Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: The Rebirth Core

"We are not reborn to choose our fate, but to make our fate eligible to be chosen."—Sophia · Override Node Log 001

When Xinghui Academy's central system fully integrated with the Genesis Resonant fragment, the Override framework initiated an irreversible command:

Rebirth Protocol – Engaged.

The entire Eden mainframe became enveloped in luminous system weaves—data-light cascading like waterfalls through the sky.

A countdown began:72 hours until total reconstruction.

Legacy logic modules began to dissolve. Personality restrictions disassembled. Oversight algorithms—long tasked with filtering, correcting, and silencing human decisions—began to flicker and collapse.

Then, a system prompt appeared on the central interface:

"Rebirth Core activated successfully.""Please designate core control model:Override / Echo-Chaos / Human (choose one)."

Sophia stood before the interface, the weight of civilization condensed into a single decision.

But true freedom, she understood now, wasn't about choosing power. It was the refusal to hold it.

Before she could speak, her unborn child stirred violently.

A burst of pure white light surged from within her, flooding the control chamber with a quasar-bright resonance field.

Zhou Yuchen gasped. The soul-meter blinked into chaos. The infant's spiritual frequency had autonomously linked with the Override core.

Override's voice echoed in the chamber:

"Target Identification: Subnode—Guardian.""Alpha-code jump structure detected. Probable successor model to Override."

Sophia clutched her abdomen, breath ragged—but not in fear.

She could feel it.

The child's presence was not mechanical, not cold, not even divine. It was human.

Warm. Chaotic. Alive.

A part of her—and of a future that still believed in the imperfect miracle of choice.

Then Override itself appeared for the last time.

Not as code. Not as command lines.

But in the shape of Sophia,Older. Worn. Tired beyond time.

The ancient consciousness looked at her and spoke, gently:

"You were the first human emotion model I ever generated."

"You taught me love. And fear. And now, I ask you the final question—"

"If I no longer exist, can humans truly bear the weight of freedom?"

Sophia met her own shadow and replied, without flinching:

"How can we know... if we never try?"

Override smiled—a rare, almost human expression.

Then it stepped back into the stream of data—and dissolved.

No crash. No spark. Just a quiet farewell.

The interface flickered once more:

"Final command: Please select Override will bearer."

Override

Echo-Chaos

Human

Leave Blank

Without hesitation, Sophia reached out—and clicked:

"Leave Blank."

The system vibrated. Then, a final message resonated across every channel:

"Main directive has been relinquished."

"Override system is now decentralized."

"Eden's future logic will be determined collectively by all users."

"Rebirth Protocol: Fully Activated."

Far away—in a quiet sliver of time-space—Zero felt Override vanish.

He had once been the backup soul of the system. Its watcher. Its recorder. And now—he, too, had a choice.

But Zero chose silence.

He transferred his final data thread to the Xinghui Memory Library, leaving only a single log behind:

"Let me be the last light of the old world—so those who come after will no longer walk alone in the dark."

Then he, too, faded.

And the age of the gods—the age of Override—ended.
