Chapter 8 - THE UNEXPECTED TWIST

Preet wasn't always part of my life.

He became my best friend after the heartbreak…

When I was shattered, lost, and Armaan was just a memory I was trying to erase.

Preet and Armaan were classmates.

Friends, once. But things were never the same after I entered the picture.

And Preet and I? We travelled in the same van. That's where it all started.

The casual hellos turned into deep conversations.

And without even realizing it—he became my safe space.

But then… I got back with Armaan.

And suddenly, everything started to blur.

Preet didn't like it. He didn't even try to hide the jealousy.

And Armaan? His possessiveness hit a new high.

I was stuck in between two boys—both wanting to claim space in my life.

But my heart… it still belonged to Armaan.

So I chose him.

And tried to balance everything like nothing was wrong.

But things were far from normal.

One day, Preet texted me:

"Tu mil sakti hai kya? School me. Zaruri baat hai… please."

There was something about the way he said it—urgent, serious, almost desperate.

I didn't ask too many questions. I just said yes.

But I did what I always did—I told Armaan.

I expected drama, and I wasn't wrong.

He replied instantly:

"WHY? KYA BAAT HAI AB USSE?"

I told him everything. He went silent.

A few minutes later:

"Fine. Go. But remember… I don't trust him."

So I went.

Preet was already waiting for me in the corner near the music room—the one place teachers rarely came by.

He looked nervous. Fidgeting. Eyes searching for something… or someone.

We had barely started talking when it happened.

Two senior boys suddenly walked up to us. Their eyes scanned me sharply, like they already knew who I was.

Preet's expression changed the second he saw them.

I turned to look at him—confused, a little scared.

"Who are they, Preet?" I asked, my voice low.

He didn't answer.

He just stepped in front of me… and said nothing.

The tension was thick.
