Chapter 64 - Chapter 16: Wild Witches and Wizards

After a loud laugh stunned the wild witches, a strange look appeared on Sean's face.

This was the standard expression of a wizard when preparing to bewitch someone. It was also a habit inherited from their master.

"If you're really wild witches, are you interested in becoming great wizards? You'll gain powerful strength and a long life!

There's even a slight chance of becoming eternal!"

He eagerly awaited Horne's response. After all, he was still a child with simple thoughts...

Horne slapped Sean across the face and frowned, saying, "What are you crazy about?"

Ignoring the pain of the slap, Sean quickly said to Horne,

"Since you're wild witches, there's no natural conflict between you and us wizards!"

Horne didn't strike him this time. He thought this guy was really out of his mind.

He turned to look at the other wild witches and found they were all equally confused. How could he have the nerve to say there was no natural conflict between wild witches and wizards?

All wild witches who were reported to have encountered wizards never reappeared, and Annie herself had experienced an attack by a wizard!

Seeing that the wild witches didn't respond, Sean continued,

"Doesn't the Church always call you wild witches the lackeys of wizards? There's an inherent close connection between wild witches and wizards. There's no need for us to be so opposed to each other!"

Smack!

Horne punched Sean in the eye socket again, this time the other eye.

"Are you saying we're your lackeys?"

Now Horne could barely contain his bursting anger. In this situation, was this reckless young wizard still daring to mock them?

"No, no, no. That's not what I meant," Sean quickly explained when he saw the suddenly ugly expressions on the wild witches' faces.

"What I mean is, I used to be a wild witch too."

"You're kidding, right?" Lightning crackled in Horne's hand. He felt he couldn't get any sense out of this crazy guy.

"Several people in the village know I'm a wild witch. You can go and ask them," Sean desperately tried to prove he wasn't lying.

"Everyone in your village is dead!" Ian Parker squinted his eyes and said.

Sean was suddenly at a loss for words, but he quickly continued, "Only the Church would kill you wild witches. We wizards have never hunted you down like they do."

"I've seen wizards kidnap wild witches, and all wild witches discovered by wizards end up disappearing. How do you explain that?" Terry the Black Dog scoffed.

"They were just kidnapped, not killed! How could we bear to kill wild witches? Wild witches are precious living sacrifices!" Sean said.

"Living sacrifices?"

Everyone asked in confusion. They all knew what a wizard's sacrifice was, but this term "living sacrifice" was heard for the first time.

"Actually, all wizards were originally wild witches!" Sean said astonishingly.

Sean's words caused an uproar among the wild witches. It was impossible that all wizards had started out as wild witches!

Even though they thought this wizard might be spouting nonsense, the wild witches were still greatly shocked. If wizards really did transform from wild witches...

Horne placed his hand on Sean's shoulder, and weak electric currents kept surging.

"You have to explain this clearly to me. What on earth is going on?"

"Rather than saying all wizards were originally wild witches, it's more accurate to say that only wild witches can become wizards.

Wizards offer wild witches as living sacrifices to demons, and the demons use demonic energy to strengthen the sacrificed wild witches into wizards.

Once they become wizards, they can enjoy the power bestowed by the demons."

Of course, Sean didn't mention that if a demon didn't take a fancy to a sacrifice, the wild witch would be brutally devoured alive. He was still hoping to deceive these wild witches into becoming living sacrifices, so why would he say that?

"Is what you're saying true?" Horne's face was so gloomy it seemed to drip water. The eye patch over his left eye flickered, and lightning was about to burst out at any moment!

"Of course it's true. I was a wild witch before and have now become a great wizard. Especially since you're so powerful now, you'll definitely be much stronger than me after becoming wizards!"

Sean spared no effort in promoting the benefits of becoming a wizard to Horne and the others.

Horne looked at Ian Parker. Since he could sense people's hearts, he could tell if the person in front of him was lying.

Seeing Ian's ashen face, Horne's heart skipped a beat.

Sure enough, when he saw Horne looking over, Ian nodded gravely, indicating that the wizard wasn't lying!

"Wizards are slaves of demons. So, you've been capturing innocent wild witches to make them slaves for wizards?" Horne was extremely angry!

Suddenly, Horne remembered that the insect wizard, Alenk, had kidnapped Annie and seemed to be performing some strange ritual. Now he realized that Alenk had wanted to turn Annie into a wizard!

So what if wizards were powerful?

When a person has no control over themselves,

When a person lives only for another being,

Is he still himself?

Horne restrained the electric light on his body,强忍 his anger, and said to Sean,

"One last question. Surely not every wild witch will succeed in the sacrifice. So, what's the fate of those who fail the sacrifice?"

Seeing Horne's expression, Sean thought he was convinced and continued to persuade him,

"Indeed, not all sacrifices will succeed because each demon has different requirements for wild witches. However, after a failed sacrifice, you can find another wizard to offer the sacrifice. There will always be a demon that takes a fancy to you."

Horne looked at Ian Parker again, and this time Ian shook his head.

"In that case, you're useless!"

The hand Horne placed on Sean's shoulder suddenly emitted a strong electric light. This was a Thunder Touch spell of the second - ring magic level!

The strong electric current instantly turned the tied - up Sean into a charred corpse. He never dreamed that after such a good conversation, he would suddenly be killed.

If he were an adult wizard, he would surely have sensed the killing intent from everyone's expressions, but he couldn't!

After killing Sean, Horne squatted beside the bodies of the mother and child, lost in thought.

After this incident, everyone decided not to leave that day. They simply piled up the bodies, and Daniel the Match lit them on fire.

No one touched the bodies of the mother and child in front of Horne.

Ian Parker walked up to Horne and whispered,

"As you said, we wild witches have no right to pity others. You've done all you could. There's no need to blame yourself!"

"If I hadn't decided to leave directly at that time, that mother wouldn't have died!" Horne said hoarsely.

"You thought everyone was dead at that time, so it's not your fault," Ian said without hesitation.

"Hehe. If I had killed that young wizard last night, would today's tragedy have been avoided?" Horne said self - mockingly.

Ian was silent for a while and then asked, "So, do you want to give up?"

Horne suddenly stood up and firmly said, "You're overthinking. I'm just a bit sad. That's all."

He rubbed his face to make himself look less dejected and said to Ian, "Bury them."

After saying that, Horne left the bodies of the mother and child and walked towards the wild witches.

As he walked, he thought,

Give up? How could that be possible?

When he left Lein City, he had already sworn to create a world for mages!

Never compromise, never give up! Forever!
