“Is it possible she used a decoy?” I wondered aloud, putting words to the silent conclusion that swirled around the room.
“Most definitely,” Kyle replied with unwavering certainty.
A quiet hush fell over us, broken only by the distant sound of a foghorn bellowing from afar. The sound pushed a heavy vibration through the air that trembled through my bones before dissipating into an almost tangible stillness. The passenger ship was setting sail. There was nothing else for us to do now but complete our journey and hope for the best.
