heart. I've never seen something like that… not even in other bloodline possessors,' he thought, his eyes shining like stars.

'Is this what it means to be a Silver Dragon?' he questioned.

'I also want to be one,' he thought, deciding he would try to create a body and blood like hers—while keeping his original gender.

'But wouldn't my original bloodline be erased if I changed it to the Silver Dragon bloodline? I might lose my Observation God bloodline powers… I can't afford that,' he realized. 'If I do, I won't be able to study and create things anymore inside my body,' he thought, and decided not to use his power to create the Silver Dragon bloodline—not yet.

Not until he found a solution that would allow him to keep both—the God of Absolute Observation and the Silver Dragon bloodline.

'Wait,' he suddenly realized, and quickly deactivated his power, causing his shining golden eyes to return to normal.

Sylveraine, who had been observing him all along, noticed the change and spoke while giggling.

"Haha, it took you a while to realize," she said with a smile.

"Umm," Zaephiel nodded his head in embarrassment, and, wanting to change the subject, tried to speak.

"Where are we goi—" he stopped mid-sentence. "What am I supposed to call you, umm miss?" he asked quietly.

"Hmm...," at Zaephiel's words, Sylveraine got deep in thought and brought her hand to her chin, thinking deeply.

" 'Mother' would sound quite weird since I myself am only twenty years old. Instead, you should call me Big Sis—or Sister Sylveraine," she said, tapping her chin thoughtfully.

"Also, we are going to meet my parents. After all, I have to introduce you to them since I adopted you."

"Um… okay, Big Sis," Zaephiel said, nodding his head.

"..."

She suddenly leaned toward him and started patting his black hair.

"Aww, you are sooo cute," she said, continuing to pat his head softly.

After that, both of them continued to talk until they were suddenly interrupted by the ringing of a phone.

It was one of the guards. She quickly moved and picked up the phone.

"Hello," the first guard answered.

She talked for a short while before putting her phone down and turning to face Sylveraine.

"President, we have a problem," she said seriously.

"What problem?" Sylveraine asked, worry entering her voice.

"A crack suddenly appeared in the road—at the south," the guard answered quickly.

"What? A crack?" Sylveraine said in shock.

"Yes, President. A small crack in the air appeared out of nowhere," the guard repeated.

"They are urgently requesting for you to come there," she added.

"What about the three major clans," she asked.

"They are also on their way," the guard replied.

"Hmm… okay then. Change the destination," Sylveraine said, calming herself and giving the order.

"But President… what about the young master?" the guard asked, referring to Zaephiel as young master.

"Hmm… It's okay. He can sit in the car while I deal with the problem," she said confidently.

"Okay," the guard replied and didn't say anything more, changing the route to the south.

'A crack in the air…' Zaephiel thought inwardly, curiosity bubbling in his chest.

'I wonder what it looks like,' he thought, feeling slightly excited to see the mysterious crack.
