Chapter 39 - Chapter 38: The Trap in the Cabin

"Big event! Is it going to be a fight? I'm up for it!" The black dog said, rubbing his hands eagerly.

"What big event?" Match also asked with great interest. These two were firm pro - war factions, so they reacted strongly to Horn's words.

Ian Parker sighed but didn't say a word.

Enoch stopped tormenting the poor piece of wood and looked back at Horn. He had a feeling that Horn would say something he was looking forward to.

Horn raised his head and stared at the Wild Witches. There was a captivating look in his eyes.

"Didn't that white - robed steward claim not to know what magic is?

Didn't they say that Rhododendron and the other three were crazy?

Didn't those stupid onlookers laugh at them?

Since they don't believe in the existence of mages,

Let's stir up this city.

Let's tell them,

We are mages, and what we use is magic!

Are you willing to join me?"

Horn said each word slowly and clearly.

Everyone was extremely excited. Except for Marshmallow, Ian Parker, and Stone, who hesitated a little, everyone else agreed!

They would join Horn in this big event!

"Is there any way to make my voice heard throughout the city?" Horn asked the Wild Witches.

"I can do it, but I need a day to make preparations." Voice stepped forward and whispered to Horn.

"Let's share our abilities and come up with a grand plan, a plan that is bound to make the North Wind Church angry!

Then, after everything is ready,

Let's announce our existence to the world!"

...

The troll reported five Wild Witches, but only four were captured. The Wild Witch with the code - name Sage was still at large, which made Reeves extremely angry.

He severely scolded the black - robed stewards in charge of the capture.

How could it be so difficult to catch just some Wild Witches, not even real wizards?

He ordered his ten black - robed stewards to issue a notice throughout the city of Leon to hunt down this Wild Witch named Sage.

The people of Leon City strongly supported the church's actions. Not long after the notice was issued, a hunter in the mountains spotted Sage's trail!

After paying five gold coins, Steward Simon, who led the group, finally got the address where Sage was often seen from that hunter.

He lived in a hunter's cabin in the woods on the edge of the southern district!

The ten black - robed stewards rushed off to make the arrest.

Reeves attached great importance to this operation, so ten of his more than a dozen stewards were sent out.

Sending out ten black - robed stewards was already giving that Wild Witch named Sage a lot of face. If Steward Reeves hadn't kept emphasizing that they should be cautious, sending two would have been enough.

Leading the group was Simon, a North Wind Steward and a second - order priest. After Joseph's death, his status in the church suddenly rose, and he became a favorite in front of Reeves.

The stewards acted quickly and soon found the address of the hunter's cabin.

They quietly surrounded the cabin. Standing in front of the door, the ten stewards looked imposing.

Each steward had a relaxed look on their face. Catching one Wild Witch with ten stewards was easier than going on a vacation for them.

Maybe in their minds, they had already imagined the desperate look on Sage's face when being captured.

Simon waved his hand, and two black - robed stewards kicked open the door and rushed in. Their actions were very rough, just as they always were.

Inside the door,

Sure enough, Ian Parker was in this hunter's cabin. The two stewards' faces lit up with joy but then suddenly froze.

Because there was not just Sage in this room!

Ian Parker in a brown overcoat stood inside the room with a smile on his lips. In front of him was a fur - covered sofa.

On the sofa,

A man in a gorgeous robe trimmed with gold and silver thread was sitting there! The mysterious man leaned forward, propping his chin on his hands, and stared at the black - robed stewards who had burst in.

He wore a hood, so his expression couldn't be seen. Only a pair of eyes were exposed, eyes full of angry looks!

The two black - robed stewards stood there stunned and didn't move for a while.

Steward Simon outside the door got impatient. He strode into the cabin and pushed aside the two stewards blocking the door.

"Stop dawdling. Don't you want to work anymore? Just a...

The Face of Evil!"

Simon let out a scream. His voice was shrill and drawn - out, as if his throat was about to be torn apart!

"I've been waiting for you for a long time. I thought the church would be more efficient."

Horn stood up from the chair, holding a small wooden stick in his hand.

"Retreat!" Simon gave the order. He and the two black - robed stewards slowly backed out of the cabin. After getting out, he led the remaining nine stewards to retreat while facing Horn.

Simon was very clear that heretics of the level of the Face of Evil were not something a mere black - robed steward like him could handle. He had to go back and ask Lord Reeves for instructions first, and then join forces with other white - robed stewards to deal with him.

However, he wasn't very worried about Horn attacking them. Although the Face of Evil was notorious, they had ten black - robed stewards here. If it came to a head - on confrontation, he was sure Horn would have a headache.

But that's what they thought. Horn wouldn't let them go.

He had already silently recited the spell in his heart. With a wave of his staff, a thick fog appeared and enveloped the area around the cabin.

This was the second - ring water - based magic,

Water Mist Spell!

"What's going on?"

"Where did this fog come from?"

The stewards whispered nervously to each other.

Ah!

A scream rang out, followed by the sound of someone falling to the ground.

Someone was attacking them. Simon quickly realized this, but he was powerless to stop it. He didn't know the divine spell to disperse the fog!

After the first scream, screams came one after another. Soon, only Simon was left!

With a thud, a flying stone came towards Simon. After all, he was a second - order priest. He only paid a small price to block the stone.

Simon nervously kept on guard, worried that another stone would fly at him from somewhere, but his worry was clearly unnecessary. The fog soon dispersed, and there was no more attack until the end.

After the fog cleared, Simon saw the situation around him.

The nine black - robed stewards he had brought were lying on the ground in a mess. Some were knocked down by stones, some were tied up by vines, and some had burns on their bodies, but none of them seemed to be dead!

And Horn was sitting on the steps in front of the hunter's cabin, looking at Simon mockingly, as if he were looking at a monkey!

As a high - and - mighty black - robed steward, Simon had never been looked at like this. He felt extremely humiliated, but he didn't dare to show it at all!

Because besides Horn, there were more than a dozen black - robed people surrounding him!

The black robes these people wore were almost the same as those of the Face of Evil, except that they didn't have the unique gold and silver patterns on the Face of Evil's robe.

At this time, all these black - robed people were pointing short wooden sticks at him!

Simon didn't dare to make the slightest move!
